There is an exclusive report that Newcastle are continuing to watch Scunthorpe’s John McAtee after noticing the forward during a U23 match in late November.
That match was a 3-3 draw in the Premier League Cup in which the 20-year-old put in an impressive performance.
McAtee has since broken into the Iron’s first-team, making his first start on New Year’s Day in a 2-0 win at Oldham. He’s since made another 9 starts scoring 2 goals and providing 2 assists playing primarily as a second striker.
John McAtee– Newcastle keeping tabs on young forward
The youngster is a Shrewsbury Academy product who joined Scunthorpe as a free agent this past summer on just a one year deal. So Newcastle could bring him in this summer on a free.
The report also claims that Newcastle had scouts watch McAtee score the lone goal in a 1-0 win against Cheltenham last Saturday.
McAtee will turn 21 in July and could a player Newcastle look to bring in this summer when he will be available for nothing. He would be one for the future, but if the scouts believe he has enough potential, it could be worth bringing him in.

Comment #1The have basically traced a protester through pictures in the media
Asked him if he would like to talk to the club , but decided to get the police to visit him instead
You think thats a responsible action from a prem league club ?

Comment #10Incorrect phraseology saying it’s a ‘legal’ requirement, nothing more. The fact remains that the club is bound to provide these fans’s forums and has been for years, but continues to neglect its obligations.
I think it was September 2018 when we last had one. Poor show, no excuse.
From the club’s own Supporters’ Charter (yes we have one)
“Newcastle United continues to develop ways to consult with its supporters on a regular basis, with the official Fans Forum a key channel for regular, structured dialogue.”

Comment #11The link in the Supporters Charter no longer links to the Fans’ Forum minutes, but they are still online.

Wonder why they made that link point elsewhere? It now goes to the Fans’ Focus Groups page.

Comment #12It looks like they may have replaced the Forum with these Fans’ Focus Groups.
https://www.nufc.co.uk/fans/fan-focus-groups/united-as-one-focus-group/
It’s the first I’ve heard of it, you have to apply to attend (and therefore they can vet you first) and they haven’t communicated the fact at all well. They haven’t even updated their Supporters’ Charter to reflect the change.
Also, they don’t commit to who will be attending (Charnley chaired the Fans’ Forum) so essentially you could turn up to find a minion from the Comms team who knows nowt handling procedings.
All very poor, honestly.
Anyone else heard of these groups at all? I’m willing to bet you haven’t, yet we’re probably among the most attentive fans in the Community on here.

Geordietom, Bill’s son and the frog all have Sacriston connections;
Each replays a record, albeit different one;
Can we infer that the frog’s uses two alts (geordietom and Bill’s son)?

From previous….. no I wasn’t suggesting that the Beeb’s impartial in its news coverage especially as it’s been leant on of late.
I’m suggesting that it’ll not be long before it’s nothing more than a mouthpiece for government.

I’m sure I read somewhere that there was a list of banned topics
Could just be my addled brain mind.
Sounds thoroughly plausible though that they would hand pick attendees and questions in order to make it easier and to look like they are doing something.

Comment #19Jail, agreed they were a bit of a sop, but at least they were something.
Not providing them is just disrespectful – a slap around the chops of both the fans and the Premier League.
The PL not pulling NUFC on it is another disrespect to all fans everywhere – essentially the PL have said that they’ve put the rules in place but don’t care if they’re followed, essentially following Government-imposed recommendations but not enforcing them.
Shocked! But not that shocked……

Hope you don’t mind me saying but you seem a bit bolshie today.
The Fan Focus Group (FFG) will be nothing more than a sounding board – I can’t see them being more than one-way opinion seekers rather than a genuine attempt to establish a rapport with fans. They’re playing lip service to the requirements.
They calling the charade an FFG – I’m surprised they didn’t call it Fan Focus Symposium!

The fact is, much as we hate Ashley, it’s difficult to find concrete, provable cases where his regime has flouted any rules or laws.
This is one such, so we should be shouting it from the rooftops. I have mentioned the fans# forums many times before, seeing as it was in context I thought I could hammer down on it.

Comment #36I just long for the day when we actually have the faintest clue what’s going on.
It’s completely ridiculous the way the club is right now.
Loads of players soon to be out of contract.
No sponsor for next season and as far as I know no kit deal either.
Will we see them playing in pants and vests or with stuff from lost property like when you forgot your PE kit at school?
