Newcastle United Confirm Dubravka Out Until At Least April

Newcastle United have confirmed that Martin Dubravka has suffered a knee injury that will keep him out until at least April.

This is devastating news as Martin has been our player of the season. He has also made 79 straight starts for Newcastle in the Premier League since joining in January of 2018.

Steve Bruce will now turn to Karl Darlow with Rob Elliot as the back up for at least our next two matches. We face Sheffield United this Saturday and then comes the FA Cup match against Manchester City, where Darlow may have been given the nod even if Dubravka was fit.

So hopefully, the Slovakian will miss just the one Premier League match and be back for our trip to Bournemouth in the first week of April. Martin will also miss Slovakia’s EURO qualifier against the Republic of Ireland on the 26th of March.

This lads been motm half our games this season as well.

Gonna be a big miss but I have faith in darlow, he’s a good keeper and looked decent in the cup games.

To be fair to darlow he has been ok in the cup and helped to get us this far.
Personally I would have been disappointed if he had been dropped against city but it would have been a hard call for the manager.

Could be one hell of a dilemma for Brucie, Darlow plays well, we beat Shef and City and then Dubs is fit….

Would rather see Euro ’20 postponed to next year to allow our domestic leagues to finish all their games if need be!

Pleased with the Fernandez extension. One of my favourite players. Would’ve given him a 3 year extension until he’s 34. Good defender who can pass well and cross. Technical player. Doesn’t make many mistakes. Probably our best defender at the club. Schar and Lejeune are slightly better on the ball but Fernandez is better at defending. Our centre backs are class. We can even afford to get rid of Lascelles and keep Clark. Been pleased with Clark this season too. We must sign Willems. Far better than Danny Rose. Don’t like Bentaleb and don’t rate Hayden, Sean Longstaff etc. I would sign Lazaro and possibly sign another right back and two left backs. We also need 2 central midfielders and a right winger plus three strikers. God knows why we didn’t sign Jarrod Bowen. Big mistake.
