Steve Bruce Wants This Player Signed In Summer – Fans Not So Sure

Steve Bruce seems adamant he wants to buy Danny Rose in the summer, and we had an article out recently saying Tottenham would not stand in Newcastle’s way, and would only ask for a reasonable fee,

We don’t know what reasonable means but it should be small because the England International has only one year left on this Spurs contract this summer.

But Newcastle will pay nowhere near the £20M Spurs were asking in January, but we may be willing to pay half of that.

But Newcastle fans have not been convinced that he would necessarily b a good buy.

Danny himself has said we have not seen the best of him at Newcastle, and the 29-year-old seems very keen to join what he called a big club when he joined the Magpies on loan in January.

This is what Bruce has told the Chronicle: about Danny Rose (shown above)

“He is an established quality player.”

“We managed to get him through the door and he will be great for the next three months. And hopefully longer after that.”

“He is a great thinker to have in the dressing room.”

“When he walked through the door gave everybody a lift.” “That is what a really good player does.”

“Listen, Danny Rose is a stick on.”

“He is what you call stick on quality. He was England’s left-back only last November.”

“I am delighted with him. That is the quality we brought in and that is the quality we aspire to. That is what we need.”

In our poll, only 9% prefer him to Jetro Willems at left-back, and 52% prefer the 25-year-old Dutchman.

Which On Loan Left Back Should Newcastle Pursue This Summer?

  • Jetro Willems (52%, 600 )
  • Both (28%, 318 )
  • Neither (12%, 137 )
  • Danny Rose (8%, 95 )

Total Voters: 1,150

We already have Paul Dummett at left-back, and he should be back from injury in the summer – so we probably only need one new left-back/wing-back brought in this summer.

It appears that Jetro will not be fit until later this year.

We wouldn’t be too surprised if Bruce signs Rose this summer, and then signs Willems once he’s fully fit.

But that would be overdoing it a bit on the left side of the defense.

And we must use the money this summer – however much that will now be – to sign two good strikers who can convert those chances we are creating.

Comments welcome.

both rose (fitness and age wise) and willems are somewhat gambles. With willems hes had a few serious injuries and there will always be that element to him. Imo I would take that max from augsburg as there’s more to his game but I would imagine some serious money to leave his current club.

Anyway take care everybody and stay indoors if possible.

Re what Nicky was saying there are many lessons we will have to learn from this as virus recedes at least for a few months. Exactly what ,whether we will or not and how soon and lasting they are remains to be seen

But am staying positive and believing/hoping that a better society could come from this as the alternative is too painful to contemplate especially now in the midst of things.

For as much as some uncaring selfish folk annoy me I remain proud overall of by far the great people in this country who humble us with their continuing sacrifices in many different ways from the front lines and volunteering to behind the scenes and unsung.

Applaud in recognition and solidarity tonight at 8:00 GMT

Has he actually said he wants him. I dont believe any reports from anyone anymore so much of it is bs. Unless Bruce flat out says I want to sign him permanently I’m not believing a word of it.

Is anybody keeping a sh*its’ list for when this over?

“Rick Stein has refused to to pay his workers’ wages for over a month while his restaurants are closed.

“According to the Daily Mail, the celebrity chef and tv presenter told staff across the 14 sites they would not be paid until the end of April when the government is scheduled to pay wage subsidies to businesses that have shut down.

“The news comes after Gordon Ramsay came under fire for laying off more than 500 staff members at his string of restaurants amid the coronavirus crisis.”

didn’t get a chance to mention your Roy Orbison reference last night. I saw it when first on many years ago and it was a great tribute by a lot of music heavyweights to a man who had seen much personal tragedy- great watch

Won’t bore Blog during day with music stuff but might touch on if i make it on tonight

Yes thank you and same to you and yours and of course everyone on here or visiting.

This weather over last few days ( presumably much same in Yarm – I seem to recall you are around there) is an early boon but chill heading back by weekend.

Sun on your face is a big lift at any time but especially in present difficulties

We are lucky to have a decent sized back garden not directly overlooked by neighbours and can get out there to start to pushback Winter’s ravages or just chill out.

We dont go out for walks at all as wife (and therefore myself) are shielding) so garden is vital.

Blog has been a born-again outlet for me in recent days and i have enjoyed renewing Blog aquaintances even if i have found it personally difficult to consider football much right now but don’t mind others doing so ( apart from some obvious exceptions but each to their own).

Out for some more Vitamin D – good for immune system

    Stay sane and safe all

    Morning all

Another 9 virus cases in South Tyneside and its getting worse. I hope the people who have got it are all going to be ok. Ive got a 71 yr old pal who is adamant he has got it , he.s been in isolation for 2 weeks , his wife also has all the symptoms.
One thing that has shone through all of this is the support everyone gives to their fellow man, everyone is pulling together in so many ways.
Its great to see fellow bloggers giving helpful advice and showing that they are concerned about each others welfare. a breathe of fresh air, to which can sometimes be a very hostile group of opinionated gentlemen :).
