Young Magpie Can Still Play A Part Despite Contract Situation

Last week, there was a report claiming that both Inter Milan and Marseille are very interested in bringing Matty Longstaff in this summer.

The 19-year-old would be available for a compensation fee of just £400k when his contract expires in four months. With Newcastle and the young Geordie currently enmeshed in a contract dispute, the situation is getting more dire by the day.

Newcastle are offering Matty a deal with terms that are better than they usually offer to a player of his age and stature at the club. However, the midfielder feels he should get a deal more in line with his first-team standing. At least that is what is being reported.

As this stalemate lingers, there’s likely to be more clubs popping up with reported interest in Longstaff. In fact, the Chronicle have an exclusive this morning that an unnamed European club are the first to offer Matty a deal.

The mystery club has reportedly kept their interest quiet but are hoping to get Matty to join them in July when his contract expires. Matty is still on the £850 per week deal he signed in 2018.

We don’t expect Matty to agree to sign with a club anytime soon. He’ll likely still hope that Newcastle soften their stance a bit so he can continue with his hometown club.

We expect the youngster, who didn’t make the bench yesterday, to play a part at West Brom on Tuesday. Hopefully, he can get some opportunities in the league over the final 10 games.

Matty is currently joint third in goals scored with Joelinton. They both have three goals this season. So maybe it can be Matty who can build on that total if given a chance in the next few months.

But most importantly, Newcastle need to get him signed up before a club comes in with an offer he can’t refuse.

Who Was Newcastle's Best Player In 0-0 Draw Against Burnley?

  • Jonjo Shelvey (16%, 202 )

  • Javier Manquillo (6%, 74 )
  • Joelinton (5%, 60 )

  • Jamaal Lascelles (2%, 21 )

Unfortunately I am retiring from Egg drawings with immediate effect.

Now that it’s been brought to my attention that nothing is as wonderful as the delightful Mr Ashley.

Also nothing is as beautiful as a team coached by the magnificent Mr Bruce.

The biggest question is, how many points clear at the top will be after super Steve’s first complete pre season and summer window. He’s just that amazing.

He should be given a start for the cup hes certainly no worse judging by how the rest of the midfield is playing.

Nah can’t pick him if he won’t sign a contract that’s bound to be totally fair and exactly what he is worth, that’s how the club does everything after all.

NY mag if you’re around sorry I fell asleep last night, To answer your question yes we had a fantastic time in the Carribean. If I’m honest a lot of the Islands are very similar but I think we liked Antigua the best and then St Maarten (great name) 🙂

    There’s no danger.

Bruce is amazing, he’s finally freed the players from the mind control of the previous boss, we will win all of our remaining fixtures and Joe will win the Ballon D’or

    Martoon,

    Glad you enjoyed it mate.
Yes, you’re right…they all look pretty much the same. Visited both of the islands you mention in previous years (although neither were on the itinerary this year)

Carry on posting your utmost faith in Ashley’s ownership and policy and you’ll be deemed worthy of being known as a neggar, a moanster, one of The Blog’s Taliban.

When we see Sky commentators and the Daily Mail coming out and rubbishing him, something tells me that there are persons exercising their media muscle, out-playing Ashley and his mouthpiece Bishop. Might we read of threats to his wider business ambitions?

Something tells me that there’s something on the horizon.
