Fans Will Be So Upbeat Today – George Caulkin Reveals Deal Almost Done – Big Plans In Place For The Future

The fantastic article in the Athletic today will make Newcastle fans feel an awful lot better this Tuesday morning.

It basically says the takeover deal is done, and the papers have been into the Premier League since April 9th with no red flags coming from the league on the potential ownership of the consortium.

The deal and consortium have been brilliantly put together and led by Ms. Amanda Staveley.

As expected, they have thought through a lot of things – something Mike Ashley never did – and have a three-year plan in place for Newcastle with money to in est in both the infrastructure and in players.

They have been working hard on a mission statement for the club, which will likely be part of the takeover announcement.

The new owners want to make the club a lot more fan-friendly and have already talked to “supporters, former players and other key figures in the city.” to further understand what they want.

PIF governor and future Newcastle Chairman, Yasir Al-Rumayyan

And they have already received some contact from players’ agents with players who may want to join the new Newcastle United.

We will soon have a global presence in football after a year or two.

But the upcoming announcement will be world-wide news because Saudi Arabia is backing the club.

There will be those that denounce the deal because of the Saudi’s terrible human rights record, and on the blog, we have already received those kinds of messages.

But what can we do – ask Ms. Staveley to not go ahead with the deal?

It’s daft to even think that, and we have to hope the Saudis start to improve their human rights record and quickly.

This is what Caulkin reports was in the deal Ms. Staveley had put together two years ago, which Ashley dismissed as a waste of time:

“Two years ago, when she admitted to having financial backing from sovereign wealth funds, Staveley planned to invest £100M on players over the first two transfer windows and the same again on infrastructure”

The consortium also will use common sense with the money and try to get value for it.

And we’d be surprised if we see stupid money being paid out for players as we saw initially with Chelsea and Manchester City when they were bought by billionaires, who wanted to invest in the club.

What do you think?

Browini did Charnley seriously work for Newcastle before Ashley, since when roughly and what was his role back then?

I always thought he was a employee of Ashley.

I’ve never seen a problem with Charnley before and I always thought it was unfair to blast him because hes almost certainly just doing what hes told by the fat lad.

But if he was here before Ashley then we have to give him a chance.

Charnley will be useful for a transition period. He knows the club inside out but was just unfortunately promoted way above his ability by a man who preferred blind loyalty to ability.

On another note, how many times has each media outlet said the EXACT same thing over and over and over the past month. None of them have a clue they are all just spouting the same lines to not fall behind others.

In the absence of information, the papers have to fill their pages and get their clicks somehow. It’s their job. Saying that, I’d much prefer they didn’t blag it and instead wrote insightful opinion pieces or well researched historical pieces like The Athletic do.

Yes in the days of the internet there is usually one source and then the others all just latch on to it. If you use a site such as Newsnow you can actually watch it happen in real time

Mirandinha – Charnley was just unfortunately promoted way above his ability

Where is your evidence for that?

Wow slow down Ed you’re up and about early!
Just because Charnley was hers as a young bloke long before Ashley doesn’t mean we have to keep him.
He has for years been complicit in Ashley’s underhand methods and we have suffered. The fact that he, as Managing Director has never uttered a single word to the fans shows how weak he is. As soon as he’s done the handover I’d pay the tw@t off and be rid of him along with every bit of Ashley’s ownership!

Just saw Lucien Favre’s name mentioned for managers job. I think he could be a good option, he is reasonably successful, good tactician, attacking football, out of contract in June has a relationship with Haaland who is rumoured to have a 68m release clause which isn’t beyond the realms of possibility as a spend on a striker and would be a massive statement and hopefully solve our goalscoring problem.

I know it hasn’t happened yet, but we can dream

The players will know nothing! Ashley is above all that and he will have instructed Charnley to say nothing! Actually, Charnley probably doesn’t know anything!

According to the Iceland website they were open at 8pm for the oldies.

We got there and it wasn’t going to open until 9am.

went to Aldi instead, hardly any wait and got most of what we wanted.

Only mentioning it in case any one on here decides to try and go early to Iceland.

Although times may differ in different areas.

    Hi all
Someone mentioned yesterday that Ashley would possibly simply disappear without having any thing to say. I predict he’ll make a statement which will include him having the best interests of the club at heart and therefore selling up to the filthy rich Saudis,
You don’t own a PR firm for no reason.

On another note, if this goes through, I can’t wait to buy my kids and myself a replica jersey each.its been years since I’ve bought anything from the club.
Their merch sales are going to go through the roof.

I dont know Charnley from Adam but he does seem to be well able for the deal and negotiations. He also very hard to replace with his 6 years of knowledge running the club.

Take off your blinkers guys, Charnley ain’t the problem and never was.

Whoever is appointed manager when Bruce’s gone must be a proven winner ie someone who HAS actually won trophies. This is one area we can copy Man City! We don’t want Pochettino or any other wannabe. We’ve waited long enough and need a significant trophy in 3 years!
By the way, I doubt the Arabs are interested in waiting either!

Davo if he makes a statement of course there is going to be the usual drivel in it, that’s guaranteed. It would seem like something he kinda has to do anyways.

But it still wouldnt surprise me if he said nowt and just walked away.

When you’re Managing Director you don’t just take orders! He should’ve been telling Ashley what a gold mine he was sitting on and developing policy and growing the business. We are not talking about a junior here he’s MD!
He should have resigned if he had any self respect and could have prospered but not now as he’s a proven yes man!

If Lee Charnley does get to stay on which in light of recent information probably means he will be then I think were going to see a COMPLETELY different Lee Charnley. Just my opinion! But I dont actually care if he stays or goes. Should he be staying I’ll most certainly give him the benefit of the doubt and see how he gets on.

Exciting stuff and a reason to be optimistic for a change, something I have guarded against for years as its just too painful every let down. From another post ” Ashley’s move to furlough non-playing staff and exploit taxpayers money will be immediately reversed, whilst there will also be a significant gesture of support shown to the local NHS.” If this is true the League need to put a rush on this fit and proper issue as folk are suffering hardship and distress due to the improper running of the club, the NHS will benefit also, WIN WIN! Why are we waiting???????
