What Will Be The Result At West Brom In The FA Cup?

Tomorrow Newcastle travel to the Hawthorns to face West Brom in the Fifth Round of the FA Cup. It’s the first time Newcastle have reached this stage of the competition in the Ashley era. In 2006, the Magpies reach the sixth round before being knocked out by Chelsea.

Similarly to that season, the draws have been very favorable in the third and fourth rounds this year. Though it took replays for Newcastle to get past both Rochdale and Oxford.

They now face the Championship leaders who have a six-point cushion over third-placed Fulham. The Baggies’ main concern this season will be promotion, and they stumbled a bit this past weekend by losing to Wigan at home.

That loss ended a six-game unbeaten run in which West Brom collected 16 points. So the loss on Saturday may have a bearing on West Brom boss Slaven Bilic’s plans for Tuesday.

Steve Bruce will have plenty of options tomorrow with only Andy Carroll, Emil Krafth, and Ciaran Clark likely to be unavailable. Hopefully, Allan Saint-Maximin will be able to start after playing only around 15 minutes against Burnley due to his hamstring injury.

Newcastle have a great opportunity to get to the quarterfinals tomorrow. However, they’ll have to find a way to put the ball into the back of the net which they haven’t done in four straight games.

What Will Be The Result Against West Brom In The FA Cup?

  • Loss (56%, 776 )
  • Win (44%, 608 )

    From pennyblackmusic
Alan Price, the keyboard player, of your original line-up, managed to obtain royalties for ‘The House of the Rising Sun’ simply because only one band member’s name could fit on the record. Being young, talented musicians, you were thrust into a world of business that must have been daunting at times.

Darlow… Krath Lascelles Schar Rose… Hayden Longstaff… Lazarro Longstaff Joelinton… Gayle

Give Krath a try in a flat back four. Give Rose one last chance to show hes not just here to keep his fitness up. Rest our three stars Shelvey, Max and Almiron.

Our sub Gayle was their best player last year so we cant pretend they have superior players to us.

    To be fair to Price
It was his Hammond playing that made the record what it was

Dylan recorded a version of House of the Rising Sun on his first album, released in 62 (?).

    Fat Warnock,
When Brucie first arrived there where those that defended his shite record and horrendous GD as it being because he’s always been with shite clubs. There’s a footin good reason WHY he’s always been at shite clubs.

I recall The Alan Price Combo – they used to play in The Downbeat in Cariol Square.

The group was later to become The Animals of course!

The Downbeat has long gone perhaps just as well as it was a den of iniquity!

No one knows who wrote the song. So anyone could have claimed it. It had been around for years before the Animals recorded it.

House of the Rising Sun. First recorded in 1933 as the Rising Sun Blues. Leadbelly 1944. Joan Baez. Nina Simone. All before the Animals. As googled by my Husband.

Heres my team for the premier assuming 4231.
Dubravka… Yedlin Lascelles Lejeune Ritchie… Hayden Shelvey… ASM Almiron Joelinton… Gayle
Longstaffs Schar Lazarro Rose Bentaleb pushing for places. Only a knacker could take that team down witha seven point cushion.

One concern I have is Bruce trying to squeeze Ritchie into one of the attacking places. Cant see him dropping Rose as thats clearly one of his signings.

Bob Dylan does my favourite cover of House of the Rising Sun. Released about a year before the Animals I think. One of Dylans best in terms of vocals.

Bruce again made the Haller comparison on Saturday. After Haller had just scored his 7th PL goal of season. There is no comparison to Joelinton. He is the stand alone worst piece of business any PL club has done for a long time. Serious questions need to be asked internally.

It was Eric Burdon who first heard the song in a Newcastle Club sung by a Folk band. yet Price claimed all the song writers royalties, what a swine.

Just a Fat Neil Warnock – I would still argue that the nufc teams they had were better than the Hull team etc. that Bruce had which makes it an unfair comparison. Saying that I’m not confident Bruce will do any better with this nufc team!

In my 40’s I lived with a lass for nearly 10 years who went out with Alan Price when he was in his early 20’s and she was 17.

He tried every way to impress her but she kicked him into touch.

I also do a canny karaoke version of HoTRS and I once saw Eric Burdon with his girlfriend in an indian restaurant in the Bigg Market at the height of his fame.

I almost fee like one of the band 🙂

    Jib,

That’s utter tripe about the royalties. Price would have had to register his composer claim with Performing Rights Society.

Who wrote House of the Rising Son?
House of the Rising Sun is an American folk song, thought to be written by Georgia Turner and Bert Martin. This song tells of hard times in New Orleans. The most well known version was recorded by Eric Burdon and The Animals in 1964.

It was her version The Animals first heard. No one can claim rights to the song, meaning it can be recorded and sold royalty-free. Many bands covered the song after it became a hit for The Animals. The folk music historian Alan Lomax recorded a version in 1937 by a 16-year-old girl named Georgia Turner.
