Last week, there was a report claiming that both Inter Milan and Marseille are very interested in bringing Matty Longstaff in this summer.
The 19-year-old would be available for a compensation fee of just £400k when his contract expires in four months. With Newcastle and the young Geordie currently enmeshed in a contract dispute, the situation is getting more dire by the day.
Newcastle are offering Matty a deal with terms that are better than they usually offer to a player of his age and stature at the club. However, the midfielder feels he should get a deal more in line with his first-team standing. At least that is what is being reported.
As this stalemate lingers, there’s likely to be more clubs popping up with reported interest in Longstaff. In fact, the Chronicle have an exclusive this morning that an unnamed European club are the first to offer Matty a deal.
The mystery club has reportedly kept their interest quiet but are hoping to get Matty to join them in July when his contract expires. Matty is still on the £850 per week deal he signed in 2018.
We don’t expect Matty to agree to sign with a club anytime soon. He’ll likely still hope that Newcastle soften their stance a bit so he can continue with his hometown club.
We expect the youngster, who didn’t make the bench yesterday, to play a part at West Brom on Tuesday. Hopefully, he can get some opportunities in the league over the final 10 games.
Matty is currently joint third in goals scored with Joelinton. They both have three goals this season. So maybe it can be Matty who can build on that total if given a chance in the next few months.
But most importantly, Newcastle need to get him signed up before a club comes in with an offer he can’t refuse.

Comment #3Jane, they do say that there’s no such thing as bad publicity. That’s pretty much agreed amongst publicists. Was it Oscar Wilde or Mark Twain – whoever it was – said “There’s only one thing worse than people talking about you and that’s people not talking about you”.
I’m which case, there’s only one Ashley PR on here because he talks about nobody and nothing else. 😀

Comment #8LOL, I somehow missed the bus!
My thoughts on the current takeover radio silence:
Talk about a takeover was really buzzing when Newcastle were winning games. They were up in the table, and it looked solid that they wouldn’t be relegated.
Well now the luck’s run out, and Newcastle haven’t scored a goal in a long time. Things are a little more precarious as far as staying in the PL.
If *I* were in the market to buy a football club, I’d put all negotiations on hold until I knew exactly what I was buying (a PL club vs. a Champ. club). I also wouldn’t want to buy a club mid-season. It’s no good to step in and make a bunch of changes when there’s only a handful of games left and relegation is still in the picture. It might makes things better, but it could also make things worse. Not worth the risk. I’d pull the trigger right after the season ended (given that the team stays up) so I could clean house, fire the idiots, and hire who I’d want running things. Then focus on the players by getting them evaluated and see what needed to be done in the transfer window. Use the off-season to upgrade facilities and work on public relations. A fresh start all the way around.

Comment #14The wife so that comment makes me think you believe there is a takeover in progress and it’s not just some publicity stunt to distract from the abysmal performances and running of the club. Be careful about having such an opinion I’ve seen people labelled PR and harassed for much less.

Comment #24You can be sure Jabba pays people to post here
Best place to start finding them is those who defend the guy regularly
People like JIB, Jane
Then there are those who are used to change the subject , usually through creating an argument
Can’t knock Jabba while arguing about something else
It’s plain to see

Comment #40Villa’s defenders must be knackered. Said it before though David Silva is an absolute joy to watch.
That will certainly help the cause though. Game on!
