Newcastle came out in their familiar 5-4-1 with Valentino Lazaro and Danny Rose as the wing-backs. The lads sat deep from the start but looked quite threatening on the break.
A lot of the early play came through Valentino Lazaro down the right who was very lively in his full debut. The lads won some early corners and created a few chances while defending well during the first 20 minutes.
The game remained open as the half progressed. Newcastle continued to look a threat with their direct runs. However, they wasted several promising opportunities in the final third.
The difference in possession was markedly better from the Norwich match. The lads looked very composed on the ball with Sean Longstaff standing out when on the ball.
The defense was also very well set-up. Arsenal struggled to break us down and were forced into launching long-range efforts.
Both sides are missing that moment of quality in the forward areas. However, Newcastle look much improved and reinvigorated even if Arsenal did edge the final ten minutes of the half.
