Who Was Newcastle’s Best Player At Crystal Palace?

Steve Bruce did not get the team selection right whatsoever this afternoon. The midfield pairing of Sean Longstaff and Nabil Bentaleb was non-existent and Bruce failed to address the situation until late in the game.

He eventually moved Fabian Schar further forward but both Longstaff and Bentaleb were overrun today. We’re not sure if Bruce feels pressure to start the loan lads but all three started today and both Bentaleb and Danny Rose did not play very well.

We’d like to see both Matt Ritchie and Isaac Hayden back in the team next week against Burnley. Unfortunately, Valentino Lazaro will miss that match after receiving a straight red card for taking Wilfried Zaha down from behind when he was through on goal.

There is just one threat in this team and that is Allan Saint-Maximin. The Frenchman was the only one showing urgency to level the score. Joelinton had another Joelinton-like performance in which he worked hard but offered nothing in front of goal.

It is just so frustrating watching this team gift possession back to the opposition time and time again. We are second to every loose ball and are completely bereft of ideas when we manage to keep it.

Once again, it’s Martin Dubravka who kept this game from being another lopsided defeat. Newcastle would easily be in the bottom three without him.

We have dropped to 14th but the three teams now below us failed to win. However, the bottom three have yet to play. This club is now in a fight for survival with little to indicate that any improvement is on the horizon.

Who Was Newcastle's Best Player At Crystal Palace?

  • Martin Dubravka (79%, 1,121 )
  • A. Saint-Maximin (9%, 133 )
  • Valentino Lazaro (3%, 45 )
  • Joelinton (2%, 30 )
  • Dwight Gayle (1%, 19 )
  • Fabian Schar (1%, 15 )
  • Miguel Almiron (1%, 13 )
  • Sean Longstaff (1%, 10 )
  • Federico Fernandez (1%, 9 )
  • Matt Ritchie (1%, 9 )
  • Nabil Bentaleb (0%, 6 )
  • Danny Rose (0%, 5 )
  • Jamaal Lascelles (0%, 4 )

It’ll be interesting to see how Bruce’s media pals try to shine this one up. Surely for the sake of their own credibility they must start to level a bit of criticism and the tactics sooner or later.

“Great guy…tough job, 31 points, better than Rafa…” all that nonsense will probably suffice though.

Need to make it so uncomfortable for Bruce now that he has no other choice but to walk. A big push to get him out needs to happen. I would put him alongside Carver And Kinnear as our worst manager.

Once Bruce is being criticised by the less dim bloggers , instead of the usual whining know nowts , you know there are problems.

Munster – yea the logical and fair thing to do, I agree but he has shown that he has no more cards now.

Jane – Lazaro will turn out to be one of the best, just watch.

No matter what formation or players go out there while this clown is in charge we have no chance. I was all for giving him a chance but lost patience after about 12 games.

The tide has well and truly turned on Bruce now let’s hope this starts a major drive to get rid.

We are all fully aware that Ashley is the underlying reason for the demise of our club. However there are less talented squads currently performing better in the PL than ours is under Steve Bruce.

Any of the more modern progressive type managers would get a far better tune out of our squad than this outdated makeshift apology for a head coach.

For those of us that haven’t been taken in by us scraping a few results by hook or by crook, definitely not by being an organised outfit, this latest trend of losing matches always looked inevitable , more so now that Bruce has more options at his disposal to complicate things even further. He is just not the man for the job and never was.

Last time we looked ready for the drop, Rafa rode into town – too late to stop it because they pi$$ed about instead of bladdering McLaren.

Might it be a good time for Mikey boy to pick up the phone, call Allardyce and offer him whatever he wants, before it really is too late?

There’s one thing for sure, if we go down and they stick with Bruce, we’ll be down there for a year or two.

Message to Ashley – cut out the greed and sell the club, without any preconditions and before it’s too late.

If Lazaro was just a red for professional foul it’s a 1 match ban.

The 3 loan signings are getting slaughtered already because we haven’t suddenly become world beaters.

We have an owner who revels in dragging the club backwards, a coach who is seemingly incapable of coaching in any way. Sit back with everyone in your own half and then hump it forward and hope that Maxi and Miggy are quick enough to get a set piece or goal out of nothing. If a system doesn’t work you change it, you don’t try it again another 25 times.

Can’t think of a single striker anywhere who would get double figures playing the way we do.

We need somebody in to save the club from relegation- it’s not the time to bring a youngun in without PL experience

They p1ss around with it at the back for a couple of minutes then give it to Dubs who bangs it up the pitch even when we are losing. FFS tactics?

Droppy – ask Albert Einstein – he taught everyone that years ago, Bruce has not heard about it.

How long is the suspension for a straight red card?
If it’s a straight red (depending on severity) it will normally be 1 or 2 games. Violent conduct or dissent will be either 3 or 4 (possibly even more if the governing body of the sport deems it be really serious). If a player does happen to receive a red card, the suspension will carry across all competitions

Rose is useless. Never rated him. Doesn’t get forward enough. Didn’t even know he was playing today.

The Chinese football season isn’t going anywhere soon because of the Coronavirus and in fact the Country will probably be shut until 2021. Just put Bruce on gardening leave and borrow back Rafa and Rondon.
