Free Agents Will Be In Huge Demand This Summer – Here’s Some Newcastle Are After

With the holdup of the Premier League season and its possible cancelation due to the coronavirus pandemic, Premier League clubs will be under some financial pressures this summer.

But they will be nothing like the pressures on the smaller clubs – some of whom could go bankrupt due to the cessation of money flow into the club.

It’s an unfortunate state of affairs for those smaller clubs – the lifeblood of football in England.

But back to the Premier League – and because of the shortage of money, it’s clear that free agents – those out of contract this summer, will be in strong demand.

We used to call them free transfers, but there’s nothing free with transfers these days.

The players get a signing-on fee and the agent’s fees seem to keep growing … and growing.

The Athletic have a report out today saying that Newcastel are after three free agents.

They’re said to be monitoring Chelsea’s Olivier Giroud, Adam Lallana of Liverpool (shown above), and Bournemouth’s Ryan Fraser.

We were interested in Giroud when he was still at Montpelier before he signed for Arsenal in 2012, and in Adam Lallana when he was at Southampton, and before Liverpool signed him back in 2014.

The three players are all highly rated by Newcastle manager Steve Bruce, and all three would be good signings for us.

But given the intense competition from bigger and more ambitious clubs, it’s difficult to see Newcastle attracting any of those three to Tyneside this summer.

Let’s hope that’s not the case because we need better players signed this summer.

The single most important free agent signing that NUFC can make this summer is Matty longstaff. If they allow him to leave before he’s reached his potential as a player, it will be the worst example of dereliction of duty in player recruitment in the history of Ashley’s reign.

    This lad has to stay.

The pitches alone will never in a million years stand up to so many games played on them. There is 90 odd games in total to be played.

That alone puts the kibosh on it happening. Nothing happening for another month at best then a month for players to get match fit. Wed be into June or July before it’s even possible to start it, leaving how long to have the actual tournament a month? To play 90 games on 2 pitches.

The whole thing is ludicrous to even suggest its possible. There is not going to be a finish to this season it’s over. How do some people not see this???????

I agree with Bill’s on Matty. He really is being hyped up to ridiculous levels. He hasn’t shown anything to prove hes better than average. Except his two well taken goals. I personally wouldnt care less if he leaves. Good luck to him if he wants out.

There’s something I always found wrong about Lallanas beard. It looks like a chin strap on one of those rubber hats they put on people to stop them smashing their heads.

The romance of Matty Longstaff the “local lad” who scored against Man Utd has blinded good judgement, to which good Dr.Ed has not been immune

You have to remember Dr Eds background he’s bound to have a different take on ML. I can see the point but in this case being cruel as football is, I don’t think he would turn out to be a significant loss and if we got a decent money replacement he would be quickly consigned to history, sadly. Bruce tried to include him in midfield for a run of games but the more he bedded in the more anonymous he became.

There you have it folks, the new poster dabassman, Mike Ashley’s latest cheerleader respects MA as a businessman. One of the most odious business characters of the 21st century who puts profit before lives, has been called to account gawd knows how many times for his treatment of workers and dabassman respects him. This is the type of person you find yourself debating with should you wish to engage with him.

The lad is nineteen, he’s the youngest home grown player to have made our first team in a generation, he’s shown aptitude for the big games, an eye for goal and the ability to mix it with players way more experienced and skillful than him.

We have no idea how good he can become, but it’s at a far higher level than he is now. To contemplate letting him leaves shows up people’s football knowledge imo.

Yes there are plenty of players way more experienced and skilful than him. That’s why it makes no sense to offer him an inflated contract which he must be hanging out for.
