New Signing Certain To Make Debut On Saturday – Other Potential Deal Looks Uncertain

We have signed Nabil Bentaleb on loan from Schalke 04 for the rest of the season with an option to buy for €10M this summer.

That’s an excellent deal, but our other immediate target – right-sided Austrian International midfielder Valentino Lazaro may prefer to sign for RB Leipzig in the Bundesliga.

Lazaro is said to have enjoyed playing in the Bundesliga with Hertha BSC and would like to return to the German league in preference to Newcastle in the Premier League.

We’d be surprised if we can get the Inter-Milan midfielder to Newcastle on loan with an option to buy this month – but it’s still possible if not probable.

Neil has a report out today that Leipzig are not happy with the 23M transfer fee so he could become available – but we only want players who want to play for newcastle as their first choice.

Bentaleb, on the other hand, was very eager to join Newcastle, and that’s always nice to see, and he is physically fit but not match-fit.

So it seems a perfect time to give him a game against Oxford United on Saturday in the FA Cup 4th round tie.

Newcastle have a chance to get to the 5th round of the FA Cup for the first time in Mike Ashley’s 13 year tenure as the woeful Newcastle United owner.

Nabil Bentaleb– almost certain to play against Oxford United on Saturday

The Chronicle are reporting that 42,000 tickets have already been sold for the game, so it looks like the lads will get the backing of a nearly full house on Saturday.

It follows their heroics of the last three minutes of last night’s Premier League game at Goodison Park.

We looked a well-beaten side – down 2-0 – until substitute Florian Lejeune turned up with two goals right at the death.

Cristiano Ronaldo would have been happy with Florian’s first goal, which was an acrobatic overhead bicycle kick with the ball whizzing into the back of the net.

The Everton defenders seemed stunned that a Newcastle player had tried to score a goal!

Newcastle manager Steve Bruce has been keen on Bentaleb for a few years now, and the Algerian International could make his first start for the club on Saturday with Bruce needing to rest some players after another hectic spell of games.

This is what Steve Bruce said about the 25-year-old Algerian after last night’s 2-2 draw at Goodison Park:

“With the problems with what we’ve got, to keep it under wraps for a few weeks, he’s somebody who we identified and he’s a very good player.”

“The kid’s played at the highest level for Spurs and particularly impressed as a young player when he first burst onto the scene.”

“Then he gets a big-money move to Schalke, where he’s played probably played 90-100 times at the top end of the Bundesliga so he’s a good acquisition for us.”

“A good player.”

Now we need to make no mistakes on Saturday and beat Oxford United, who eliminated us at the same stage back when we were in the Championship in 2017 by an embarrassing score of 3-0.

We must win this game to keep the momentum going.

Howay The Lads!!

    As I said on previous

Stuff Lazaro, he made his bed.

I don’t want another Loic Remy, a player that doesn’t want to be here.

Lazaros agent said he had options, he chose his option.

Unlikely as it is, i hope we have other options.

OP, not sure it’s the lad doing this but his agent. We should be setting a deadline though, take it or leave it, to get the guy to make a decision.

    Maybe we already have?

A gate of 42000 will give Oxford around £420000 as a share of the gate money, not bad for a night out for their club!

    Rob

It’s bad enough we sign the third or fourth player down the list, being second choice to one of them isn’t the way to build a team or squad.

Agent can’t be blamed for the players choice of club, he may have got him a better deal but that says the kid is all about money.

    No thanks

With the announcement of the new signing playing vs Oxford
the gate on Saturday may get pushed to near capacity in a last
minute flurry of tickets sales – if so it will be a remarkable experience for
    the League One lads.

Essex, your £420k for Oxford assumes that the average price for a ticket’ll turn out to be £20 for an attendance of 42k.

How much are tickets on sale for?

This suggestion may sound facetious but I’m being totally sincere when I say why not switch Joelinton with Lejeune?
Not based solely on last night’s evidence but as an observation over a period of time, Lejeune is a much better ball striker, more aware of where the goal is , good in the air and seems to have bought into the team spirit.
Joelinton on the other hand is not bad in the air, not easily bullied out of possession but a crap striker of the ball with no goal scoring instinct. He would do a job in defence and Lejeune would score more than him for sure.

He has been part of why we’ve got good results
It’s when he doesn’t want to know, that’s when we should put big flor up top alongside big A and give em hell

Not sure about this round, but I imagine it’s the same as last round.

Ten pounds for an adult, five pounds for concessions, plus a one pound booking fee per ticket.

Can’t think the Oxford pay day will be as big as that, otherwise NUFC would be making a massive loss.

Earlier today Boycott Ashley ( OP ) referred to Munster as a Shit Bag.
This fella really is a disgrace.

I first recall reading some of Munsters stuff in our Championship season. I have always been interested in his comments. Not a Rafa lover. Gave him his due, but like some not a Rafa lover.
That’s no excuse for the comments of OP.
    Disgraceful.

This is the fella, OP that is, who said of the supporters who went to the Rochdale game – The 29 thousand in the ground were not scabs they are Ashley’s PR team.

That’s you he is talking about. The match going supporters of NUFC.
He’s not been to a game for 8 years by the way.

I’ll tell you who was at the Rochdale game. 3K Rochdale supporters. A few thousand non regulars.
20-25 thousand proper supporters. The real supporters of NUFC.

When 42K-45K go to the Oxford game I can only presume he will feel the same. That you are all part of Ashley’s PR team.

OP Is all right. Well he was for many moons.
He’s just unhappy Bruce is currently succeeding.
It’s a classic case of being driven mad by Ashley’s awful policies and then wanting to see Ashley fail over than seeing the the team win matches.

Quite a few fans(and on here) suffer from the same state of mind but they are in the minority. Hopefully they learn to enjoy our positive results.

    Munster

Your entitled to your opinion on Rafa
So are others, for or against the man

Thing is you are banging on about how others are now seeing things differently over Rafa and the tide is turning towards your opinion on Rafa etc’ and you say others are now gathering in agreement with you re’ Rafa ,

well that’s a clear attempt at manipulation . Others are now seeing the light and questioning Rafas football you keep saying and people are now in agreement with you .. I for one am not .

Your trying to turn opinion in your favour and trying to manipulate with statements like that almost daily.

Read this ..People who supported Rafa still support him.

The stability and results he brought to Newcastle United are well noted and documented ..he also gave fans some hope and their pride back ..we were never ever pushovers and always gave any team a very hard game .

Rafa could only work with what he had ..we have no Willian.. no Hazard.. we have decent average players and with that Rafa had to play the percentages (important point ) and view the season as a whole ..the bigger picture, and the position at season’s end was foremost.

That and all the community work Rafa participated in and promoted, set standards here .

Stop this tide turning in your favour with other posters propaganda ‘re Rafa

..its an attempt to manipulate this blog .

In The FA cup the gate money is split 3 ways. The two clubs obviously and the FA get a slice. Less expenses of course.

Course it isn’t, fancy not remembering about lying at the TMG meeting then lying to everyone on here, fancy that, how strange.

This morning you attacked me, defending Munster without even reading his comment which you even admitted, jump to conclusions or any chance to have a go at me?

You and the other victim always talk about bullies and gangs on here, what does your behaviour towards me suggest?

    Fair and balanced?
