Report – Offer For January Target Is Still On The Table

There was a report a couple of days ago about how Lille midfielder Boubakary Soumare had been frozen out at his club after refusing to move to Newcastle in January.

It seems that the 20-year-old’s situation may now be slightly improved after holding a meeting with the club’s hierarchy. Yesterday, Soumare released the following statement on the club’s website, according to Sport Witness:

“We needed to talk to each other to resolve a situation concerning the management and development of my career.

“Now it’s settled. We need to move forward. We need to take three points on Saturday to reach our podium ambitions. That’s all I’m interested in.

“I’m really very happy to be at the LOSC. There’s an extraordinary project here for the young players!

“It’s also a balance with more experienced players who allow us to develop on a daily basis.

“I hope we end up on the podium, that we can get back to the C1 for our fans. I’m confident in the club’s project and that of its president, Gerard Lopez.

“My agents and I are working hand in hand and in good understanding with the club.”

Sport Witness have followed up with an intriguing claim this morning. They cite reports from France that Newcastle are still working on a plan to tempt the midfielder to Newcastle this summer.

The report says that Newcastle’s offer, which was accepted by Lille last month, is still on the table. They are also still in contact with representatives of the French U21 international for a summer move.

Apparently, Newcastle are offering Soumare, who turns 21 in a week, double his current wages and guaranteed playing time. We don’t doubt that Newcastle would offer to significantly increase the player’s wages, but promising that he’ll start a certain amount of games seems a dodgy proposition.

News that Newcastle are still going after Soumare doesn’t fit with local reports that the club have moved on from the midfielder after being rebuffed in January.

We’re not sure which report is the most accurate. However, it seems very likely that if the player changed his mind and wanted to join this summer, Newcastle wouldn’t hesitate to bring him in.

What Will Be The Result At Crystal Palace On Saturday?

  • Loss (39%, 634 )

    The buses are really revving….

IrishRob’s being very unfair on Bruce. His first few games presented him with a set of players that were so well drilled, he couldn’t get them to play the way he wanted them to.

He seems to have undrilled them now and they’re presumably playing the way he wants them to….. but now they’re hemorrhaging goals.

What’s he expected to do, blame Rafa?

We might be between transfer windows yet we still had a move to announce earlier…

Barcelona completed the controversial emergency signing of Danish striker Martin Braithwaite from Leganes for 18m euros (£15m).
    All things are possible then.
Surely we have an Emergency with injuries and strikers that don’t strike.
Charnley are you on the case ?

La Liga gave Barca permission to make a signing outside the transfer window after Ousmane Dembele was ruled out for six months with an injury. La Liga rules allow clubs to apply to make new signings if a player is ruled out for more than five months. Braithwaite, 28, was playing in the Championship for Middlesbrough at the start of last season but has now signed a contract with Barca until the end of June 2024, with a buy-out clause of 300m euros (£251m)… nope, that is not a typo!

Wow. Nugget Degrees being handed out now are they?

So Rondon is only chirping up and making nuisance inferences his season under Rafa was great etc because his career has stopped in its tracks due to the suspension of the Chinese league?

So you reckon they have stopped paying his contracted wages because they cleverly inserted a Coronavirus Indemnity Clause in there? You reckon they won’t stump up on his “Last Payday”?

Wow. The utter tripe that pumps up out of the ground here. This one even stopped me ridiculing Jibs assertion that Ashley is beautifying NUFC for sale ha ha that took some doing!

Pretty much anyone we are considering bringing in is guaranteed first team football at the minute. The trick is staying on the conveyor belt.

In answer to your so far ignored question.

The clubs you mention all have people who know football making decisions. They also have the benefit of revenue streams that give them the best possible return. Finally, they all strive to be better year on year.

We have an owner who doesn’t care and his little band of sycophants.

No Lesh I’m really not. I supported Bruce for a long time and still do to an extent because at the end of the day hes our manager. But this is a far far better team than this. They just dont know how to play because bruce doesnt do anything for them.

People love playing under a manager like Bruce because it means they have more freedom and less responsibility. That’s the only reason ppl like playing under him. Less responsibility and less pressure.

But the more they play the more I realise it’s the same plan since day one, nothing changes because he just doesnt know how to. He doesnt know how to teach them anything.

I much preferred it when you called him nipple head, without a doubt the funniest childish insult I’ve heard in thirteen years of reading this blog and suited him perfectly. Most definitely the biggest nipple head on the blog.

I don’t think the levels of research and analysis of Bruce’s team is quite on par with Benitezs either. I think the only video library at hand for the players atm is an old VHS. Of “Footloose” and Charnleys “Chuggington” collection.

Looking ahead to the weekend, I would love to see a run of games where we play 4-2-3-1. I know it’s not going to happen but it would be nice to see what the team does with another body in attack.

Dubravka; Yedlin, Lascelles, Lejeune, Rose; Hayden, Bentaleb; Lazaro, Saint, Almiron; Joelinton.

On paper it looks half decent. Maybe Ritchie for Rose as he looked way off the pace but there’s pace in that side.

Would you give Bentaleb another go straight away. That was my team earlier but with Shelvey instead, so many injuries now I can’t keep up with who’s out of favour because they won’t sign a new deal or is injured. I also included Rondon because it had completely slipped my mind that a couple of knuckle heads had decided not to keep him here in the summer.

Coming from an nufc supporter and you can bring up the mackem tag all you like it just doesn’t wash but makes you feel better
We are a small club with huge support in newcastle and surrounding north east areas
A sprinkling of support in many countries but that’s it
A great history but the last 50 odd years nothing to write home about
We have had top class players but only one great chance of winning the title and for those last 10 games KK did blow it and you know it
Some distasteful owners no more so than the moron in charge at the moment
Great managers who have failed miserably
the present one who is and will be proved to be one of the worst we have ever had
The most deluded fickle embarrassing fans in world football bar none
Its also never been a hotbed of talent or has the most loyal fans that’s a blatent lie that’s where the delusion rears its ugly head
Again it’s the biggest club in the north east but let’s be truthful it has nothing to beat
Never been on a par with man u liverpool and never will be there two are on a different planet
Man c Chelsea spurs arsenal yes we can reach their heights but only with very deep pockets but our geographic location is a massive minus
    It always has been
Man city through the decades were good bad indifferent but never anything special it’s only money that has them where they are today
    Same with Chelsea
Even with a Saudi owner who would splash the cash nufc would probably still fail that’s how I see it
    The truth hurts

However we have mostly always had hope … Even under Ashley years we’ve had it , however since Rafa was allowed to leave and Bruce brought in it’s evaporated , all the fakeovers / the silence from nufc/ the selling off of land / the club infrastructure more and more delapidated / the giving away of tickets. It’s led us to a point of almost no return for many , it seems the club is slowly strangling itself as without the big crowds and vocal support we’re just another Stoke City (also once deemed a hotbed of football )

I agree with a little portion of that.

We blew the title, and we haven’t won anything whilst I’ve been alive.

But the rest just reads like we should just throw the towel and give up caring.

Sorry but for many that’s never going to happen, I stopped going as I couldn’t stand the thought of paying a regime intent on cheapening and weakening the club, but I always have to have some kind of way of following the match, whether it’s Stream, TV radio or even bloody carrier pigeon. The potential in the club is huge, City, Man U and Liverpool May well be out of reach but if we never get a chance to try we will never know.

Not a single mention of care homes or pensioners, some facts in there too.

Secondly it ends with the same Ash in carver in bollix

We were a much bigger club than Lpool until the sixties. Each club has it’s own defining moments. Lpool got lucky that three blokes got together and each one didn’t mind being the understudy to the other and Beatle mania came along, with what must have been very ambitious owners. If SBR had have followed KK our recent history might be very different.

how many goals would rondon get under bruce. tens his best ever and we create half as many chances. youd have to assume under bruces double running training hed be injured a bit more especially as hes older. id say 5 goals if he was here. lack of chances would lead to a poor goal record, lack of practice shooting in games, increased pressure on each shot and ultimately loss of confidence.
btw – chinese league has a large winter break if i remember correctly so hes probably in colombia now. sounds like his family hate it in dalian and its no surprise. the language is very hard to pick up.
