Report – Newcastle Close To Appointing New U23 Head Coach

The Daily Mail’s Craig Hope is reporting that Newcastle may be getting close to finally replacing Neil Redfearn as the U23s head coach. Redfearn resigned in early November after a dispute with his assistant Liam Bramley.

Ben Dawson, the Head of Academy, has overseen the U23 side in the interim.

Craig Hope has tweeted the following about a possible coach being appointed soon. The news has also been reported by TWTD.

Chris Hogg is a former Hibernian defender who came from the Ipswich Academy. He was born in Middlesbrough and reached the U19 level for England internationally.

Hogg is currently the co-manager of the Ipswich U23 side, along with Gerard Nash. He has been a member of the Academy coaching staff since he retired from playing in 2013.

He was briefly called up to assist with coaching the first-team when Mick McCarthy left as manager in April of 2018.

“I think he should have got us to 7th / 8th rather than mid table.”

With mostly average players, Munster? Deluded.

If Rafa had the luck we’ve had this year we’d be watching CL football now.

    On Willems.

I like him but the injury makes you wonder.

I’d try for a cut price deal, I’m not Ashley before anyone starts

Last season away to Arsenal – Rafa said:

“These kind of games are very similar – they are close as you miss your chances in terms of passes in the final third, then you have to defend against a team that has pace and quality.

“Then you have to do the right things in defence, which we did for a while but the threat we had in the first half we didn’t have the in the second half.

You still haven’t answered my questions of Monday morning (and reposts). You, like Munster tried to sidestep it by posting a comment on the disappointing performance on Sunday – not the why, the underlying cause of the state of the club and its decline over the last 13 years. Silence from Bill’s son too.

I must say I’m disappointed that you, Munster and Bill’s son – the Trinity -seem unable or unwilling to answer my questions:

Why is the club in such a state, declined to the point if fighting for Prem survival year after year?

Or to put it another way, why are the likes of Leicester and Wolves streets ahead of Newcastle United, on and off the field?

Come on you three, be brave and give us an answer – or are you waiting for Bishop to draft it for you!

Let’s stay positive, there’s a real chance of big money for Jabba from next seasons transfer budget

    😉

Jib, agreed although I think arsenal are worse than last year and we now have better players ( other than Linton ) , the worrying part was the complete collapse 2nd half and Bruce’s seemingly random substitutions , Hayden as WB??
It could all turn very worrying with a defeat this weekend depending on who else wins … We could easily be pulled into relegation battle if 6 points clear suddenly turns into 3

I’m probably jumping in here half way through a conversation but last season we lost that particular game by two

last season we conceded 3 or more in 4 games:

    Manchester United (a) 2-3
    West Ham United (h) 0-3
    Liverpool (a) 0-4
    Liverpool (h) 2-3

this season we’ve conceded 3 or more in 6 games with 12 still to play:

    Norwich City (a) 1-3
    Liverpool (a) 1-3
    Leicester City (a) 0-5
    Manchester United (a) 1-4
    Leicester City (h) 0-3
    Arsenal (a) 0-4
