Newcastle currently have three right-backs on the books in Javier Manquillo, DeAndre Yedlin, and Emil Krafth. Manquillo is out of contract in a few months, and there’s been little to suggest he will be getting an extension.
Similarly, DeAndre Yedlin has just over a year on his contract with no reports of talks between him and Newcastle. With some new ambitious owners about to take the reins at the club, right-back could be a position needing an upgrade this summer.
Sport Witness are reporting that Newcastle have contacted Barcelona about their right-back Emerson, who is currently on loan with Real Betis until 2021.
Emerson’s situation is somewhat complex as both Barcelona and Real Betis paid half of his €12.7m fee from Brazilian club Atletico Mineiro in January of 2019.
Barcelona have a clause to purchase the 21-year-old outright for €6m in 2021 if they so desire.
Bleacher Report did an article on Emerson late last year in which the Brazilian made it clear that he sees his future at Barcelona.
“In my head, I’m clear that I will go to Barcelona and that I will play to win the Champions League.
“Barcelona often tell my agent that I’m doing well, so it might be soon.”
However, the Sport Witness report claims that Barcelona manager Quique Setien is open to selling Emerson if a decent offer comes in. Setien coached Emerson last season when he was the manager at Real Betis.
Emerson spent much of last season behind current Barcelona right-back Junior Firpo. However, after Firpo’s transfer, Emerson has cemented himself in the Betis first-team this season, making 23 starts in La Liga with 3 goals and 5 assists.
He only turned 21 in January and is currently a Brazilian U23 international. Barcelona would be willing to trigger their €6m option with Betis and then sell Emerson if they received an offer of around €20m.

This is getting beyond a joke now.
I’ve tried to dull this whole takeover down to stop people getting ahead of themselves with stupid transfer stories…. but you know what….FUQK THEM
I hope we go on a massive spending spree and knock teams like arsenal Chelsea spurs man utd down the pecking order.
Furious with all this hatred now….. I hope the new owners make note of all these journalist and ban them and their papers from st James park when we’re one of the biggest draws in European football.

Comment #7The world has changed for good – whether minor or major only time will tell.
Football is on its arse – frozen for who knows how long but haemorrhaging cash.
Along comes a potential buyer of a club who’s fortune outweighs all others. Their potential investment into football will jump start others.
They will also potentially invest into the local area.
And people think the football and country’s governing bodies will bow down to some saber rattling jealousites and turn the money down.
I find that hard to believe….

Keep posting it mate!
Just read Martin Samuel’s piece in the Mail.
Despite begrudgingly accepting it’s happening, he is so bitter and suggesting the powers that be will close ranks on us and basically halt our progress!
What a bitter despicable sob he is!
You’d think journalists would relish the thought of new blood but I guess his team, whoever that is will be threatened!
I think he’s gonna be disappointed and underestimates the toon army on the March!

Comment #11People worrying we can’t be their whipping boy anymore. There to be kicked and dragged through the mud to hide others stories or to brighten a dull quiet day.
Let’s face it, it’s never a dull day at NUFC and they luv to revel in our sorrow…… but the chance of glory days coming is something they can’t fathom, so surely they must’ve able to stop it!?!

Comment #12No stopping us now! With all the problems in football at the moment the PL won’t want a legal challenge from the richest potential owner.
I think the tests will be passed anyway!

Comment #16Amazing!! As soon as we look like getting a new owner, some arsehole tries to block it. Is it pure jealousy because if we get the takeover done and vast amounts of cash to splash, we will topple the so called Giants of English football? Just wonder when the likes of Liverpool, Arsenal and Man Utd will stick their ore in?
