Report – Bruce Has Significant Funds To Improve Team This Month

The Chronicle have an exclusive that Steve Bruce has been handed a competitive transfer kitty this month and will now look to bring in as many as three new players.

During his press conferences lately, Bruce has been conservative in his transfer ambitions. Often speaking of having one or two ‘plates spinning.’

However, with injuries to Jetro Willems and Paul Dummett looking to be quite serious, Bruce may now have to consider bringing in a left wing-back this month.

There have been rumblings that Bruce wants a striker, wide player, and a box to box midfielder added to his ranks this month. The striker situation seems to be the one that could be the most problematic as there just aren’t many quality ones available.

The Telegraph even mentioned that Newcastle might make a move for Napoli striker Fernando Llorente as a short-term solution to the striker problem.

The 34-year-old just joined Napoli from Tottenham this past summer but has only 4 starts in all competitions this season.

There is another strange report that Newcastle have been knocked back in an approach for Leicester City’s Hamza Choudhury on loan for the remainder of the season.

The 22-year-old injured Matt Ritchie with a rash challenge in August and also had a bit of a war of words with Bruce in the press afterward.

Newcastle were said to be in contact with the representatives of Standard Liege left-back Nicolas Gavory recently. Another left wing-back we’ve been tracking in recent months is QPR’s Ryan Manning.

As of right now, however, it looks like Valentino Lazaro is the player Newcastle is working hard to get in. He’s on the bench today as Inter Milan are facing Lecce.

Of course, how many players Steve Bruce can bring in this month is also going to depend on how many he can shift out.

We’re not sure about the situation with Jetro’s loan deal if he has a cruciate injury. However, if he does, his squad spot could become available.

Who Was Newcastle's Man Of The Match In Win Against Chelsea?

  • Ciaran Clark (36%, 1,158 )
  • Miguel Almiron (12%, 383 )
  • Martin Dubravka (11%, 360 )
  • Joelinton (10%, 310 )
  • Jamaal Lascelles (9%, 303 )
  • Federico Fernandez (8%, 270 )
  • Isaac Hayden (7%, 219 )
  • A. Saint-Maximin (4%, 123 )
  • Matt Ritchie (2%, 60 )
  • Emil Krafth (1%, 22 )
  • Jonjo Shelvey (0%, 16 )
  • Matty Longstaff (0%, 9 )

If these reports are true then I could be right when saying Lazaro is seen as a winger signing and not at wing back. So no Bowen whether that’s realistic anymore or not.

I actually suggested Llorente as a free signing instead of Carroll in the summer. Not my first or best choice of course but as a free signing possibility.

We were linked to Nandez at cm last season but it didn’t materialise. I really like him. He ended up moving to Italy but reports of issues at the club mean he could be got. Think he would be brilliant for us and the well suited for the premier league.

    £20m on Bowen a snip.

He would score 10-15 easily in a 4-2-3-1 comprising of him Almiron and ASM behind a ST, if we were to move in that direction.

All the space he would have on that back post because of ASM and Almiron frightening the life out of players, beating them and drawing another and then another over.

For anyone new to the blog you just need to have a chuckle at whatever kets or toon22 writes and skip past it, reaction seekers only.

Left back is a must in this window now. I thought we were actually ok at winger but after Atsu’s recent performancs do think we need one.

OP agree totally with Chelsea deserving not to win. All that possession and not creating or taking their chances. I must also state that I was ecstatic with the with, the second half was torture, with backs to the wall

10-15 goals for us easily? Do you not watch the way we play lol I would happily give you any odds to say he would not get that many… We would need a seismic shift in the way we play for him or anyone to get that many for us.. Which ain’t happening anytime in the near future

Ha ha keep pressing submit. I mean I was ecstatic with the win, even though the second half was torture, with backs to the all defending. Well done one of my favourite players Lascelles, great to see him back, and a clean sheet as well.

Wow it’s been pleasant on here since the win – not!

How ironic the Blue Sky mob have spent the last day not so much celebrating another smash and grab and handy three points but getting their digs in at posters they don’t like by lying about everything they say and do. Tut tut tut chaps. If you’re going to name and shame the “miseries” for hating Bruce and willing the team to lose, you’ll need to dig some of those troublesome things we like to call FACT!s out.

Personally I’d like to see any post I’ve put on here celebrating a loss or hoping we would lose. You will find a few where I berate those who vote as such though. I’ve never NOT supported the team. So cut that crap out you troublemaking snivellers and just get on with remembering you aren’t supposed to be bringing Rafa up.

I’m personally not sold on Bowen.

Everytime I have watched Hull this season he has looked extremely average barring the sporadic goals.

    Hwa

    15 goals? Hahaha.

Do you not remember Gayle, Ritchie banging in goals for fun in the championship? And now look at them?

Its very rare a championship player makes the step up with the most recent 3 in my mind being maddison, grealish and pukki. Out of how many?

Knockaert another one. A good goal scoring record doesn’t mean a lot when signing from the championship. It’s the quality you look for, I don’t personally think he has enough. He’d be another Ritchie for me.

We just had one company in our antifootball movement; Burnley. They also seem to be having a second thought. Bruce has to keep carrying the flag. And we all have to extend our support. Otherwise antifootball would be dead.

Lorrente would be a good stop gap if there’s not a great deal available and much better than what we have. Could then focus on bringing a better player in the summer.
