Jacob Murphy was handed his 12th start for Sheffield Wednesday at Wigan this afternoon. The 24-year-old scored his 4th goal of the season in the 32nd minute to put the Owls up 1-0. However, Wigan were able to snatch two second-half goals to get all three points.
BRILLIANT! The ball from Bannan to release Fox, then the ball in from the left back was inch-perfect for Murphy to head home!

Midfielder Dan Barlaser made his 10th straight start for Rotherham as they defeated Ipswich Town 1-0 at home this evening. It was Dan’s 25th start in all competitions since joining the Millers. The win keeps Rotherham top of League One on 50 points.

Kelland Watts made his debut in the starting eleven for Mansfield Town as they traveled to face Oldham. However, it was one to forget for the 20-year-old as Mansfield fell 3-1 to the Latics. Watts played the entire game and was used in a defensive midfield role. The loss drops The Stags to 21st in League Two just 2 points above the relegation places.

Comment #2Wouldn’t it be lovely to think that this is the final days of MA?
Pete Graves being a Newcastle fan must be just as sick of this rubbish as we all are.
Oh well hopefully we will know by the end of the week.

8 points Neil, only 1 team will be relegated because of Bury’s demise.

Comment #6I think there is a realistic chance of this sale happening, but I think there’s still a chance it will all fall through. Cautiously optimistic, at the moment, but Ashley is unpredictable.
I’m also not keen on the idea of putting a timescale on it – we just don’t have enough evidence of how far along things are. If it happens by the end of this week then I’ll be delighted, but if not then there’s no way I’ll be thinking it’s over.

Fair enough point but I don’t think he’s really said anything new, except maybe that MA wants to sell.
Must be weird for him as he’s a former season ticket holder and must have to toe the party line, I would get sacked as I would be telling every fan I could

Comment #12Rob I’ve been optimistic from Saturday or whenever it broke. Once you start seeing Wall Street Journal and no denials from the powerful PIF, then I felt we were moving. As I said earlier, it all comes down to this : can Ashley give up on his advertising, can he get over the fact that SD won’t be all over the TV worldwide anymore when we play?

Comment #15Munster, same here. I’m still a little conflicted over the morality of the Saudi State being connected with us, but if they don’t buy us then they’re likely to buy another club, so really it’s not an issue that’s down to us to decide.
That may just be me in denial, I’ll admit.
One real concern I have is having Amnesty International or whoever using SJP as a focal point for demonstrations as they can’t very well demonstrate in Saudi Arabia itself. If they try to disrupt matchday access to the ground in some form, it could get ugly.
Of course, the bid is being fronted by Staveley and the Reubens by all accounts, with money from an investment fund backing it, so there’s at least arms-length distance between the club and the regime, it’s not like MbS is going to be the actual owner, the majority shareholder will be the PIF.

Amnesty international have previous of this, they raised the same nonsense with man city a few years back and also the joshua fight. Maybe they need to get off that high horse and call everyone out on a level playing field.

Comment #29I think even by some miracle if the sale goes through we won’t see any big transfers this window. I think we’ll struggle on with what we’ve got until the end of the season while they put their new hierarchy in place and then hopefully big changes in the summer.

Comment #30Sometimes in life there is a time for everything.
Maybe previously Ashley didn’t want to sell because he didn’t need to sell.
Perhaps now the wind changed direction and with retail in crisis he needs to sell so wants to sell.
Purely on a commercial basis ( excluding football matters) the time is right to sell as he would leave the business in a better financial state than the disaster that is Man Utd or West Ham and a good few others .Also realising that to compete at the Super club level requires a level of investment outside of his comfort zone. Doing a deal to sell and maintaining an advertising presence at the ground on a favourable deal could be tolerable business for all concerned and no loss of face either which is how the Arab nations and Chinese view deals.
That’s win win if it happens.

Comment #31I think 41 points is the target to stay up this season. We need to beat the teams around us.
No chance we will sign a striker now, might get Rose in on the left.
This takeover is more strategic genius from Ashley not to spend again.

Comment #37Take it slow, focus on building top notch infrastructure first and foremost, and on buying high quality hungry young players, but also bring in one big marquee player to really excite the crowd, an attacking mid or striker.
