Sky Sports Journalist Acknowledges Existence Of Second Bidder

Early on Saturday, the Chronicle reported that a second consortium interested in purchasing Newcastle United was in the early stages of due diligence.

That report said that the unnamed group was going through the books at Newcastle. However, they were quick to note that it was still business as usual as far as the club was concerned.

This would be a second ‘serious’ consortium along with the Saudi-backed group led by Amanda Staveley. The Chronicle also reported that they have approached both the club and the Saudi group but received no new information.

So the most recent information on the PIF consortium is that American entrepreneur Carla DiBello may have been the one to suggest the idea of purchasing Newcastle to the Saudis.

There had been speculation that more bidders were in talks to buy Newcastle. The news that another group is looking at the books is not too surprising if accurate.

However, that doesn’t mean they are anywhere close to reaching an agreement with Mike Ashley, which will be where the real test lies.

The fact that this second group remains unidentified could be a positive sign and show that they are remaining tight-lipped about their plans.

Pete Graves, with Sky Sports, tweeted the following on Saturday, verifying that he too is aware of a second group.

It’s all at a standstill as far as Newcastle fans go. There’s still a faint hope that something concrete will develop in the coming weeks and months.

However, it’s all far too much of an unknown to raise our expectations too high.

Good on you Tom. I have kept believing too. I have a feeling that if he goes, there will be a agreement to keep advertising SD at the ground for a couple of years or more, in some way. And perhaps a % ( more than we wud want) of revenue from shirt sales to SD?

Rotonda heights at 150. Last part re Ashleys quotes speaks volumes. Hopefully this is the time he actually does the right thing (except bring in rafa the football dinosaur) and flogs to somebody who can take the club forward. Imo this time it feels the stars are aligning to a brighter tomorrow.

Onto the match, what with the weather it may be a good shout to get the ball to St max and miggy and let them run for fun rather than lump it long. Hoping for a narrow win probably 2-1, but hoping for Positive news on takeover shortly as well. HWTL

Would Allegri be a newer version of Rafaball? Incidentally if Bruce was 6th or more behind Arteta and all these shiny younger managers, surely we can’t hang Charnley for just going for the nearest dull brit manager as we have been doing? Seems reasonable?

    OP,

Fair play on your last post.

We’ve both got caught up in the mud slinging and I’m happy to bury the hatchet and agree to differ in a sensible manner. That will make a change for us both. ๐Ÿ™‚

As it happens, I’ve just got back from a long walk along the Tweed with my rescue dog, got him when he was 9 months old five years ago.

I normally take both my dogs for a walk but our latest rescue, a 12 year old we got 6 months ago, woke up yesterday and struggled to get on his feet. Vet reckons he’s got arthritis and we need to give him shorter walks than the mad 6 year old. So that’s the wife’s job from now on.

You have a good day too and ;let’s hope it’s capped off with at least a point today.

    HWTL.

I think you need to contextualise, if that’s a word.

    Top scorers in the champo
5th highest scorers 2nd half of last season.

Before the arrival of Almiron, I really don’t think we had anyone capable of getting us up the pitch in any meaningful way, champo obviously yes, but not in the PL. Therefore there were periods when we had to grind out results in much the same way Bruce is doing now, albeit with Dubravka, a superb Rafa signing for peanuts, having to make the most saves in the PL and for once enjoying a lot of luck this season.

Rafa could never dream of having a 40M striker bought for him as he consistently had to put out entire teams costing less. My point is there was a plan B with Rafa, ie the form of Rondon and Perez once Miggy arrived. There is nothng to suggest in Bruce’s 20 year coaching CV that at 59 he will suddenly morph into a progressive attacking coach. Arteta or Poch would be great but I really think under Rafa with some decent backing like bruce has enjoyed (”I’ve never had so much money!”) then incrementally we could have got top 8 this season.

    Munster …

as long as they dont bend to his whims and he wants 5 years of free advertising . give him 5 % stake no more than that . hopefully whoever buys the club will have plenty money and they can turn the club around . AKA Keegan type football …

As for the managers, surely to move on from rafa would have been given the job to a younger foreign/British manager ie wilder, howe or even Thomas Frank from Brentford and saying here are the foundations to build upon. Now go ahead and push us along and build something for generations to come. That would have been too logical for the club to do though.

    Bills Son Is Back

On the face of it, any newcomer to The Blog would take your post (@126) at face value and form the impression that you’d been maligned by those nasty nasty anti-Ashley posters, screamers as you call them.

However, were that newcomer to look back and search out your previous posts and responses thereto, he/ she might see that your post @126 was nothing more than an attempt to refresh your reputation with a coat of paint, black and white. Bill, that post seemed plausible, suggesting you were keen to be rid of Ashley but and sorry, it doesn’t express the same sentiments as those you’ve posted of late.

If you do deplore the way Ashley’s ruined Newcastle United, stop apologising for the greedy bustard.
