Jacob Murphy was handed his 12th start for Sheffield Wednesday at Wigan this afternoon. The 24-year-old scored his 4th goal of the season in the 32nd minute to put the Owls up 1-0. However, Wigan were able to snatch two second-half goals to get all three points.
BRILLIANT! The ball from Bannan to release Fox, then the ball in from the left back was inch-perfect for Murphy to head home!

Kelland Watts made his debut in the starting eleven for Mansfield Town as they traveled to face Oldham. However, it was one to forget for the 20-year-old as Mansfield fell 3-1 to the Latics. Watts played the entire game and was used in a defensive midfield role. The loss drops The Stags to 21st in League Two just 2 points above the relegation places.

Curious as to what everyone thoughts are if (yes a big if) this takeover happens. Should the new owners splash the cash on big name signings or take it slow building the team up?

Comment #133I can’t think of one media outlet above printing an erroneous story. If it shifts paper or gets clicks and eyes roving past ads they’ll push it out. The more “august” institutions will be canny enough to frame their “news” with “apparentlys” and “according to a source” etc.
But so far no tangible evidence to say a deal is happening. As rightly said, all previous concerted attempts to buy nufc have resulted in the prospective purchasers losing the will to do further business and decide football ownership is not for them any more. No attempts to buy Leeds or Hull or any other large city club. Odd, that. 😉
And every “takeover” has been pathetically public in a fashion that would paint the prospective buyer as a poorly indiscreet negotiator (not to mention a painfully slow one) so they cannot possibly appear to be a prudent owner.
And the bit I really don’t get – what does an ultra billion whatever – currency – you – like fund need with an estate agent on steroids and a small business “financial advisor” (pension plan salesmen) duo to fix a deal for them with a pocket change outfit like Mike Ashley’s NUFC? You’re telling me someone who can get a prominent journalist working for an American rag cut into steaks with a wave of the hand needs a businesswoman (they still have women in prison for asking to wash the family car btw) to sort out a purchase? He’s probably waved his platinum amex at more expensive fake paintings than this club ha ha.
Honestly, stop tying yourself in knots and justifying being owned by this lot. Amnesty international should get off their high horse? There are worse out there you know? They are trying to reform let’s give them a chance because they’ve really cut down (hmm maybe that’s not the word..) on the beheadings? Eh? What? Eh?

Comment #134I can’t wait to hear what this decades excuse will be from Ashley for not selling.
1. I wanted to keep pulling the legs off my play thing because I’m that cruel and petty.
2. The Saudis didn’t play fair so I’m taking my ball home.
3. The Saudis couldnt afford to buy the club.

Comment #137Serve some of you right if he did own the club and he made SJP a micro sovereign enclave under Sharia Law. Nice Halal balti pies but no beer, sorry. And btw do you want your right or left hand cut off for borrowing your mates season ticket? Do they put a sheet of Visqueen down on the centre spot for the half time execution entertainment and fastest lamb slaughtering competitions because the kick off for second half will be slippy? I bet the ref thinks twice about being invited into the “managers office” after a loss. Ladies, leave your driving licence at home btw, and make sure the other half has the spare keys. 🙂

Comment #144On to football matters we still desperately need a Left/Wing Back. I keep seeing suggestions for a loan for Danny Rose but surely we’ve just used our 2 allowed loans so we’d have to buy a player if we do any more business?

Comment #148Ok looks like I have to explain it.
Amanda Staveley is a businesswoman, and the Saudis still have women locked up for driving. The PIF is able to do it’s own negotiations and I contest that someone who can easily organise Extra judicial killings doesn’t really need her as she would probably be superfluous anyway with their amount of money and resources. They buy billion – pound state of the art weaponry pretty confidently, do they need Amanda Staveleys help with that? No misogyny there. Or is it bad to mention that she’s a woman now? Businessperson? Wouldn’t work.

Comment #151And just for clarity I am belittling Amanda Staveley in so far as in comparison to the Saudi governmental business setup she is decidedly small time and her involvement (especially as she has been tagged with previous ludicrous non-deals) would seem superfluous. If it was Derek Staveley I would say the same.

Comment #159I dont think a takeover will happen.
I can see why Amanda S would be involved, if i was buying into an industry i am not in, on a different continent regardless of my wealth I would want someone involved who was experienced in doing it in that country and she was involved with Man City sale which has turned out well for all parties so would be a logical choice.
That person also having a 10% stake also makes sense even though they dont need their money it ensures they are going to do their best on the project in regard to a deal and business development opportunities

Comment #160Do I have to explain how to get a story published on any online edition of media ffs
They are desperate for news to ensure the click through generation keep reading, 1: create p.r ( made up or not ), send to said news agency ( from reputable p.r agency who they know ), printed and rarely validated – other news outlets pick up and add source / people close to deal etc etc.
We use them all the time
