Report – Newcastle To Scout Norwegian Striker In Turkey

There is a report from Turkish outlet Fotospor that Newcastle will scout Trabzonspor striker Alexander Sorloth this weekend. The Norwegian international is on a year-long loan from Crystal Palace.

Trabzonspor is expected to trigger the 24-year-old’s purchase clause. It’s reportedly a €6m obligation to buy if he plays in 50% of the team’s matches. He’s already scored an impressive 22 goals in all competitions for the Turkish club.

Sorloth joined Crystal Palace two Januaries ago from the Danish club Midtjylland for £9m. He failed to have an impact at Selhurst Park, scoring just one goal in his 20 appearances, though only 4 were starts with two of those on the left-wing.

Sorloth rose through the Rosenborg Academy but made just 10 first-team appearances before moving to Groningen in the Eredivisie in 2016 for a small fee. He scored just 6 goals in his 18 months in the Netherlands before moving to Denmark.

It was at Midtjylland that he found his first rich vein of form, scoring 15 goals with 9 assists in his only season before securing his lucrative move to Crystal Palace.

He’s been on loan twice since joining the Eagles spending the latter half of last season with Gent in Belgium. Crystal Palace reportedly tried to recall Sorloth from his loan recently, however the terms of the deal allowed Trabzonspor to prevent that.

Monaco and Brighton will also be sending scouts to watch Sorloth this weekend.

If you answered my questions about what’s good with the club, I must’ve missed it. Perhaps you’ll repost it?

Jib and Bill’s son, your fellow Ashley cheerleaders haven’t answered either. Why don’t you talk to Jib and come up with a joint answer?

If you three could tell us all what good things Ashley’s done to enable the likes of Wolves, Leicester, Sheffield United outperform us, folk might take your views seriously.

So we only need to lose 2-0 an we get a full house.

That would give us consistency, that’s a positive right?

Simon Jordan and Alex Bruce have said it’s all good.

    Surely that’s good enough.

How tedious this bun-fight between bloggers is? But, hey-ho, it’s a blog of opinions. Pity it can’t be more about the football.

We haven’t played well for at least 10 matches, but have secured points through luck and some good defending.
The first half on Sunday was better. The loanees need games to become match fit.
At moment, the outlook is not good. I think we will scrape by, but it’s not inspiring. I think we can all agree a change of ownership could change the mood.

It won’t be long until I’ve seen more potential Takeovers at Nufc than managers and I’m in my forties.

Says he was valued at £31m when we bought him, now worth £27m.

How the funk did we pay so much, he’s worth two thirds of what we paid and a few would say less.

If you add up the other interested parties for every takeover it’s got to be more than the managers you’ve seen.

Interesting that Joe is now only over valued by about £20m

In 6 months his value has dropped 4 million.

By the end of his contract he’ll be worth minus £17m

Sports Direct FC stinks to high heaven,it’s a cash cow for a big fat parasite and it doesn’t exist as a sporting enterprise that tries to be the best it can be.The only thing that keeps it going is the foolishness of the sheep that go to St James Park and watch the grass grow through abject stupidity. You can’t blame the parasite any more because anybody with a brain cell would exploit this situation and he does.

Carltoon I agree re worrying over a late collapse. Ron, the writer was slagging off mourinho. If we had mourinho wud you slag him off? If it was deserved I hope so. Because nobody said Jack against rafa when he was serving up plenty of dull football etc.

You went over the top with your FAIR AND BALANCED criticism of Rafa.

Due to people disagreeing with you it became your reason to visit the blog.

Not to discuss the football in any shape or form unless it was to criticise Rafa.

You reviled Rafa and anyone who disagreed.

You’ve barely criticised Bruce, infact at times you’ve tried to blow smoke up his arse on here.

It’s no wonder as many think you’re a wum.

It’s not nice for the lad but I cant see how he can become the no 9 we need.

Some have said we are not playing to his strengths, or we dont have the players to compliment Big Joe…..Which in itself raises the bigger question – who at the club decided he should be bought for ‘£40’ million ?

The price tag is a mill stone round the lads neck.

He was linked before Rafa left but he felt he was way over valued.

He’s never been an out and out striker so it’s never going to work for him as it is.

So we’re now slagging off a manager we have never had and unlikely to ever have , an ex manager of 8 months ago but we’re meant to back Bruce who basically has a new team and spent over 80 million plus 3 loan players (4 with Willem) who are worth around 50/60 million …how bizarre

If we got anyone within 20 yards of him he’d look a different player.

Most of his touches are in or around the centre circle, we’re far too deep most of the time.

I’d try 5 in midfield, Almiron in the middle of the 3 with Lazzaro on the right ASM on the left.

    Yedlin Lejuine Lascelles Rose
    Lazzaro Hayden Almiron Bentilib ASM

I’d try that out even though I think we’d still struggle with a back 4.

Have Almiron bridging the gap between midfield and Joe, getting past joe and having ASM and Lazzaro flying up the wings.

At free kicks or corners I still don’t understand why Joe is on the half way line, I’d have ASM or Almiron up there and Joe defending.

Let the opo worry about a flat out race from a ball over the top.

I don’t think the writer was blaming new boy Mourinho in this case – although he’s no fan. His anger was probably directed at the board.

Almiron should definitely be on the half way line for corners etc, it’s a no brainer.

The opo would leave atleast 3 players with him, very few in the league can keep up with him.

A clearance into one of the channels he’d get the ball, get a throw in, a corner, a penalty or a shot on target around 75% of the time from a simple ball.

With Joe up there we see barely any of that.

That kind of thing requires the coach to see it.

Just like second half on Sunday, Ceballos dropped 10 yards deeper and had all the space in the world and we did nothing to counter it at all.

I love Almiron, he’s like a dog in the park with a ball.

Never gets tired, always happy, wants to run.

    Set him free Bruce.

Dubs catches it, over the top to the happy dawg, back o the net.
