Miles Starforth with the Shields Gazette is reporting that Newcastle have agreed on new deals with both Matt Ritchie and Jonjo Shelvey. Both players are on current contracts that expire in 2021.

However, he provides no additional details on either agreement instead just making a single statement on the breakthrough.
There was a report in mid-January that talks with Ritchie and Shelvey had made significant progress so there may be an announcement soon by Newcastle.
We would like to see both players extended although they both have question marks over their futures. Jonjo Shelvey is currently out injured and has missed quite a few games over the past two years with various problems.
Matt Ritchie turned 30 years old in September, so he’ll likely not have gotten much beyond a two-year extension. He’s a team leader and full of passion on the pitch, though not the explosive force down the flank that Jetro Willems was before his injury.
The contract situation at Newcastle has reared its head of late with Steve Bruce’s recent declaration that there has been no progress with securing Matty Longstaff beyond this year.
He also spoke about ‘having conversations’ on a couple of other players who are out in contract this summer in Federico Fernandez and Javier Manquillo.
Hopefully, the news on Jonjo Shelvey and Matt Ritchie is accurate, and the club are finally getting some of these contracts sorted out before the summer.
