Rolando Aarons made his fourth consecutive start for Motherwell this evening in the fifth round replay of the Scottish Cup against St Mirren. Rolando scored his first goal for Motherwell as they came from 4-1 down to even the score at 4-4.
Another goal back!

It remained 4-4 after extra time. Rolando stepped up and converted his penalty in the shoot-out. However, it was not to be as Motherwell are knocked out of the cup on penalties 3-2.

Your seemingly endless criticism of Rafa was being posted at a bad time. Your views were probably unpopular because Rafa was fighting a losing battle against Ashley and for the fans. In effect, your criticism of Rafa was perceived as supporting Ashley and thus went down like a lead balloon.
Surely that must have occured to you that the amount of criticism and your timing was ill-judged. It earned you a pro-Ashley reputation in much the same way Catchy’s opinions are greeted with scorn.

Comment #14Can’t you idiots put the RAFA debate to bed
You only strengthen my feelings on you moronic bloggers
Other fans would just leave it but you lot are pathetic little kids
Look RAFA was a top class manager defensive minded but his tactics in the main worked he had a brain
BRUCE is a mediocre manager who is ultra defensive and his tactics are based on half a brain just like most of you lot on here especially that Welsh idiot
There is no takeover ASH will be here until he pegs it cabbage head will just beat relegation this season by the skin of his teeth with luck and because the epl this season is the poorest its been for a decade
Next season same again fight relegation
Set a target of 40 points and that’s it
That’s all it will ever be but cabbage will run out of luck and NUFC will like you awful home fans will be back in the championship not where the club belongs but you gutless MUGS

Not sure if I’ve mentioned this before but there’s a great app called duo lingo, with a little green owl as it’s icon. It’s not as good as it was as I think they now make it a bit of a pain trying to get you to pay for add removal. Worth a look though, it’s a fun app and great achievement when you finally get the golden owl.

Comment #19Like most idiots before him Munster Mag has painted himself in to a corner with his defence of Bruce, to come out and criticise him would leave him wide open to a massive “I told you so, wtf did you think would happen when you replaced a UEFA elite manager with a championship plodder” He’s now claiming his criticism was mild, I suppose if you convince yourself enough you probably start believing it. And please give over with the travelled miles to meet him. You went for a day out to watch the lads train and get a few autographs, you even turned that in to a slight with your little hands comment. The biggest issue for me is your outright hypocrisy. I proved this beyond doubt when two pretty much identical 0-0 draws were played out against the bottom clubs, you were absolutely scathing in your attack against the former manager yet gave an “ooh err that wasn’t very good re a little bit worried about relegation”. We have signed a complete joke second rate manager who was the best we could get under Ashley’s ridiculous model and you don’t want to admit it because it makes your hounding of our former manager all the more petty and foolish.

I love duolingo! Since I’m taking an actual class now, I don’t get on there quite so much anymore, but I really need to find some time for it again. It’s great for vocab. I don’t think you can access them on your mobile, but on my laptop there’s a section for short stories you can listen to and answer questions about them. The stories are pretty clever.
I even dabbled in German and Korean on duolingo. The German was not bad, but I dropped it to focus on Spanish. The Korean set-up on duolingo was horrible, imo. I took two courses of Korean at our community college, so I knew a good bit about the language, but still really struggled getting through those lessons on duo.
Did you know you can study Klingon and High Valyrian on duolingo?! I find that very amusing. 😀

What is even more remarkable is that are about 100 people in the world who actually speak Klingon fluently. I remember once sitting behind some young back packers in Koh Samuii and despite straining to detect what language it was I simply couldn’t pick it up. It wasn’t Klingon on if that’s what you were expecting me to say 😀 but they were Swiss and it was a language spoken by a tiny, like minute fraction of the population, didn’t sound like anything I’d ever heard before

Comment #22We keep hearing talk of these young progressive managers who apparently work to the constraints imposed by their respective hierarchy’s. I think what people fail to understand is that no matter how talented you are with modern ideas. If the people above you, who are by and large clueless about football and they are making the decisions for you how can you get the team playing how you would like them to. Willems, a player linked for ages was available but we had to play Ritchie as RWB leaving the attack worse off. Southampton could afford Danny Ings we had to make do with Joselu. It doesn’t matter who they bring in. While Lee Churnley and Mike Ashley are in effect the managers of the club this is what we’ll have to put up with.

Comment #24This notion of back four won’t work with our lineup is utter nonsense. Remember Dummett on the left side of back four completely neutralizing Mo Sala. Why can’t that work now?
What’s not working is not the limited skill set of our players IMO. What’s tying us down is the lack of tactical wherewithal of our coaching staff.

Comment #25Idk if anyone saw the article of Bruce criticizing Joel. It could be taken out of context but what a freaking dunce this guy is. To do that to your young big money striker who YOU Bruce are playing out of position and giving no support is simply idiotic. He has to get in the box more fair, but to criticize him in the media is unforgivable given the way you are deploying the team and tactics. Even when he is in the box it’s him vs 4. Every other team gets 2-4 people in the box and youre content with 1 player making a heroic effort to get up field and cross to 1 player amongst 4. It’s ludicrous and shows how out of touch Bruce is. Get a clue. The British media is disgusting how it plays up Bruce because he’s a “good bloke”. When he’s got more talent than he ever has and still plays like he’s managing a league 1 team in the prem. Heck he still employs theses tactics against league 1 teams like we’re bottom half of league 1. Nothing’s changing until a more modern manager comes in.

Comment #32I think I’ve made it abundantly clear I don’t like Steve Bruce and I don’t want him anywhere near the club. But it’s no good just blaming our predicament on him. He certainty doesn’t deserve any sympathy but we were crying out for a striker and they get him an exciting winger who’s hardly played and expect him to play as a defender. Every fan needs to realise no matter which guy they place in the hot seat we will never be any good as the policy doesn’t allow it. We could have bettered the team with a big money striker if they really did have 60M to spend. But what’s the point in their eyes, we’ve done enough already, what needs improving. I just hope we don’t witness the second half season collapses we did in the past when they thought that the job was done so let’s just hang up our boots. Rose and Bentaleb’s previous hardly suggest they’d be up for a fight if the chips were down.

Comment #33Some great stats here that shows just what the ashLIE years have done to a once proud Football Club:-
.
https://twitter.com/MaintainSjp/status/1229875880928972801
I’ve got my calculator out based on these stats…
Results in the pre-MA in the PL era (“PRE”) vs the MA era (“MA”)
Win %
PRE: 42.88%
MA: 30.34%
Goals per game:
PRE: 1.49
MA: 1.16
Points per game:
PRE: 1.55
MA: 1.16
#NUFC were statistically the 5th best team in PL pre MA.
Also
.
Until ashLIE bought wor club we had a goal difference of +150!
Second’s picture date is – 07.04.2007
13 years without ambitions, pride or any future
https://twitter.com/white_vision/status/1229812339786080256
.
.
So in 13 years we’ve dropped in every possible way, even to the point that our +150 goal difference (pre), is now -2. So we’ve basically had a goal difference in the 11 years of us being in the Prem of -14 each season!
That’s how bad it’s been.

What predicament some might say. We’re 13th and in the fifth round of the cup. However when you look at it properly, the performances are getting worse each game and do we need to mention how we’ve managed to get so far in the cup. We had a perfect opportunity to address the goal scoring problem in the last window which Bruce publically said isn’t a problem. So far he’s had the luxury of picking mostly Rafa’s players and even then not having much choice due to the horrendous injuries that have resurfaced since his arrival so the team has pretty much picked itself. He now has a lot of new players who aren’t well drilled in to a system he has decided to prolong and in a mish mash of different positions. He now has the headache of working out how best to use them all. So due to injury and the collective nous of Nickson and Churnley we are going to see more of a Brucie team in the second half of this season. Let’s see how it pans out.
