Javier Manquillo has been out of action for Newcastle since suffering a hamstring injury against Leicester City on New Years Day. Manquillo was the second of four Magpies to be forced off in the 3-0 defeat with Jetro Willems, Jonjo Shelvey, and Fabian Schar, all getting injured.
Manquillo is the only one of those four who is yet to return though both Jetro Willems and Jonjo Shelvey have suffered additional injuries since the match.
We saw last week that the 25-year-old was doing individual work on the training pitch, so he’s slowly edging his way back to fitness.
Steve Bruce has spoken to BBC Newcastle about the right-back, and it looks like he could be back for the Burnley match at St James Park in a couple of weeks.
“He got a bad, bad injury… an awful tear of his hamstring.”
“He’s out on the grass… let's hope (he’s fit again in) a week to ten days.”

Manquillo had been outstanding since coming back into the side in the 2-2 draw against Manchester City. He started the next five games before being rested for the 2-1 loss to Everton to end the year.
He returned for the Leicester City match but suffered his hamstring injury just before half-time, and only minutes after Willems went off injured.
Getting Javier back will be a boost to this team. He was outstanding defensively at the wing-back position and also did well going forward.
His return could allow Valentino Lazaro to push forward into a more natural winger role. That would be a combination we would like to see down the right flank.
