Young Magpie Can Still Play A Part Despite Contract Situation

Last week, there was a report claiming that both Inter Milan and Marseille are very interested in bringing Matty Longstaff in this summer.

The 19-year-old would be available for a compensation fee of just £400k when his contract expires in four months. With Newcastle and the young Geordie currently enmeshed in a contract dispute, the situation is getting more dire by the day.

Newcastle are offering Matty a deal with terms that are better than they usually offer to a player of his age and stature at the club. However, the midfielder feels he should get a deal more in line with his first-team standing. At least that is what is being reported.

As this stalemate lingers, there’s likely to be more clubs popping up with reported interest in Longstaff. In fact, the Chronicle have an exclusive this morning that an unnamed European club are the first to offer Matty a deal.

The mystery club has reportedly kept their interest quiet but are hoping to get Matty to join them in July when his contract expires. Matty is still on the £850 per week deal he signed in 2018.

We don’t expect Matty to agree to sign with a club anytime soon. He’ll likely still hope that Newcastle soften their stance a bit so he can continue with his hometown club.

We expect the youngster, who didn’t make the bench yesterday, to play a part at West Brom on Tuesday. Hopefully, he can get some opportunities in the league over the final 10 games.

Matty is currently joint third in goals scored with Joelinton. They both have three goals this season. So maybe it can be Matty who can build on that total if given a chance in the next few months.

But most importantly, Newcastle need to get him signed up before a club comes in with an offer he can’t refuse.

Who Was Newcastle's Best Player In 0-0 Draw Against Burnley?

  • Miguel Almiron (39%, 496 )
  • Jonjo Shelvey (16%, 202 )
  • Matt Ritchie (12%, 153 )
  • Dwight Gayle (9%, 109 )
  • Martin Dubravka (7%, 93 )
  • Javier Manquillo (6%, 74 )
  • Joelinton (5%, 60 )
  • Federico Fernandez (2%, 26 )
  • Jamaal Lascelles (2%, 21 )
  • A. Saint-Maximin (1%, 13 )
  • Danny Rose (1%, 12 )
  • Isaac Hayden (1%, 11 )

Bruce and Charnley came up with the ticket idea
    Obviously the owner sanctioned it
It’s not the first season Charnley has come up with
    the concept of half-season tickets

Toon I only believe facts not some spin stories. Not really sure why the fact that I do not believe somebody has met Ashley’s valuation with a formal bid relates to me enjoying the football. Not many people on here criticising the team and Bruce every week as I do.

Nufc-83 but reading the comment imo suggests a bid was placed on the table by bzg esp given they confirmed proof of funds were shown and were eager as punch.

The fact of the matter is under MA the club does not do transparency. He will never go into too much detail and under the contract they signed up front bzg will not be able to disclose anything unless they wanted to be sued by MA.

    They’ve made STs worthless now
Why buy them when they are giving them away
That’s ignoring the fact it seems to not have attracted fans
The ground on Sat obviously wasn’t full and who was there seemed very quite
    I’ve heard estimates of about 45 k

He doesn’t care about the fans in any way shape or form. It’s all about keeping the advertising device looking good.

Unless Bruce is lying, yes I do. Truth is, he could give away 50k STs and still show a profit.

Droppy, you’re proving my point for me mate. There’s always half season tickets on sale come January, so if he was that bothered he’d have sold whatever he could. He didn’t even offer for sale, he gave them away. You could see his crappy adverts easier until he did that.
The truth is everybody claimed he’d be so heartbroken losing that much income he would sell up. Instead, he threw it in people’s faces and gave them away and people don’t like it. If that had been Sunlun you’d be laughing at them and saying “that showed you”. You can’t hold a billionaire to ransom over a few million quid and I’ve always maintained that fact. He’ll go when he gets the right offer and not before.

Toon behave, the ground was chocker on Saturday ffs. 52200. We even sold half of Burnley’s allocation, because they couldn’t. They’re not ST seats either, they’re pay on the day depending how many are left. They brought about 1500 out of a 3200 allocation and we sold the rest. Pure BS again.

Lmao Nufc-83 I think you need to take your Ashley tinted specs off for a second. You also need to take into consideration what type of man Ashley is and how he has done business his whole life. It’s well-documented in the business world that he likes to agree to deals only to move the goal posts and change specifics of the deal at the last minute. Did you watch the documentary about him on channel 5? People who knew him and have had business deals with him in the past talked about his tactics, essentially anyone who he seen as underneath him in the business sense he would bully and intimidate until he got what he wants. Sounds about right to me.

There’s never been 10,000 of them though and they’ve never just been given away.

As I said Droppy, there’s always a sale of half price STs if people want them. This season he didn’t even offer them for sale. I don’t even know what the argument is mate! 😀 He could’ve sold some if he wanted, but he went with Bruce and gave them away. People are just upset because the ground is full again and frankly, I don’t give a toss about people who want to see my team fail. I don’t. I Iove NUFC and the idea of not going to something I love is ludicrous. That buzz I get being in the ground with 50k others when the ball hits the net is priceless. I’m not giving that up over some half baked scheme that has clearly backfired. It’s so simple. If you’re not happy – don’t go. If success is the primary reason for supporting a team, they picked the wrong team.

Jail, I don’t know and neither do you. What I have said is that when you already have four striker’s in the squad, it’s always going to be one out, one in,or somebody picks up a hefty wage for sitting on their arse. And if you think Ashley would sanction that I’m at a loss for words.

Ashley sat there on national television and told the whole world a deal to sell the club had never been as advanced as it was now, and that hopefully a deal can be reached for all parties. His words. And, he still couldn’t sell it. How many times is lard arse going to try and fail to sell the club before we can brand him an unwilling seller? As George caulkin said either he’s not very good at it, or he doesn’t want to sell.
We will probably scrape over the line but that’s about it, the biggest problem for the “brains trust” is next season. We can sit here an debate about whether we had to sell before we can buy or the laughable there was no one better out there, until we’re blue in the face. Simply the “brains trust” feel its job done. Survival guaranteed.

Cans, you’re right. He gave them away because he could and to throw it in the face of so called boycotters. You can’t hold a billionaire to ransom with your ST. And he’s proven that by giving them away. You can look for as many excuses as you want, but they’ve been check mated.
When somebody matches his valuation he’ll go on his terms and not before.
So from good football chat we’re back to this crap again. Carry on without me.
