Report – Premier League Club Identify Magpie As Potential Replacement For £70m-Rated Winger

Once again on Saturday, Allan Saint-Maximin tried desperately to create a moment of magic to get the stagnant Newcastle attack going. The Frenchman was one of only a few Magpies to show any urgency going forward in the second half.

While not much worked in the end for the 22-year-old, the impetus to get forward and try to get something to happen was at least endearing to some.

It’ll come as little surprise that there are now reports circulating of outside interest in Newcastle’s electric winger. The Daily Mail are claiming that Wolves have Allan Saint-Maximin listed as a potential replacement for Adama Traore.

There is expected to be a bidding war for the 24-year-old, who Wolves value at around £70m, with both Real Madrid and Barcelona reported to be interested.

If one of La Liga’s giants poach the Spanish winger this summer, Newcastle could have to fend off interest from Wolves in our star player.

Saint-Maximin, by all accounts, seems to love it at Newcastle. However, he has to be frustrated with the style of play currently on display at Newcastle.

Allan did sign a six-year deal when he joined this past summer for £16m from Nice. So Wolves would have to stump up quite a fee to prise him away just a year later.

We just don’t even want to think about losing Saint-Maximin after only one year. Hopefully, this team can find some answers in the final third and end this season on some sort of high. If they do, it’ll likely come through the exploits of our French winger.

Who Was Newcastle's Best Player At Crystal Palace?

  • Martin Dubravka (79%, 1,121 )
  • A. Saint-Maximin (9%, 133 )
  • Valentino Lazaro (3%, 45 )
  • Joelinton (2%, 30 )
  • Dwight Gayle (1%, 19 )
  • Fabian Schar (1%, 15 )
  • Miguel Almiron (1%, 13 )
  • Sean Longstaff (1%, 10 )
  • Federico Fernandez (1%, 9 )
  • Matt Ritchie (1%, 9 )
  • Nabil Bentaleb (0%, 6 )
  • Danny Rose (0%, 5 )

    Neil,

You’ve raised a very sobering point when you suggested that Saint-Maximin is likely to be away. He’s not the only one who’s frustrated with the style of play currently on display at Newcastle.

Ashley’ll be clapping his hands at a great piece of business. Pay £16m and sell at maybe twice that in a matter of months. Add to ASM the likely sale of Miggy, Dubs and the Longstaff twins and he’ll have made quite a killing.

Neil, the last thing your dad needs is a visit to SJP while it’s in Ashley’s hands, I’m sure he’d get more pleasure walking Milo.

Can we hope and pray for some good news, news of Ashley’s reign being over – that’s the time to visit.

    Lesh,

I’m not going With shambles, but everyone is of course entitled to their own opinions.

We’re in a bad place and we need to get out of it (support will help)……but I understand why that is not forthcoming.

Ashley is the kind of shite to fire Bruce and get Niall Quinn as manager.

Imagine that scenario, just for one second, only to piss off the fans.

Looking at the games we have left our only real out is hopefully the teams in the bottom four play worse. Yes I know, that sucks like elephant dick.

I’m 300 miles away from home, Newcastle and thus don’t get to matches these days but, I do feel for the club I was born into. Heaven only knows how those who are closer to SJP feel about the state of their club. They see it, they live with it whereas the likes of you and I being away from Newcastle may well be less exposed to the anguish, the anger, resulting from Ashley cynical abuse of their club.

Being measured and tempering our emotions is good quality in people but fans must be asking themselves what they can do to be rid of Ashley. It is they who need support, not the club under it current ownership.

All of us know, after yesterday’s debacle many players would have told their agents to get on the phone right away.

i think St Max has the makings to go on to be one of the best wide midfielders in the world under the right manager and team.

But it’s never gonna happen to be under Bruce or us.

I too share your nervousness about data protection but if you use the BBC TV, you surely must at some time have registered the fact that you have a TV licence, via your TV set. If you’ve BBC iplayer on your TV, you must’ve registered by entering your user name, email address and password? If you’ve done that, you’re registered and all you’re expected to do to access BBC Sounds is register your current details and your in.

    Worry not, it’s the Beeb……

Modern Druids are a different type to the ancient ones that most people think of as Druids, let me say now that I aint one although that seems to be the popular misconception on the blog although I do know many and do feel a strong affinity with the Druid pathways.

I tend more towards chaos magic and the Norse beliefs, which has a freer less rigid path.

If we had a more attacking manager ASM would have scored more goals and be worth more. As it is hes only scored one which will knock 20-30m off that valuation. The same is true of all our attack minded players including even Longstaff who would also improve if played further up. Bruce must have knocked at least 50m off the players vsluations as they slowly return to their worst.

Worst thing is youd have to say a good manager would be worth an extra ten points at the very least so if Bruce hadnt come, we would be in s champions league place. We were improving all the time.

I think that most of the astute managers and clubs won’t see it that way, they’ll see players who will play well in their own set ups and be prepared to pay a good price to get them.

If ASM went for under £60m I’d be astonished, I’d also be bloody upset if he was sold but as one or two on the blog might have said player turnover is the criteria not club success.

Three Italian games cancelled due to coronavirus. Whats the odds on the premier league not finishing and the euros being cancelled? What happens if we cant play the last ten games? Where do you fit in an extra 5-10 games especially if next season has to start late.

i was assuming the other manager would have also picked up 28 points largely through Dubravka and fluke. bruce is the most clueless manager ive ever seen. ive seen no evidence of his influence. just Willems happy that bruce doesnt overload him with instructions which is maybe ok for one or two but shocking for young inexperienced players like Longstaff. no wonder his brother is being cautioned against signing. hes 18 and all the advice he gets is probably along the lines of ‘dee yer best kidda’ maybe a ‘try to get a goal.’

It was not all doom and gloom last night as the article indicates. Although we virtually didn’t have a shot at target, at times we were combining and Saint Maximin, Lazaro and Danny Rose were looking potent. Worryingly though, we’re still not safe and teams below us have picked up steam.

Has Beuce even told ASM and Almiron to retain possession. They seem to want to run alone frm their own half n score. Hardly anyone tries to run along with them as they dont expect a pass.

No one knows what Joelinton does except trying to bring down long balls.

As for the ASM Wolves thing, not sure what valuation they’ll have on him but if Wolves get 70M for Traore, I think Mikey would let him go for 55M, then we’re stuck with Krafth and Joelinton and that 55M goes in to the Perez money fund which gets filtered away in wages and fees and somehow somewhere Mikey is managing to make huge profits down the line. A massive cash cow while we have to suffer this shite. Palace hadn’t kept a clean sheet in over two months or won in nine yet we offered nothing.

If we don’t get anything from Burnley at home next week then game week 28 becomes the point where the talk of Bruce doing a better job than Rafa comes to an end. Purely coincidentally as that stat might get lost on the crowd. I think if we play like we have been, he doesn’t change things or drop Joelinton and Burnley get a win, I think the crowd will give him it. He’s said Ashley has been straight with him, talked about excellent business being done and we don’t need strikers as we have injured lads returning. Unfortunately for Brucie Mikey won’t be at the ground for the crowd to vent their anger. Brucie will be though and if he rings his mate Steve Mclaren he’ll find out how not nice it is in that dugout with 50K angry fans screaming at you.

Palace had their most shots on target than they’ve had all season. There is not a hope in hell’s chance Dubravka is playing against WBA. Wouldn’t it be sadly ironic if Brucie managed to relegate us while getting to a cup final, proving that Lee churnley’s independent research was right all along.

Personally I don’t think he will relegate us this season but where does he go from here. He’s not going to have Schar, Manquillo or Fed by the looks of it. By the sounds of his comment “players have their own prerogatives these days” (like they never used to have) it doesn’t look like Shelvey or Ritchie are signing new deals so surely they’ll be cashed in, same for Clark and Hayden. We’re going to end up with a new look team that this serial loser hasn’t even picked himself. He’s had the benefit of taking over a team on the up, he starts next year with a new team whose remaining players have been part of a second half slump, who know that the few points they have accumulated so far have had huge slices of luck and a keeper who’s faced more shots than any other in the league.
