New Signing Is Showing Tremendous Leadership Already

Newcastle fans had to be thrilled going into the half against Arsenal with the display of new signing Valentino Lazaro. The 23-year-old was making his full debut and looked a real threat down the right flank.

The Austrian played very well as he exploited space and even got into the box early to receive a cross from Joelinton with his subsequent shot being blocked for a corner.

Lazaro also took over set-piece duties and whipped in a few decent corners. We thought Valentino looked solid defensively early in the game and noted an outstanding tackle on Pierre-Emerick Aubamayang to prevent an Arsenal break.

However, once Arsenal came out in the second half and began to dictate play, Lazaro began to struggle a bit defensively. Unfortunately, he made a couple of mistakes that ended with the ball in the back of the net.

One thing we’ve been very impressed with about Valentino is that he seems a forthright and honest person who is very happy on Tyneside. After this match, Valentino was one of a couple of Magpies to face the media.

The Chronicle have published the following comments from Valentino after the loss at Arsenal.

“I can only thank the fans for coming down here today. We’re sorry about the second half. It is not what we wanted to show.

“In the first half, you could really see our desire, and we came here to get a point or possibly win.

“We can just apologize for the second half. We’re going to work hard to bounce back next week.”

Lazaro doesn’t shirk anything in his comments. It shows a lot that a player making his full debut would come out and speak on behalf of the team after such a heavy defeat.

Newcastle will just have to take the lessons from this loss and then put it behind them. There were some positives in the first half, but the second half was just not good enough. The players know that.

Valentino added that he is looking now to next week against Crystal Palace, where he hopes the lads will redeem themselves.

“I’ve just said, after a second half like that, all you want to do is get back out there and play the next game.

“We have to show it was a mistake. In the second half, we fell apart. We normally don’t do that.

“It’ll be tough waiting a whole week. We have to work hard and bounce back next week.”

There was a lot to take from Lazaro’s first start for Newcastle United. Unfortunately, a lot of that will be overshadowed by the heavy defeat.

However, we were impressed with his display overall and look forward to seeing how he progresses over the next few weeks.

    Repost.

MagpieRanger at 73 and 75 I whole heartedly agree, however there will be those such as jib and bills son who wouldn’t have anything bad said against their hero and instead label pif and reuben brothers as tyre kickers. They absolutely have no clue what with their defence of MA and taking offence at any word which is too close to the nerve, ie squirming.

    Not great today !

Hopefully we can grab some points in next three games so we dont start looking over our shoulders.

I just hope we have enough to stay up AND someone takes over our club in the summer.

I have given up on the latest takeover news, Ash has me well battered.

Great win for the Falcons today though.

Well these 3 quality signings who were being praised in the 1st 10 minutes by the numbnuts. (Man-crush, LOL) were soon turned on 80 minutes later.

Charnley fans are not the most loyal bunch!

Transparency does not exist between the club and it’s fans and won’t until he sells up or delivers on his own offer to the various fans groups to view the books. As a result those criticising him and those who defend him do not have many if any facts to go on, and as such opinions differ.

One point though for those who defend him. If he is as genuine and sincere as you appear to believe, then say this takeover amounts to nothing, would you change your tone on here towards him? He says he is a willing seller, prepared to sell to somebody who can take the club forward, and that he should be no where near owning a football club (MA’s own words)

Thanks for the input droppy – as your spec is words with less than three syllables I can understand why you thought you felt qualified to wade in, however you should sit this one out. Really you should your brain will melt.

Mag P: ignorance might fit you but it’s not bliss nor is it an excuse. And it’s not a hard man routine son just saying how much offense words like that give, which were top dollar when your dad peed his dungarees roaring with laughter at Love Thy Neighbour but not so much as of 20 years ago. For someone who spent not a little time being a world class flaming minority victim you show little class but loads of hypocrisy by pleading the “uhh well I didn’t know what it meant” case.

And I saw your glorious exchange with Ancient where you decided the insults came before the reason. Great show lad, great show. What a tough day you’re having. All of your own making though.

To defend Ashley as much as Bill and Jib goes way beyond arse kissing. To think there are actual Newcastle fans that share the same views boggles the mind. I have NEVER met anyone who is so vocal in defending the FCB. Bare in mind, I’ve been to literal hundreds of NUFC games home and away, worked amongst and communicated with hundreds Newcastle fans and lived in the city of Newcastle my whole life. Yet Jib will want you to believe that we are in the minority with our views towards Ashley and that he is a good owner. Make your own mind up fellas.

Its always a good idea not to be abusive or use words that can be seen in another context
I have on occasion used such words, without thinking. Its best to apologize and never use again
Not always when it comes to Jabba but you cant call him things offensive to posters who arnt meant as the target

It seesm the club cant see the mess were in, or they do and want the PR to smooth it over
Next season is going to be horrible, on a scale not seen in my lifetime

I in no way am looking forward to it or want this to happen
But unless its used to show people how the PR are defending the guy it will be wasted

    He really must go

Have to give a bit of leeway to the new boys, how can they be shoehorned into a team they don’t know and go up against arsenal at their home and not even match fit? Something had to give.

Hopefully we can get them into the mould quickly and get back to the safe, desperately dire backs to the wall defensive trudge that has racked up sufficient points so far. 😐

Totally agree Toon22 next season is going to be the start of a horrific decline, Sunderland-esque. We 100% deserve it as a club, you can’t run a club as badly as how ours is and get away with it season after season. Relegation is inevitable. Unfortunately it’s the fans who will suffer. Mike Ashley despises Newcastle United fans and he will teach us a lesson for ever calling him nasty names.

Sorry, I’m pretty sure I ‘played the victim’ when I was still practically a child and was being accused of all sorts. It’s a bit different pal.

In regards to the word ‘mong’, I was being honest when I said I don’t know what it truly means, I don’t really care if you believe me or not either, someone who gets offended that easily will obviously see what they want to.

It was a mistake, I shouldn’t have said it, I do have a conscience, especially after hearing its origin from Mr Tuff, so thanks for that my guy.

It was a word in the heat of the moment, we all do it.

Christ you’d think id committed a felony with the way Im having to defend myself, over a word, when you look around at the real world and see more important catastrophe’s you’d think this would pale in comparison.

Like Lazaro a lot, and hope he along with Manquillo will provide what’s needed at right back, right wing back, this term and next. But he really will need to do better than he managed defensively for their first two goals. That’ll have worried Steve Bruce.

Yep he will leave scorched earth , utter desolation
Yes he hates us but its more than that.
Its his ego, he has utterly failed
He needs to show hes taken everything, to big himself up

As hes shown with us he is useless at running a business
Hes not a clue how to build, he mugs people over and bullies his way through things

His success has been built on mugging over JD, is ironic they are now wiping the floor with him

An interesting run of games against everyone around us which will be make or break. Theory is we should get a half decent return of points even if not playing well so I doubt relegation is on the cards at this point. However if things do go awry, we are only wins above Brighton then it’s an out an out death match for relegation places so we don’t need to drop into that. 🙁

Thats the thing, literally nobody will want the job
    Its utter poison
The guy we have got was 6th choice at best
The current situation is far , far worse now then a year ago
In my opinion the guy is literally un-sackable, the only chance is if he leaves
You would hope someone like Ginola would have a crack at it, but thats the best we can hope for
