Once again on Saturday, Allan Saint-Maximin tried desperately to create a moment of magic to get the stagnant Newcastle attack going. The Frenchman was one of only a few Magpies to show any urgency going forward in the second half.
While not much worked in the end for the 22-year-old, the impetus to get forward and try to get something to happen was at least endearing to some.
It’ll come as little surprise that there are now reports circulating of outside interest in Newcastle’s electric winger. The Daily Mail are claiming that Wolves have Allan Saint-Maximin listed as a potential replacement for Adama Traore.
There is expected to be a bidding war for the 24-year-old, who Wolves value at around £70m, with both Real Madrid and Barcelona reported to be interested.
If one of La Liga’s giants poach the Spanish winger this summer, Newcastle could have to fend off interest from Wolves in our star player.
Saint-Maximin, by all accounts, seems to love it at Newcastle. However, he has to be frustrated with the style of play currently on display at Newcastle.
Allan did sign a six-year deal when he joined this past summer for £16m from Nice. So Wolves would have to stump up quite a fee to prise him away just a year later.
We just don’t even want to think about losing Saint-Maximin after only one year. Hopefully, this team can find some answers in the final third and end this season on some sort of high. If they do, it’ll likely come through the exploits of our French winger.

Comment #41The fans shouldve hounded Bruce from day one. It was crazy to give him a chance. Ill repeat a post I made when we got him.
I gave JFK a chance. He was crap as expected.
I gave Pardew a chance. He was crap.
I gave McLaren a chance. He was crap.
I gave Carver a chance. He was crap.
So why should I give Bruce a chance.
All it does is give him more time to ruin things and Ashley the confidence to go hire the next dinosaur.
No more dinosaurs. No more Steves.

If we could properly boycott he’d be gone. I bet there’s not many prepared to give up their price freeze tickets next year and sacrifice the extra cost and just select the games they choose to attend.

Because we’ll get the blame for hounding him out in the media, we won’t come out of this looking good when he finally goes.

Really happy for him.

Comment #49As I said earlier, Burnley is massive for Brucie, people have been putting up with the football while nicking results, I just don’t see how he can improve us massively in time to keep the crowd off his back. How many times have we played decent at home, the two Manchester teams but they were just eleven men behind the ball and fighting spirit. You can’t do that against Burnley unless you’re going to get something out of the game.

AJ has been making all the right noises but he’ll lose.
Fury is a class above.
I fancied him last night, didn’t expect such a demolition, total masterclass.
AJ will get slapped about, poor mans Klitschko.
If Fury keeps his head screwed on, no one out there can beat him.

Our results are what our performances deserve, we’ve had all our luck.
This will be like Carvers stint as manager, not pretty.

Comment #54This end of season is going to be horrible viewing
For all his fine words about system and tactic changes
Bruce is a pragmatist and knows that 6 or 7 draws from our last
11 games will probably assure survival.
The only relief from the next 3 months of dour defensive backs to the wall
dross will be the FA cup.

“Steve Bruce isn’t the problem at #NUFC. Each game, each result is portrayed as a referendum on his management and another week goes by, ignoring the bigger picture … that the club is built to fail and that’s exactly what’s happening. Nobody can be surprised by that, surely?”
But Bruce is part of the problem… surely?

Comment #62Just watched MotD, can’t remember it being so one sided. They showed our stats bottom of everything bar goals conceded, which we are a heady 17th. The pundits reckoned it’s a miracle we’re not in the bottom three and that we’re in trouble.

Are you suggesting that with a couple of more lucky wins on the board we might see some swashbuckling attacking football for the run in.
Big Bruce Stars.
Feb 23, 2020 at 9:01 AM
Comment #65Bruce will get away with it this season. We have at least four teams below us to thank for that and a huge was of points we somehow fudged from this haphazard football.
This means the new season will begin with a clear out of the vestiges of last seasons squad, the loaners replaced with more upper management talent and “rebuilding” will be the excuse for another middle of the road finish. Be prepared to extend Bruce’s chance-giving.

Comment #66Totally missing the point by a mile lads. Just because the wall street printed an article that we were gonna be taken over all should be forgiven .
Yesterday was just another shitestorm showing by an inept manager and part Championship players. The club is truly and royaly Knackered from top to bottom. No good feel radiates or stems from no quarters. Deny all you want but Ashley is here to stay guys so get use to it

Comment #69I just don’t understand why some people where so keen to put the boot in to Rafa when he left, even choosing to believe the snake Churnley’s version of events. This whole situation is borne from a complete lack of ambition to compete. Ashley tried everything he could to force Rafa to quit once promotion looked likely, it must have been breaking his heart paying him 6M a year.

Have the struggles of a UEFA elite manager not taught you that however they bring in is going to be up against it. We’re crying out for a striker and they bring in an exciting winger to play in defence.

We’ve been parsimoniously run for thirteen tedious years now and a sale has never been imminent. Squandering 38M on Joelinton instead of 16.5 on Rondon is not being parsimonious.

Charnley could start by standing up for the club and people.hes suppose to represent
He could turn round the Ashley and be like Mike youve took the piss for the last(insert years on when he actually gets a back bobe) do you not think we should stop asset stripping and actually give back to the club.
