National League Requests Cancellation of Season – Will Likely Have Serious Knock-On Effect

There’s news in the Evening Standard today that The National League has asked the FA to cancel the season for all its three divisions.

The National League consists of the National League, National League North, and National League South.

The National League is the lowest of the five nationwide football divisions in England, and below the Premier League and the three divisions of the EFL.

The Evening Standard report that this – if the request is approved – will likely have a knock-on effect for other leagues, and I fully expect the three EFL leagues and the Premier League to have their seasons canceled.

At that time, it will be all about when next season can start, but there will be legal and financial questions to be asked – and answered.

There has been no decision made yet, but the National League officials are currently in discussions with the FA about canceling their league. – and the clubs will need money in these drastic times.

They are not financially secure enough without the match-day income.

The Premier League will also likely get less money from the broadcasters of the games if the PL is canceled – since there were only 29 games played and not the full 38 game season.

And what happens about promotion and relegation?

These are difficult questions.

Here is an extract from the Evening Standard report:

If the National League and Football Association opt to cancel the outstanding fixtures, they are not expected to immediately determine the outcome of the unfinished season, which could yet be declared null and void or decided on a points-per-game basis.

The Isthmian Premier League, the Northern Premier League and Southern Leagues – which make up steps three and four of non-league – said last night they are “unanimous in wanting to terminate the 2019-20 season immediately” but could not determine the final placements until the National League has officially reached a decision.

We cannot allow squeezing games in if the coronavirus has not been completely cleared up – and we don’t see that happening for some time.

We have to save lives – that’s the most important thing in the current siutation.

Which On Loan Left Back Should Newcastle Pursue This Summer?

  • Jetro Willems (52%, 600 )
  • Both (28%, 318 )
  • Neither (12%, 137 )
  • Danny Rose (8%, 95 )

As time goes by Jabba will simply dig himself a bigger hole
He won’t ever do the right thing
For me he is in real trouble his actions point to him being up the creek
Desperately trying to make money where there’s obviously none there

He’s got to keep this up for about 3 months minimum

From previous, I lived in Karlsruhe 2012/13. Interesting little town, the home to the highest court in Germany.

    Never saw the football.

To much money in the other leagues, it’s like comparing an original Skoda with a Ferrari.

If they do cancel the national league then that’s all I feel will happen, cannot cancel the Prem and leagues below, to much money involved period.
