Steve Bruce has given his press conference this morning. He provided the following updates on injuries.
SB on injuries: “Shelvey is still out unfortunately but we don’t think he’s going to be too long. Maybe another week and we’ll have four or five back. The two new boys [Danny Rose and Valentino Lazaro] will come straight back into the squad and they give me options.” pic.twitter.com/AgULKOGVJg

It looks like Dwight Gayle and Yoshinori Muto are back training but still may not be available for the trip to Arsenal on Sunday. We also saw Javier Manquillo in Wednesday’s training images do some work on the grass so he could be back to full training soon.
Both Andy Carroll and Jonjo Shelvey are still out with their injuries. It’s a concern for Big Andy as he’s been out since the Rochdale replay and still looks a ways off from coming back.
The Chronicle’s Ciaran Kelly tweeted the following about the Geordie striker.
Steve Bruce on Andy Carroll: "I'm sure he's as frustrated as we all are but unfortunately he's got to try and get fit and hopefully he will be ready in a couple of weeks or whenever it will be. We're not putting a time scale on it. It's just the way it is." #nufc

Bruce had hoped for several players to return for Sunday’s match, but it looks like it’s a week too soon for most, if not all, of them. Thankfully, our three new boys are fit and will be raring to be involved.
