Sky Sports reporter Keith Downie has tweeted the following about what his sources have told him about the recent developments in the Amanda Staveley-led consortium’s attempt to purchase Newcastle.
Sources involved directly in Newcastle United takeover have indicated that PCP Partners are in advanced talks with Mike Ashley to buy the club. This follows significant Companies House legal document that emerged this morning #NUFC
— Keith Downie (@SkySports_Keith) April 14, 2020
Downie has received confirmation that talks are at an advanced stage. His revelation comes on the heels of the legal document submitted to companies house this morning.
This seems to be a very significant step in this latest takeover saga.
Downie’s colleague, Pete Graves, has also tweeted about the document and claims that the takeover is closer than ever.
Patience has always been the key. No #cans yet. But documents doing the rounds are genuine legal documents. Takeover is closer than ever. Ashley feels time is right to sell. Full update on @SkySportsNews in due course. PS Happy Birthday to @SkySports_Keith ??? #nufc
— Pete Graves (@PeteGravesTV) April 14, 2020
It’s interesting that he mentions Ashley’s willingness to sell which has always been a massive obstacle in the past. Hopefully, Graves is correct in his assertion that Mike Ashley feels now is the right time.

The documents were sent to Companies house last week, things will have progressed since then.
I would hope/expect an announcement in next 48 hours absolute maximum, and probably nearer next 4.

Comment #9Is it not possible that the £150m loaned to AS is the money owed to Jabba by the club and that he has transferred that money to AS so the purchase of the club can go ahead without any outstanding loans, and that AS will then pay off the loan by arrangement with Jabba at a later date?
Either way with that loan, it was made from St James Holdings not Mash holdings, so I doubt Jabba loaned her anything. just a thought.

Comment #20Id say hes transfering the debt to her so now PCP owe Ashley 150m and the club owes him nothing or maybe hes loaning the money to buy 50% of club.

Sportsmail has been told that the deal on the table is a £200m payment up front with the balance of £150m over a period of up to five years. The new documents appear to be laying the legal framework for such a deal to proceed. [Daily Mail]

Comment #24While I’m delighted with the takeover news if Ashley is having to lend PCP the money does that mean they are on their own and not backed by a cash rich investor?

As far as i know mate Staveley is only worth £150M, so if £200M has been paid up front, just a rumour mind, then she must have other backers, The Reubens are worth 16 Billion
