Mike Ashley Cannot Kill This Opportunity For Newcastle United

With updates last night from Sky Sports journalist Pete Graves and this morning from George Caulkin on the Athletic’s podcast Pod On The Tyne, it’s seeming almost a certainty that the consortium led by Amanda Staveley with the backing of the Saudi Sovereign Wealth-Fund is legit.

That is despite what beIN Sports anchor and Ashley apologist Richard Keys maintains:

Last night on his Instagram account, Pete Graves asserted that Ashley does want to sell the club, and the deal is with his lawyers at the moment. While George Caulkin didn’t go that far on Pod On The Tyne, he did maintain that an agreement was close.

Both Graves and Caulkin also claim that the leaks were not wanted by either Ashley or the Staveley-led consortium, with Caulkin saying that he feared the leaks would force an adverse reaction from Mike Ashley.

Let’s hope that’s not the case. This is the moment for Ashley to sell the club. There is just no way he can get off of this hook and thwart this massive opportunity for Newcastle United.

However, the Chronicle’s latest piece seems to think that Ashley is stalling for some reason.

The report by Lee Ryder claims that sources close to the deal have insisted there is no timescale to an agreement being reached despite many assertions that the next 48 hours are crucial.

Ryder also confirms that Ashley is unhappy with the leaks and is now investigating how this story was broken. Though, he too contends that this is all down to Mike Ashley accepting what is offered.

There is no great escape for Mike Ashley now. He cannot turn this down and use his familiar excuses of ‘no funds’ or ‘time wasters.’ This group has the money and wants to help Newcastle United fulfill it’s potential.

A collection of Newcastle United fan groups have also issued a collective statement that says as much. It’s time for Mike Ashley to release Newcastle from his grip and allow this club to prosper.

He can. And if its genuine, in my opinion he will. He loves to aimba bi-annual kick in the stots to the fans. So far there is absolutely no difference from the last time. He will find an excuse.

The Crown Prince should have married one of his nephews off to a American actress, all this bad publicity would have disappeared faster than Lord Lucan.

This is now the most critical time
It’s well known Ashley’s favourite negotiating trick is always to line everything up ready to finalise the deal ….then walk away demanding more …its just in his DNA..
Only positive is that staverley will know and be expecting this so maybe is more prepared than last time .

I think it is not a good thing to make deals with people you kill other people in their embassies. Say no to a deal with shit people. Saudies go to hell.

Doesn’t appear to be anything close on Bowen – amount quoted to #nufc last week was huge. Don’t think striker looks close ATM. Rose is wait-and-see.

Think they’ll do one more, minimum.

The conversation in some google translated language between EGB and Jib earlier reminded me of a couple of Beavis and Butthead types who were in one of my classes at school. When they weren’t sniggering at each other talking backwards they were drawing senip’s on their desks.

I always think backing Ashley into a corner will make him more stubborn and more likely to stick 2 fingers up to everyone.

He’s a sociopath, it has to be his generous decision to move away, not from pressure from others.

Does everyone have their plans in place if/when it is done?

This is a stupid story, Ashley upset over leak.

Well dkhead, the group comes in with what you want, the group has financial clout and investment for the club, something you said you wanted.

So your upset with the leak, get over yourself, if you didn’t take four months of vacation the deal with have been done, MA, at your market stall someone’s come up and says I’ll buy that top for the money it’s advertise, did you take four months to sell it.

Only this fcuking guy could screw up something so simple.

2021 Champions League final is in St. Petersburg, I’m booking my hotel room now to beat the rush. Getting the 5* Putin Penthouse suite which is more than I would normally pay but I’m spending my winnings in advance for the £500 bet I just put on for us to win the league next year. Anyone wants to sleep on the pullout bed just send me your sort code, PIN number and mother’s maiden name and I’ll try to get it over the line

OP “The Crown Prince should have married one of his nephews off to a American actress”

There is a ‘close’ friendship between the Crown Prince himself and Lyndsay Lohan, although Lohan’s father has said it’s purely platonic.

And sorry why some of you wants Rafa back? Is he one yota better than Bruce. No, he is an old man, who had to work in China because no others want him. Please let him in China. We don’t need a new coach at the moment. And on saturday we sent Norwich home with a 4 to 0.

If this actually happens then there will be a huge discussion amongst the whole of society not just within football as to whether it’s morally acceptable etc etc. The Saudis do not have a good human rights record and some of their corporal and capital punishments are barbaric to say the least.
However all I would ask if they do take over is to not allow AshLie to slink off into the sunset with his pot of gold.

What I think would be more appropriate for all concerned is that on the day of the takeover and his departure , he should be affixed to a cross ( preferably with nails) in the centre circle at SJP so that fans can bid him a fitting farewell.

Think they will gamble on Carroll and Joe stumbling us over the safety line or for a striker …
Adabayour on loan ? Would feel like an upgrade on what we have currently .

Got to find it amusing that we went into the transfer window with it painfully obvious we needed a striker more than anything and now from the update if we are to get anything else it will be more likely a Lb or lwb before a striker… *facepalm* guess we are relying on our defenders for the remainder of the season

He can kill it off and he will.
    Why?
Because he gets 100 million a year from SKy and free advertising. 100 million x 30 ( a conservative estimate of the years left on his life) is a lot more than 350 million. There will be about 5 relegations in that 30 years so we need to deduct some dosh when he spends to get promoted.
Put it another way. He bought NUFC to make money and he is making more money now than 13 years ago so it would be crazy to sell.
