Newcastle will likely be in the market for a left-back this summer. While we have Danny Rose on loan for the rest of the season, there is no option to purchase.
They’ll also be monitoring the situation at Frankfurt with Jetro Willems. We hope Newcastle find a way to bring the Dutchman back next season after he performed so well before his season-ending knee injury against Chelsea last month.
However, with this sort of injury, there’s no telling when he will be ready to make it back to the pitch. Though a safe option could be to work out another loan arrangement for Jetro next season.
Whether that happens or not, Newcastle could still need another option on the left. One player that Newcastle are said to have been alerted to is Wigan’s Antonee Robinson.
The US U-23 international almost moved to AC Milan last month after the two clubs agreed on a £10m fee for the 22-year-old.
However, a medical was not able to be completed in time before the window closed, so the deal fell through.
Antonee Robinson– Wigan left-back interesting Premier League clubs
The Mirror are reporting that three Premier League clubs are now interested in a summer move for Robinson with Newcastle named as one of the trio. Chelsea and Aston Villa are the other two clubs cited in the report.
Robinson joined Wigan permanently this past summer for just over £2m from Everton on a three-year deal. He had been on loan to The Latics last season and spent the 2017-18 campaign on loan at Bolton.
The Everton Academy product has made a total of 85 appearances in the Championship with 1 goal and 5 assists. While he’s made two appearances for the USMNT U-23 team, he was born in Milton Keynes and has dual citizenship.
Robinson could be an option this summer if AC Milan don’t come back in for him in the summer.
His valuation is already set at around the £10m mark. However, that may go up if a bidding war ensues especially with Chelsea said to be tracking him.

Comment #46Takeover 100% is not happening, Mike Ashley as usual would have agreed to a deal, only to move the goalposts. Hence the “other interested parties”. The bloke is a lying fraud, the sooner he dies the better off the rest of the world will be.
