Injured Magpies Issue Heartfelt Messages After Confirmation Their Seasons Are Over

Jetro Willems has tweeted the following message after this morning’s confirmation of his ACL injury.

This is a heartfelt message from Jetro, who is clearly going through a tough time at the moment. However, he seems to have the right outlook and is preparing for the long road ahead.

It would be a terrible conclusion to his Newcastle United career if the Chelsea game ends up being his last. Hopefully, that will not be the case.

We know that the club has to protect itself and must be diligent rather than emotional. However, Jetro has been a class player this season and looks to be one of the best left-backs in the Premier League.

The hope is that his surgery is successful and that Jetro can come back stronger than ever. We are sure Newcastle will monitor his progress and make every effort to bring him back if it’s the right move to make.

Paul Dummett has also taken to Twitter and issued the following message.

This is another terrible blow for Paul Dummett. The local lad had been getting a lot of first-team football but has again had a season disrupted by injury.

Unfortunately, this latest injury has ended this one, but Paul will do everything to be ready for the start of the next campaign.

Encouraging words, these, from Willems. It sounds like he’s decided where he wants to be next season. Also sounds like he’s had assurances from NUFC with his definitive assertion that it’s not his last game for us.

    Promising.

Dummett sounds depressed, and who can blame him? He’s had a tough time with injuries over the years.

Been good discussing actual football matters rather than the usual sniping, childish arguments and abusive comments.

Bought back the good ol days on here for a short time, so before that goes to pot……I’m off for the night. Have fun all

Sunderland can have Nathan Harper, we’ve got Nathan Harker in our under 23s and he’s a beast.

I can’t say I’ve seen any of Josef Martinez in any game, nor had I seen Almiron before he came here other than YT. Hard to argue against his goal record but didn’t Bradley Wright Phillips or someone rip up some records himself?

Do need someone of his ilk through. Natural, pacy and strong striker, makes a lot of runs and plays on the shoulder. Somebody who has the knack for scoring.

Could have got the guy in his eye. Got to stop doing that. Like Ritchie though. He’s not a left back though. Would be a good impact sub on the wing. Can cross the ball.

Think we should re-sign Slimani. Think he’d do better second time around. He’s fast and can score.

Lille or Lyon? Thought it was Lyon after him?

Just seen links with yussuf poulsen. Don’t see us in for him but I really like the player. Hardly the profilic goal scorer although did score a lot last year but their team is set up for Werner to get the goals.

Just seen, KTE signed for Lyon, loan with option to buy for €20m. Think that’s a good deal like. But it means we’re getting Moussa Dembele from Lyon!! 😉

Does he pass to team mates?

    What’s his assists like?

    Bowen currently has 6 assists.

I’ve seen bits of him, he works hard and does the leg work. That’s when he was on the wing. Not seen him when he’s played more close to centre like this season.

    Cheers Ron.

    Rob

I can understand the CM as Shelvey doesn’t cut it for me, Ki isn’t pulling up any trees which leaves Hayden and the Longstaffs.

I don’t see the point in the other Lad, from the Dennis wise scouting technique he doesn’t look any better than Atsu.

What do I know though, we might be playing a new formation that requires several wingers.

I’d just like to see a striker who threatens a bit, the three we have aren’t exactly greased lightning or tricky tricksters or hot shot hamish.

On Bowen, 15 mill plus Atsu, give that a try.

Gutted for Willems and hope we still consider buying him. All the best to him and Dummett with their recoveries.

Joelinton I’ll give more time. I wrote Manquillo off and now I’m hoping he gets a new deal. Slight difference in transfer fee I know Haha

Hopefully once Bentalab is up to speed he will slot in next to Hayden or S Longstaff, with one sitting while the other gets forward, with Bentalab looking to get forward most often. If he adds a bit of pace, forward passing and running to the engine room he’ll improve us quite a lot.

We do need another wide attacker, having only Almiron, St Max and Atsu, and another left wing back now.

Don’t think Bruce sees the immediate need for a striker, with us basically having Joelinton up top, Carroll off the bench and Muto and Gayle as cover, unless we shift the latter two, or at the very least one. We don’t really need 4, and I’d say he’ll persevere with Joel as first choice, especially as he’s now showing signs of finding his feet as a target man.

Can’t see us getting both Bowen and Lazaro either. It’ll be one or the other.

Sean Longstaff gets a bit of stick, but to me he’s our best centre mid going both ways, and he might well prove to be the best option we have alongside Bentalab.
