Newcastle did not play well tonight at Goodison Park which is a bit of a bogey ground for us.
We were down 1-0 at the half and then 2-0 after 53 minutes and were lagging behind a more sprightly Everton side.
But then Steve Bruce made some changes after Everton’s second goal and you cannot make this stuff up.
It was French center-back Florian Lejeune who scored two goals late in stoppage time to give Newcastle a valuable point – an undeserved point but who cares – we are on 30 points after 24 games.
This side just never gives up and it must have been great to be at the game tonight on Merseyside.

Comment #2Ridiculous. unreal. Undeserved. But there’s a lesson there.. We can’t always hoy 9 men forward but we can attack with urgency occasionally. Have to say the shellacking the lads were getting on here. Esp. the Longstaffs who are still raw is close to appalling – not to mention self-defeating. You’re all starry eyed n all touchy feely over Bentaleb now… yeah right til he has a poor game then Sean Longstaff is the second coming (again)…
JP – no need to skip … I’m away. B watching the new positive U from afar tho pup.

Comment #3Lejuene and Schar to start on Saturday then…
Give Tom Allan a start instead of Atsu. Saivet is better than Atsu!!
Credit where it’s due, twice Kraft showed Fernandez and Lascelles how to defend when he came on.

Carlo Ancelotti clasped his hands in utter disbelief. He was not alone. The Everton manager has inherited a team with a reputation for throwing points away but this was a spectacular implosion by even their standards. Two goals up in injury time, completely in control against a Newcastle team that had shown no attacking intent in the second half whatsoever, and yet they were held to a draw thanks to two goals in the 94th minute from substitute Florian Lejeune. Steve Bruce cavorted onto the pitch in celebration of a most unexpected heist.
Until the final seconds Everton were cruising towards a third win in three home Premier League games under their new manager…………

Comment #10Newcastle captain Jamaal Lascelles speaking to Match of the Day: “It’s probably one of the weirdest game I’ve been involved in.
“They were the better team but we’ve come back from being two goals down and that shows the spirit and courage in this team. So we’re pleased with that.
“The work ethic carries on throughout all the game. They dropped off and allowed us to play, which benefited us towards the end of the game. We had good subs as well.
“It would be nice to have a cup run but a lot happens in cups and you’ve got to approach it in the right way.”

Comment #11The Longstaffs both looked more comfortable when Hayden joined them in midfield, I think both are more suited to playing in a 3 with the other sitting in front of the defence.
Both made mistakes but both never gave up and covered a lot of ground too.

Comment #22Watching this game In hope ..hoping we matched Everton and put a shift in..well we were a disgrace to the game ..Couldnt string 3 passes together ..shamefull football ..we are absolutly dire.
I am overjoyed at the result …amazed even ! But the football when it comes to creativity and forward play ..yuk .
Watching a Newcastle United team with that ethos ..apart from the defending , it’s horrendous to watch .
I was seething watching that ..horrible.
And Joelinton made one ..one little sprint , one little effort in the first half .. his heads someplace else ..he does not want to be here and Bruce is playing him on Ashleys instructions via the baldy one.

Nobody lauds the performance. We laud the result in spite of it. How can we support the horrible football? We support the team regardless of the poor show. That’s what fans do. And if you were a supporter, you’d be supporting your club the way we support ours instead of spending your sad existence on our blog.

Can you note take the point that almost every time you post your having a go at fans who are entitled to a different opinion to your one without having to deal with you and the slagging off you give them for voicing their honest opinions ..
If your entitled to an opinion they are too ..without you giving them a kicking very time they post something you don’t agree with..
You then carry it on day after day …
Your a Buffoon and very childish.

Comment #29carltoon, proper little girly tantrum wasn’t it? Hilarious!!!!
I think that’s Lejeune back up to match fitness, by the way. Next time he walks on the pitch he’ll feel 10 foot tall!
These results have to give the lads confidence that they can beat anyone.
Incidentally, I didn’t see the whole game (Dad taxi) but I saw the first 10 minutes and last five of the first half and the last 20 minutes of the second and I thought we were playing ok.
It looked like we were pressing the ball higher up the pitch, playing the ball more confidently and keeping possession better.
The stats seem to back it up – 45% possession away from home is not too shabby. 8 shots in the game, 4 corners. Seems like standard fare for an away match.
You can see Bentaleb is going to improve us, though – his half turns and driving runs into the attacking third will change our momentum going forward, too many passes sideways and backwards hurt us in attack and he will improve that, hopefully.

Comment #32Wow, what a rollercoaster that was! After such a poor show managing to hijack a draw felt like a win in the end! And before anyone slams me for celebrating a draw, it’s all in context of the below par display. At this stage with so many key players out injured, I’ll take the ugly win and refuse to defend the celebration

Comment #35Well TBF over the years we’ve had some rotten decisions and many a game that just hadn’t gone our way, I believe we even had (probably still have) a fair old record for lack of penalties awarded – but now for some crazy inexplicable reason something’s lining up so I suppose we have to say we’ve earned a big chunk of stuff going our way and it’s as well it’s happening now because it’s not our fancy Dan football doing the job that’s fo’ sho’. 🙂

Comment #36OLG, I take a kicking, and if I dish it out in return it’s in retaliation. I highlighted a different narrative on benitex while still saying he was good for us and I have been pilloried by a bunch of goons on here who can’t think laterally and are rafa obsessives. If Bruce does well they don’t seem fully happy. Because it doesn’t fit their agenda. Stuff that, and if you don’t like me, piss off and ignore me, I’m fine with that. And take some of your more stupid bullying acquaintances with you.

Comment #40Bruce is the all time negative tactician of the Premier League. And he has to get the forwards firing, but not the way he sets his team. Lousy football.aweful. I would not pay to see that type of negativity. Fancy, relying mon the backs to score, disgusting.
