Conflicting Reports On Loan Move For Newcastle Striker

The Daily Mail are reporting that Nottingham Forest are readying a loan offer for Newcastle striker Dwight Gayle for the rest of the season. The offer would include a £15m obligation to buy if Forest are promoted this season.

This information though has been disputed by Paul Taylor, who covers Forest for the Athletic.

Dwight Gayle is likely out until well into next month with his hamstring injury, so this does sound like an unlikely move. Newcastle will also want to have another striker signed up before letting Gayle leave.

While the club must open up a squad spot for Danny Rose, we don’t think it’s Dwight Gayle that will be sacrificed for the left-back.

If a club did make a late effort to bring Gayle in, we wouldn’t be opposed to that as long as a replacement was brought in. However, that’s looking less likely as this window winds down.

Can’t see Gayle going anywhere – Bruce has said on numerous occasions that he’s been wanting to work with Gayle for years and could never get him and is looking forward to having him back fully fit.

I think the club is looking for a back-up for Carroll, if anything.

Why would anyone be interested in Gayle? He’s been useless for years and was a diving coward when we really needed him.

Steve Bruce says Dwight Gayle is not for sale in the January transfer window.

The Toon boss woke up to headlines suggesting Gayle has a £20million price tag – payable at the end of the season – for those clubs who want him on loan.

But Bruce, who started Gayle against Wolves with the striker providing an assist, shut down talk of an exit.

    He said: “How many times?

“ I just said to the press yesterday . I’ve been asked this question time and time again. Why am I going to let him go on loan? And to where?”

Bruce said: “I’ve waited for him for two and a half months because he’s been injured, then the team has done OK so he’s found it a struggle to get in.

“I’ve started him twice in the last four or five games! He was excellent today.

“He’s not going anywhere, it’s quite simple.”

    Lochinvar,

Hes also a Man u fan so he might be a bit sour. It’s hard to imagine a story of that veracity only being in the Irish papers, and obviously it’s not in the UK papers or everyone would know about it on here.

But worryingly he did say it was this mornings paper. But my guess is hes sour or he miss read it thinking it was a quote from the crown prince.

When I hear back from him I’ll know more.

Seems like a lot of knee jerk reactions on the basis of an unproven winger talking to Palace and someone not remotely linked to NUFC or PIF waffling on Twitter.

Bowen might be great or might not.

The Saudis might buy us or might not.

    Chill some cans and relax.

Of course what do I know, my avatar is Charnley as a boiled egg.

Can you explain to me how this helps Ashley sell season tickets
He has had to give 10000 away
If this is a fakeover ,and proved so ,he will have to give another 10000 away
The whole thing about renewal dates is a non issue ,you can cancel payments at will .
It is then up to Ashley to chase non payment so far he has failed to take action against anyone who cancels
The only thing that will sell season tickets is a takeover or a change of the leopards spot and that ain’t going to happen
    Or am I missing something

Expect Danny Rose to be the last piece of incoming transfer business for Newcastle this transfer window. Steve Bruce happy with quality/depth of squad following additions. Club will look again at strikers in the summer.

Geordie tom good to see that article, I think the offer is for sure there for Ashley, it’s all a question of will he sign it off and be gone.

I don’t think though that the loan signings are a sign of anything, just smart money saving business really, would have loved Piatek or Alcacer =(

You are right about Staveley and City, with players, sure they signed a couple on deadline day as it was announced. Mind I’m sure it wasn’t actually official for a few days or weeks later, but obviously buyout agreed

IrishRob, the quotes you mention were from the Twitter feed of Professor Simon Chadwick, a lecturer in Sports Enterprise at the University of Salford (!) who said he’d been checking with his ‘sources’ (unnamed). Some talking head letting his lips flap.

How can Bruce be happy with that forward line.????
Top scorer in forwards has TWO ffs. after two thirds of season.
We wait 14 years to double our transfer record and end up with a CF with one league goal after 24 games.
    40 million.
We would get 5 if we sold him. Thats 35 million down the pan.
After years of not buying anybody and penny pinching we buy this guy for 40 million. Ashley was actively encouraging it. Anybody smell a rat???

Are they really going to be messed around by Ashley negotiating for a year over 350 million????
The sheik says Whats your price
Ashley says 350 million in one hit.
The sheik hands over the cheque.
Whats to negotiate for a year.????

Most, if not all, of the takeover attempts have been genuine imo. Its just that Ashley has found a way to scupper it each time. We have keen buyers. We just don’t have a seller.

Thanks for the info but that’s the money from the FA and not the gate share, so it will add another £72000 to that amount. should be a canny pay day for them!

    Springy

Re your earlier comment on young Fernandez, he got a bad injury that’s going to sideline him for quite a few weeks, the kids not having much luck.

It seems easy when you put it like that
But Ashley will have lots of niggly bits to try and engineer
Possibly advertising ,logo ,land and the list goes on
The glazers won’t sell Man Utd so there aren’t any other real premier league diamonds like nufc left but they will want it on their terms
I am guessing this is possibly the issue

yorkymag, I agree with what you say. If this is yet another fake over then surely the reuben brother and or pip capital wouldn’t stay quiet they would tell the whole world Ashley made this up.

The number of tickets he would have to give away for free would surely increase.

However if he pulls out from selling to genuine buyers (who ticks the majority if not all of Ashleys demands ie enough cash to take club forward etc) then the whole world except his nearest and dearest would know for definite that he has no wish at all to sell. In this scenario he would have nowhere to hide and no more excuses, surely the atmosphere would become more toxic.
