Shearer Names Three Newcastle Players In His Team Of The Week

Alan Shearer has named his Team of the Week from this weekend’s Premier League action. As expected, Ciaran Clark is in the team. However, so are Federico Fernandez and Isaac Hayden.

This is the third time this season that Federico Fernandez has been picked by Alan Shearer. He was selected for the draw against Manchester City as well as the wins against Sheffield United.

It’s a first for both Ciaran Clark and Isaac Hayden this year. With Alan specifically mentioning Clark in his tweet after the Chelsea win, it seemed like a foregone conclusion that the 30-year-old would make his Team of the Week.

Isaac Hayden also gets in after playing a significant part in the three points on Saturday. Not only did Isaac get the game-winner, but he played both in the midfield and then moved to right wing-back when Emil Krafth came off.

His versatility has been vital to Newcastle over the past few weeks as the team’s dealt with an extended injury crisis.

How Will Newcastle Do At Everton On Tuesday?

  • Draw (35%, 944 )
  • Win (35%, 936 )
  • Lose (30%, 790 )

I would disagree with Fede, but that’s only because his passing was below par (by his own standards anyway), but I know AS singled him out on MATD for praise.

I personally thought after Clark Lascelles was the best defender on the day? Still, I’m looking at it through a fan’s eyes rather than an ex-pro’s eyes.

Win/Draw/Lose tomorrow is a third each on the above poll.

Kinda suggests to me none of us have a clue what will happen.

Can’t say I’m overly inspired by the two deals on the cards.

More important positions to look at first, is it a case of we’re signing what’s available for the sake of it?

So if we were to get Bentaleb , Lazaro and Bowen then I don’t think anyone could argue that Bruce has had a much better selection of players to work with than Rafa did ?

Be the best group of players Bruce has ever worked with I imagine

I think Lazaro will be seen as a winger rather than rob/rwb. So do think if it happens then it means no Bowen.

    Need a striker and a lb/lwb.

Nabil could drop straight int the team, all he needs to know is that if we’re in posession pass the ball forward, if we’re defending , get behind the ball, if no pass on run at the opposition till yo see either St Max or Miggy running past you and play it in front of them to run onto.
    Simples.
Our problem at the minute is that nobody is capable of passing and dribbling forwards from midfield

wouldn’t be upset with those 3 players, but we now need a fb and a out n out goal scorer wouldn’t go amiss 😉

Back to the loan discussion. Premier league rule book is all for domestic related loans. Does not include foreign loans. Couldn’t find fifa handbook for this though. Did find comments by warnock last season complaining how he is limited.

“Heaven knows why we can only have two Premier League loans in. When you are talking about English players needing experience – our younger players for the English team – and we can’t loan more than one more player.
I’ve got Harry Arter, so I can’t take a young English striker or a young English midfield player if I’ve got another one (on loan). It’s scandalous, really. You can bring 10 from abroad, so who are we trying to help? Who has invented these rules? It’s a disgrace, really, when I could be giving another good young English lad an opportunity of playing in the Premier League.”

Plus there’s no way we were allowed to break premier league rules when we had three loans on the books at once.

Nazarro and bentalab are loans , Bowen ( which I don’t think is happening) would be a perm -naz and bentalab have both fallen out of favour and are down the pecking order of current clubs – got to wonder why , especially bentalab who also fell out of favour with poch

Don’t know if any one else noticed he kept looking down at his right leg I think it was and rubbing it

I also think we cover more ground chasing the ball than most of the teams around us, this won’t help with the injuries, on the plus side though, only 2 or 3 players are allowed into the opposition half unless we get a corner or free kick so less running there

According to NUFC.com, Lazaro has been used on the left by Inter this season, although he’s predominantly right sided.

Can he cover the Matt Ritchie at LWB, while being generally used on the right? Would give Manquillo time to get back and fit, who realistically can also cover on the left too.

Do we need a LB to cover willems, if Lazaro signs?

Lazaro and Bentelab would be good additions. Bowen doesn’t seem likely but would assume if he moves it’ll be on or very close to deadline day.

Left wing back cover, don’t think the returning Aarons is good enough but happy for him to prove me wrong.

If Chelsea go and sign Chilwell can we bring Alonso in until the end of the season. Unlikely I know.

Fairly big risk with Gayle and Muto out plus Carroll missing games that if Joelinton gets injured we don’t have a striker.

Jeez, the frog loves to put a downer on things – if we win, then it’s in spite of ‘the traitor’; if we sign a player, it’s not in the right position; if a player comes back from injury, then there’s a great excuse to not bother signing anyone new.

Are you as miserable in the rest of your life?

    From https://www.alfredopedulla.com/%EF%BB%BFesclusiva-lazaro-il-lipsia-ci-prova-il-newcastle-resta-in-pole/

“Valentino Lazaro has decided to leave Inter to play with greater continuity after a first part of the season that has not given him too much visibility. Newcastle remain on pole, after the recent meeting with the agent, a total appreciation confirmed by manager Bruce who is in a hurry to close. Precisely for this reason in the next few hours Newcastle will try to define the total agreements also to avoid other insertions. In the last hours of he tried Leipzig with determination but the English club is still in the lead and now wants to close.”

OP #4, it makes sense to go for the best value in life – buy a fridge if you see one at a knock down price and it’s better than your old one, get a car off a mate if they’re offering it up for a quick sale and it’s better than your current one.

The problem with our regime is that they don’t understand that you can’t do that with proven strikers, who are always in demand and therefore never offered at a knock-down price.

Therefore we end up with a surfeit of good defenders, midfielders and goalkeepers, and always struggle for goals.

That said, if we can improve our squad at all in a January window, then I’ll take it – it’s progress and I think Lazaro, Bentaleb and Bowen (least likely of the three) would each be an improvement to our squad.

Would still love us to sign a guaranteed 15-20 goal / season striker though.

Bentelab good loan signing, spurs used him more defensively but he’s got more to his game. Good work by Frank aswell, announced it before it was announced…..top work bud.

Bentaleb will be perfect to start in fa cup at weekend, get his fitness levels up, good all round midfielder.

Whoop good bit of news adding a couple of decent players to our ranks, both with good fees to buy in the summer if prove to be successful.

Is a bit odd I agree though that we are very short at left back and striker. I see us getting a left back through but unlikely a fourth signing at striker

Steve Bruce hopes Bentaleb will allay longstanding fears about an alleged attitude problem during the next few months after joining a Newcastle side in need of reinforcement in central midfield. Meanwhile Bruce hopes to announce the signing of the Austria winger Valentino Lazaro from Internazionale, also on loan, within the next 24 to 48 hours.

Joelinton is still adjusting, wont ever be prolific but looked much better at weekend. Think we can get by with him, carroll and gayle as striker 3 and muto as 4th option.

Showed that when we get bodies in box joelinton can be handy from crosses, also done well moving quickly for ASM to find from throwin, chelsea were caught on backfoot. Won corner, scored goal from that smart play so not always about scoring goals!!

hibbit, nowt new there, for sure.

Just watch, Joelinton’s going to go on a run. His dander’s up, he’s getting some service into the box and he’ll get us a goal a game for the next 15 games. We’ll be the terrors of the league, every other team will fear our newly confident, strutting striker and retreat deep into their own halves, leaving us to boss the game from the halfway line.

Or, we’ll continue to struggle along with 30% possession and the odd scruffy goal off the side of the face of our makeshift right back, whilst assaulting our own fans with increasingly heavy items of pitch equipment.

Just wait till Jamaal rips the goal frame out of the ground and clubs a 7 year old girl around the chops with it. Oh how we’ll laugh!

    😉
