Newcastle are seemingly getting closer to another signing this summer in Tottenham’s Danny Rose. The Daily Mail’s Craig Hope issued the following promising tweet earlier today.
Been reported elsewhere, but I’m told other clubs have now accepted defeat & expect Danny Rose to sign for NUFC. Rose (Leeds born) prefers move back north. Initial loan followed by permanent in summer.

However, if Danny Rose does join in the next few days, someone from the first-team will have to be offloaded. There has been precious little movement on that front reported in the press.
The most likely player to leave would be midfielder Ki Sung-yueng, but we’ve heard nothing recently of any clubs showing interest in the 31-year-old. But Ki has barely featured this season and desperate for a move for first-team football.
Another name has come up that Newcastle could very well be open to letting leave this month. That is Christian Atsu, who has been very inconsistent of late after having a decent start to the season.
Football Insider are reporting that Championship leaders West Brom have identified the Ghanaian as a top target this month and hope to be able to strike a deal to get him in.
Atsu is one of several Magpies whose contracts run out in 2021. However, unlike Jonjo Shelvey, Matt Ritchie, or Fabian Schar, Christian stands little chance of getting an extension at Newcastle.
While Christian has made 22 appearances in all competitions, he’s only started 6 games in the Premier League. The bulk of those were earlier this season when Allan Saint-Maximin went down with his first hamstring injury.
With Valentino Lazaro joining on loan from Inter on Friday, opportunities are going to be even slimmer for the 28-year-old. So moving Christian on this month might be an option Newcastle will consider if an offer comes in.
