With Newcastle moving to a back four in the past week with immediate success, that will likely be the formation Bruce recruits for next season. With six center-backs on the books, Bruce will have some decisions to make in the summer.
Both Paul Dummett and Ciaran Clark are out for the rest of this season with injuries. Florian Lejeune and Fabian Schar are behind Bruce’s preferred pairing of Jamaal Lascelles and Fede Fernandez.
Six will be too many to carry next season though Paul Dummett can play left back in a flat back four.
We had expected Newcastle to recruit a young center-halve in the summer. However, that’s not going to be a priority position by any means.
We’ve been linked with a fair few this season like Preston’s Ben Davies and Real Valladolid’s Mohammed Salisu. Now, 90min have a report of our interest in Manchester City’s Tosin Adarabioyo.
Tosin Adarabioyo– on loan this season with Blackburn
The 22-year-old is currently on loan at Blackburn where he’s made 27 appearances. Last season, he made 36 appearances on loan at West Brom.
The young defender will return to Manchester City this summer without much of a path to the first team. With just one year remaining on his contract, the Citizens will make Adarabioyo available but for a steep price.
The report claims City want at least £20m for the Manchester-born defender, and any deal must include a buy-back clause. There are reportedly several clubs interested in bringing Adarabioyo in, including Newcastle.
Everton are credited with leading the race but Burnley, Leicester City, Wolves, and Southampton are also said to be interested.
Newcastle may look to bring in a young center-back and offload one or two of our current ones to bring some youth to the position. We just can’t see them paying such a hefty price for one this summer.
Our funds would be better spent elsewhere. Like getting a couple of strikers who can put the ball in the back of the net.
Who Was Newcastle's Man Of The Match Against Southampton?
- A. Saint-Maximin (69%, 1,251 )
- Jonjo Shelvey (14%, 252 )

’Bills son
Players don’t necessarily have to be sold against their wii for people to have a go at Ashley.
Any half decent player’s head can be turned by the attention of bigger or more ambitious clubs than NUFC under Ashley.
How could we lose ASM for instance? Well, just think if Ashley continues to show no ambition to compete in Europe, maintains a regime of underinvestment and failure to build on success.
Under those circumstances, wouldn’t selling a player like ASM who has ambitions to win things and wanted away be because of Ashley’s greed?
Or has that never been the case and Ashley can do ko wrong?

Comment #14Just been watching a Southampton site showing their fans being interviewed after the match. They are all moaning that all the decisions were wrong, the ref. was biased, VAR is rubbish etc and the best one of all “We’re sick of playing teams like Newcastle who only come to play defensively and hope to have a successful breakaway to score a goal”. Who are these people? Do they actually watch football?
Every decision yesterday was correct. The challenge on Hayden could have been a leg breaker and the handball was so obvious as to be laughable. As for playing defensively – if we had a half decent central attacker (Instead of the dire Gayle) up front we’d have been 4-0 up at half time.
I don’t know what the air is like on the South Coast but it’s obviously affecting people’s brains and eyesight.

It’s only common courtesy to thank anyone for helping by providing a link for example.
You did the right thing as yer man must’ve made a special effort to find a link, post it and . receive recognition.
Being provocative also results in recognition, whether positive or negative, psychological strokes.

If he wanted to build, why only Anita after a 5th place finish?
Why let Rondon and Rafa go?
3 reasonable quality players over 3 years isnt exactly building a team or squad. Better than before but no great shakes.

Comment #27He’s not losing anything froggy. It’s you who’s lost the plot if you think the system will turn on a billionaire. You are so naive it’s unreal.
It’s a football team we support. It may be a football club, but only utter dunderheads follow the rest of it, it’s all about the big green thing and the players on it.
We get a good three points and all the usual morons can talk about is drool dribble blurb but bruh, Ashley this and drool dribble traitor that.
Never been fans. CUSTOMERS. If that. Boo hoo, I’m spending money and people laugh at me because my team isn’t as good as their team. 😀
Not that half of ye would know about the big green thing – it’s what they play FOOTBALL on.
I think half of ye come on here because you’re lonely tbh. You wouldn’t know a real football fan if he fell on ye from a great height. What a bunch of cry babies. This used to be a great blog. What a bunch of plastic whining part time fairweather glory hunters, devastated they chose the wrong bandwagon to jump on. Well you did. Serves you right. Go support some other team who might win you a bit of reflected glory you so crave.
