We had an article out yesterday from Neil where Mike Ashley tried to say that his business – selling sports equipment – was essential and should not be shut down becasue of that.
Prime Minister Boris Johnson had put a three-week lockdown in place, and everybody had to stay at home unless it was absolutely necessary.
And the selfish, self-centered billionaire was given short shrift on that.
Cabinet Office minister Michael Gove went on ITV’s Good Morning Britain yesterday and had the following to say about Ashley’s claim.
“My view is that Mike Ashley should rescind what he said. He should back off. The key thing we need to do is make sure people wherever possible stay at home.
“Yes it’s important people exercise but that should be done once a day and it’s a basic thing.
“People can walk, run or cycle, they should, but there is no reason for a store like Sports Direct to remain open.”
And today famous broadcaster Piers Morgan has blasted Mike Ashley for that action.
Here’s a tweet from Steve Wraith that has Piers Morgan’s comments – and Piers doesn’t hold back – as per usual.
Could not have said it better myself @piersmorgan Ashley has made a huge mistake here. Treated this country with absolute disdain, put profit before the health and safety of staff and customers. #BoycottSportsDirect #AshleyOut pic.twitter.com/KTR5892WwV

Maybe people will now realize the type of person we have running our club – everything he does is for his own good and he seems not to care less if Newcastle win or lose.
Just that we get enough points to stay in the Premier League where big money is.
Please somebody out there – come and buy us – please.
