This is the team we think Steve Bruce will send out for the match at Arsenal on Sunday. It has six changes from the win at Oxford, but just one change from our last Premier League match against Norwich.
Bruce will likely revert back to a back three of Fernandez, Lascelles, and Ciaran Clark. They seem to be his preferred trio right now.
At wing-back, Ritchie could keep his place ahead of Danny Rose. However, we think Valentino Lazaro will make his full debut and replace DeAndre Yedlin.
The American has been far too ineffective recently, especially in the final third. Lazaro should be able to add some quality going forward.
It’ll be harsh not to have either of the Longstaff brothers in the midfield, but Nabil Bentaleb has started the last three games, and Isaac Hayden is rarely dropped for a league match.
The front three, assuming Bruce uses this formation, picks itself. Miguel Almiron, Joelinton, and Allan Saint-Maximin should all be refreshed after the winter break, and we see no scenario where they won’t start if all make it through the next few days of training.
The bench could look something like this with minimal options in attack.
Darlow, Yedlin, Schar, Rose, S Longstaff, M Longstaff, Atsu
Steve Bruce didn’t sound too confident in his press conference that any of the injured players would be fully fit for Sunday. So we’ll assume that they all will be unavailable.
