Steve Bruce’s Injury Concerns Are Minimal After Giving Positive Update

During Steve Bruce’s press conference this morning he was asked about the condition of Allan Saint-Maximin after playing for 80 minutes against West Brom on Tuesday.

This is what Bruce said about Allan as well as Javier Manquillo, who has played ninety minutes in the last two games after returning from his hamstring injury.

“Allan is ok. He seemed bright yesterday. We think he’s going to be ok. That goes for them all. Manquillo was sore yesterday. We’ll see how he is.

“Everybody’s come through. As long as they get through today.”

We would expect both to start tomorrow, barring any issues during today’s session.

Newcastle released some images of yesterday’s training, and many pictures showed a happy squad after advancing in the FA Cup.

We saw Allan in a few of the photos but didn’t spot Javier in any of them, so he may have been rested yesterday.

Christian Atsu has returned to training after a recent illness kept him out of contention for the last two matches.

Emil Krafth is also still involved in training. His return will give Bruce three options at right back; however, it looks as though Manquillo is the clear number one at the moment.

Unfortunately, there was no Andy Carroll sighting as he continues to struggle with the injury that has kept him out of action for almost two full months now.

He’s only played 40 minutes of football in 2020, and his prolonged absence has been very disappointing.

However, with Dwight Gayle and Yoshinori Muto back fit, Bruce still has three options to spearhead the attack.

Overall, the injury situation has steadily improved, with just Ciaran Clark and Carroll not available for selection.

How Will Newcastle Fare Against Southampton On Saturday?

  • Loss (29%, 458 )
  • Draw (26%, 405 )

Is no one else worried that we will have to play Ciry behind closed doors? I’ve an awful feeling that we will get caught and it will be our first match with no crowd.

Wow, imagine being called a moron by the combined brain power + I.Q of munter and welshy. Don’t know whether to laugh or cry.

Being mugged off and taken in by beating 2 league 1 teams and a promotion chasing champo one. That apparently masks all our rock bottom stats. Still at least it only took 30 games for the tactical genius to finally stop blaming everyone else and publically calling his players for not being good enough to pass the ball while deploying a back 4.

Gonzalo Nicolás Martínez Is valued at 16.5 Million, he went to Atlanta for just over 15, so 20 should get him.

Rotunda , hard to disagree given we have beaten two league 1 teams after replays and wba reserve team who almost took us to extra time – masking an extremely poor run of form however , give us a few days to bask in the glory of being in the F.A Cup QUARTER FINALS wahooo

Theres a article in the mag that talks about Bruce’s presser today.

No talk of the poor form or the gap to the bottom 3 closing, Coronavirus and the talk of 2 players signing contracts that were reported 2 weeks ago.

Why don’t/aren’t the press asking Bruce what he’s going to do to change our fortunes in the Prem?

Other questions that the fans want answered never seem to be asked by the press, press conferences have seemed staged managed for years.

Are the first 3 words spoken

    “Lights, cameras, action” ?

Now if you can crack that, you will be rich beyond your wildest dreams.

Getting them to go outside I’d easy enough done, but beyond that it’s tricky.

I regularly walk 4 at a time and i swear they look around to make sure there’s no bins close.

Saw this comment and it didn’t seem quite right so I’ve altered it slightly.

I’d be very disappointed if Shelvey didn’t start for us next season, his overall play is more than good enough, he has so many moments in games where the cracking passes come off, very good mobility though, never any brain dead moments where he switches off and ultimately more than good enough.

He’s a fantastic player for any side, and if we want to kick on next season then the likes of Shelvey are the best players.

How on earth has Bruce “done better than expected”? What were you expecting at the start of the season Munster? I thought it was mid to upper table?

Rotonda, I have two degrees, Im fine for brainpower thanks. Now try to use your own and try to find some balance. If SB said ” it will take a miracle to stay up” what would you say?? Rafa whinged like a good un, but not a squeek out of a cheap self important hypocrite like you.

Tsunki, your words not mine. I was cexpecting very much towards the bottom of the table. By your measurement we can therefore say that rafa, the ex world class manager, failed too. Thanks for clarifying.
