BBC pundit Mark Lawrenson has made his predictions for this weekend’s Premier League games. He is picking Newcastle to defeat Sheffield United 2-0 on Saturday.
Here is his brief prediction:
Sheffield United’s success story this season just keeps going on and on.
But Newcastle have made a habit recently of nicking wins – they did it again at Southampton last week – and I am going to tip them to do the same this time.
Lawro is on a roll in picking Newcastle results. He’s predicted the correct outcome for our last five matches in all competitions. We certainly hope he is right once again.
A win would be an outstanding result against an in-form Blades side. They are unbeaten in their last six matches, including two FA Cup wins.
Newcastle won 2-0 at Bramall Lane in December with a terrific performance from Martin Dubravka. We’ll have to do it without the Slovakian on Saturday.
Karl Darlow should get the nod in place of Dubravka. The 29-year-old has been itching to play more games with just 5 cup appearances this season.
He’ll get his chance on Saturday for the first time in over two years in the Premier League.
