Report – Newcastle Scouted League Two Youngster Last Saturday

There is an exclusive report that Newcastle are continuing to watch Scunthorpe’s John McAtee after noticing the forward during a U23 match in late November.

That match was a 3-3 draw in the Premier League Cup in which the 20-year-old put in an impressive performance.

McAtee has since broken into the Iron’s first-team, making his first start on New Year’s Day in a 2-0 win at Oldham. He’s since made another 9 starts scoring 2 goals and providing 2 assists playing primarily as a second striker.

John McAtee– Newcastle keeping tabs on young forward

The youngster is a Shrewsbury Academy product who joined Scunthorpe as a free agent this past summer on just a one year deal. So Newcastle could bring him in this summer on a free.

The report also claims that Newcastle had scouts watch McAtee score the lone goal in a 1-0 win against Cheltenham last Saturday.

McAtee will turn 21 in July and could a player Newcastle look to bring in this summer when he will be available for nothing. He would be one for the future, but if the scouts believe he has enough potential, it could be worth bringing him in.

Andy caroll back to where he’s best. In the treatment room. Been almost 2 months since he last started.

Exactly as what most here predicted. A complete waste of signing. I predicted he will start less than 10 games in total.

    Jib,

Sir bobby was born in sacriston, but moved at a very young age and grew up in Langley park.

It’s a small world if toon22 lives in sacriston (I have many friends from there)

Bobby Robson was born into a life typical of the times – one free of wealth or privilege. He spent his boyhood in the small village of Langley Park, County Durham, as the fourth of five sons of Lilian and Philip Robson…

Robson was born in Sacriston, County Durham, England in 1933. He was the fourth of five brothers. As a young child he often went to St James’ Park with his father to watch Newcastle United F.C. When he was only 15, Robson played football in a local team of boys aged 18.

On Andy Carroll, perhaps offer him one more season, not fussed either way. Obviously far too injury prone and definitely way past his best, having said that we used to play to his strengths. The only strengths our current team has is sitting back and boring the fkin life out of us.!!!!

Check your facts with your boss. AC is on a basic wage of £20k for doing nowt and another 50 when he plays. Money down the drain! We are the only club anywhere that would sign him just to appease the fans!

I would say Ashley is ambivalent to the fans; he doesn’t respect us and you obviously don’t understand the meaning of appeasement in this context!
He bought AC as a cheap, hopeful signing knowing it would be popular with most fans. There’s no other club that would sign him!
It’s a typical cheap Ashley move that’s backfired! Not the first nor the last!
