The Telegraph is reporting that Newcastle are considering a loan move for Tottenham left-back Danny Rose.

The 29-year-old was considered an unlikely target in the summer when it seemed like he was destined for a move. However, the England international stayed with Spurs but has found little playing time since Jose Mourinho replaced Mauricio Pochettino in November.
Since Mourinho took over, Rose has just 1 Premier League start and not made the matchday squad on five occasions. There have also been recent reports of a brewing problem between Danny and the Spurs manager, though Mourinho has refuted reports of a bust-up with his left-back.

A player falling out of favor with his club could again work to Steve Bruce’s and Newcastle’s benefit. The club has just signed former Tottenham midfielder Nabil Bentaleb on loan with an option to buy.
Bentaleb had not featured for Schalke since last April and been banished to the reserves this season. Newcastle were able to use Schalke’s desperation to offload the 25-year-old to their advantage and get an excellent deal for Bentaleb.
Maybe, Newcastle can work that angle once again and bring in Danny Rose, who is a quality left-back. We doubt it would be anything more than a loan until the end of the season, with Rose being 29.
However, he would definitely provide Bruce an experienced option at a position we are now lacking in with Jetro Willems and Paul Dummett out for the season. Rose could also welcome the move to get increased game time with the European Championships looming this summer.

14 – Every one of Nabil Bentaleb’s last 14 goals in all competitions for FC Schalke 04 came from the penalty spot. He last scored a non-penalty goal in November 2016 vs Werder Bremen in the German Bundesliga. Spot.

Comment #45Not a sports direct logo insight in all of the Bentaleb’s reveal photos. Probably due to MA changing branding but i dunno its interesting to say the least, especially if we make any more signings this window which don’t have the shite direct boards

you have this opinion of yourself and your posts that you give fair and balanced opinion on all things nufc. but in reality you do not,
you have this one dimensional opinion and you stick to it, in your eyes your right and that’s it,
no other posters opinions can possible be right if it conflicts with yours, and if by chance someone dares to question your opinions you immediately revert to type with your standard low ball insults,
just thought i would give you my fair and balanced appraisal. as you are always so keen to pass on yours

Any predictions for tonight? Our record vs Everton is very poor. Based on that I’ll go with a 2-1 win for us.

Asked if Allan Saint-Maximin will start tonight, Steve Bruce said: ‘That’s the consideration we’re just weighing up. We’ve got so many coming back from injury, it’s always going to be a bit of a juggling act.’

I’d say this window is a joke and represents zero value hence not spending any money other than loans. Rose may well be a stop gap but a very good one to say the least.
Bentaleb is a loan with option to buy and that’s peanuts in todays market so no complaints from me

Comment #75Luckily we have Almiron and ASM as upfield outlets to receive the ball from Bentaleb. Two players who have not been totally brainwashed to venture beyond the half way line.
I predict after a short time frame Bentaleb will not see Joelinton as an outlet. Basically as he is more than often going to lose the ball.
Top players or aspiring top players want to test their skills in the best league – which is currently the PL.

Comment #76Great signing if he gets back to even 70% of previous form. Can’t believe people are moaning that we didn’t just pay the money this is completely no risk and the best way to do business.

Someone like enda stephens would relish a move to Newcastle and fairly low profile so wouldn’t cost too much. He’d be a Dummett type player. Plenty of PL experience and blades play the same style as us
That is if there is a small pot available of course

Comment #79I’ve been saying since the start of the season that we desperately needed a CM who could run with the ball and pass well inside the last third instead of the static play of the Longstaffs and Shelvey’s hollywood stuff.
If the new CM could put a tackle in so much the better, because not one of the above three can or does. And Bentaleb can.
IMO that type of CM was almost as much a priority as a CF because it will create so much more space for Jo, Al and ASM who are far too easy to mark when balls are being passed sideways or hoofed up front.
If the new guy gets up to speed quick anf gets near his top form he could transform the way we play and especially how we attack.
Well spotted by Bruce that we needed this type of player.
