Two Top Clubs Reportedly Interested In Popular Magpie

According to Paraguayan football commentator Luis Enrique Perez, Miguel Almiron is drawing interest from both Arsenal and Inter Milan.

This news comes via the broadcaster’s Twitter page.

His tweet roughly translates to:

Miguel Almiron of GRAN management in English football and a member of the Paraguayan National Team is interesting both England’s Arsenal and Italy’s Inter Milan.

While Enrique Perez is a compatriot of Almiron, this is not being reported by any other outlets that we can find. So we’re not sure where he’s getting his information.

We would expect there to be some interest in Miguel this summer after his recent displays for Newcastle. However, just like with Allan Saint-Maximin, Newcastle can hold out for an exorbitant fee for the popular Paraguayan.

Miguel joined Newcastle last January from Atlanta United and signed a five-and-a-half-year deal to 2024. He started brightly playing on the left before injuring his hamstring and missing the final three games of the season.

Almiron struggled to begin with under Steve Bruce, who had the 26-year-old on the right-wing for much of this season. It took Miguel until his 27th game in a Newcastle shirt to score his first goal in December against Crystal Palace.

However, since then he’s scored six times in all competitions to overtake Jonjo Shelvey as the club’s leader. Miguel has come to life playing in his preferred number 10 role over the past few matches.

We can’t see Almiron leaving this summer barring a blockbuster fee being offered. Though he is likely to attract attention from some top clubs.

Wouldn’t West Ham also need to be kept off the pitch since they played Arsenal this past weekend and during the 2 weeks at risk period? By this logic their players were put at risk by the Gooners same as the City players would be.

We should be concerned if not resigned to the likelihood of Almiron and ASM moving on this summer. It’s just the way of things.

There’ll surely be a knock on effect of the postponement and one must wonder what plans the football authorities have for placing etc at the season’s end?

There’s a possibility that the entire season will get in effect cancelled, so the bindippers won’t win the League officially.

That’ll give them something else to moan about I suppose – after all, it’s never their fault is it.

Jail there have been quite few cases of folk not showing any symptoms but being carries and passing the virus on unknowingly,
people’s lives are more important than football, if its means taking a months break why not go for the safety first approach

Theres a guy on our site who came back from China 7 weeks ago, been proper Ill

Everyone on site has flu like symptoms, I’ve had them for 4 weeks.

Who knows if it’s the virus or just a cold.

Wouldn’t surprise me if we all have mild cases of it.

It’s a huge problem for building sites.

Atleast half are self employed, no chance of sick pay.

The contractor wants the job done, just a cold etc.

Its actually one of the site managers who came back from China.

Building sites are the most dangerous places to work to start with, without this going on.

OP, if you’re snotty, then it’s not the Coronavirus as it doesn’t affect the mucus membranes in the nasal passages. It’s more likely the common cold / flu.

Coronavirus starts with a cough, then a fever, then shortness of breath – it’s a viral infection that affects the mucus membranes in your lungs and throat.

Jail, the NHS has tested around 20,000 people over the last couple of weeks. Compare that to 1,500 in the USA and then think about the difference in population numbers.

The NHS is stretched enough testing those with symptoms, for anyone to say ‘well there’s a footy match at stake here, these players need testing STAT’ would just be ridiculous.

    RobLeenio,
Who said anything about the NHS, it’s a billion pound industry, get a private doctor in to test them, if they cancelled last night then they have to cancel West Ham and Arsenals game at the weekend, then tell everyone who has come in to contact with them and them and them and them to self isolate, just test the players, what 24 of them and if they’re clear it clears thousands if not tens of thousands as well. Then stop everything coming in and out of the country.

Wow – some folk better get their facts right or better still get their “total” facts right.

Amateur quacks and snake oil salesmen really should not be posting their “absolute” list of coronavirus symptoms – to do so could end up with horrific circumstances.

To arrogantly (and obviously without possessing any medical degrees) post on a blog duff info about this subject is unforgivable.

Whilst typically mucous/phlegm is not normally produced as a symptom of this infection it can happen and the professionals would say it is a rare occurrence or an atypical occurrence.

I think a bog retraction and general blog apology should be in order.

Good that Almirón is scoring a few so that Ashley could ask for a few million extra for him. The one year extension of Fernandez also does not convince me he’d be with us next season; his signing for extension just lets Ashley put a higher price on him. Other than them I’d say Saint Maximin and Schär are also unlikely to be with us next season and so would be Lazaro.

“Whilst typically mucous/phlegm is not normally produced as a symptom of this infection it can happen and the professionals would say it is a rare occurrence or an atypical occurrence”

So, in general terms, if you’re snotty, then it’s not the coronavirus. If it is, then you’re a very isolated case. If everyone on a building site is snotty, then it’s so close to 100% certain that you all have either the common cold or the flu that it’s not worth quibbling over.

    From the NHS website:

    The symptoms of coronavirus are:
    a cough
    a high temperature
    shortness of breath
But these symptoms do not necessarily mean you have the illness.

Do you really think I would post anything that I hadn’t first considered and had read / heard from official sources?

Also, the mucous / phlegm – have you checked whether that’s produced from the nose or the lungs? If the lungs, then my assertion about being snotty isn’t even contradicted. Unless you routinely produce snot from your lungs.

What an ar$e you are at times!

Jail, fair point re private testing – not sure over availability of test kits, though. Then there’s the PR angle – imagine if Arsenal FC became a confirmed major source of the infection and they had known about this link to the Olympiakos guy and had done nothing. They, the FA, the Premier League and footy in general would have been hammered.

That’s not to mention the obvious human angle.

I think they just couldn’t take the chance.
