The prevailing wisdom seems to be that Steve Bruce will keep his job, at least in the interim, after the takeover of Newcastle is complete.
However, that hasn’t prevented some top managers being linked to lead the club’s resurgence under an ambitious ownership group.
The links have primarily centered on a return for Rafa Benitez and moves for Max Allegri and Mauricio Pocchettino, who are both between clubs at the moment. Though others have emerged.
On Monday, a report in Italy named former Roma boss Luciano Spalletti as a possible managerial target.
Last week, Dortmund’s Lucien Favre was touted by Eurosport’s Manu Lonjon as being on the shortlist.
Jorge Jesus– the man, the myth, the legend
On Tuesday, a manager was added to the speculative list who contended this past summer that he was approached about the position under Mike Ashley. Goal is reporting that our new owners have Flamengo manager Jorge Jesus on their managerial shortlist.
In August, the 65-year-old proclaimed during an interview on Brazil’s Fox TV that he had been contacted by Newcastle after the departure of Rafa Benitez.
Jesus opted to take over Brazilian club Flamengo instead of joining the circus that was Newcastle United at the time. However, he only signed a one year deal and is mulling over an extension with the team he led to the Brazil Serie A title last season.
He is reportedly open to staying at Flamengo but is seeking a 50% wage increase, which the club could struggle to afford.
Jesus has had a long coaching career stretching back almost 30 years, which has been almost exclusively in his native Portugal.
He replaced former Watford boss Quique Sanchez Flores at Benfica in 2009 and went on to break numerous club records, including wins and trophies, before departing for Sporting Lisbon in 2015.
Jesus went through a coronavirus scare in mid-March when his initial test produced inconclusive results. However, a subsequent test cleared him of having the virus.
O Clube de Regatas do Flamengo informa que o novo exame realizado pelo técnico Jorge Jesus atestou resultado negativo para o Covid-19. O clube agradece pelo suporte de toda Nação Rubro-negra ao Mister nos últimos dias. #CRF

Were not sure what to make of these claims that Jesus is a candidate to become Newcastle’s next manager. However, one thing is for sure, he would be an entertaining presence on Tyneside.

If you feel posters are goading you into responding you, why not ignore their posts. If you’re biting, your equally to blame for the resultant bickering.

Comment #127So bein who previously lost a lucrative contract for F1 broadcasting are now fearful that they will lose broadcasting rights for Premier League football to competitors which would ultimately benefit the clubs bein are trying to influence.
No wonder Keys is shatting himself, he’s going to end up on the Shopping Channel.

Comment #129Hibbitt, she was certainly no tyre kicker then, but I’ve no doubt that if Amanda had the same big guns back then, as she has now, then the sale would have happened and ironically Fats would have squeezed for a better price. The main difference now is that she has MBS. Can we take the last bid fully seriously, given their means of communication via a DJ etc? I’m not so sure. But if this one doesnt go through we are either stuck with Fat boy for a long time and we can have a go with the media guy and his dodgy Ronnie. Doesnt sound great though.

https://youtu.be/JD6F9slO31Q
They talk about how we could comfortably go 100m in deficit withing the first year that’s 120M plus any outgoing transfers we make. But the most exciting thing is he talks about because they are new foreign owners we can actually beat the ffp rules and spend much more than were allowed normally as long as we present a dossier to UEFA outlining how we are going to increase revenue over the next 4-5 years, we would have to follow through on that and get that prospective revenue, but it turns out we could be able to spend a hell of a lot more than we thought.

Comment #133As regards this Saudi website, geordietom, “i reckon the link i put up is is real” and JfA “It looks pretty footin real that website mind” and TheTinman “The question is just whether or not it is accurate / legitimate.”.
It may be legit (I believe Jib’s claim) but it’s not accurate. It states
“The Saudi Royals will own 80% of United, purchased at around £200million.”
How could they be £100M out?

Comment #134Tom it’s not a fan site, it’s legit. Also to design a website like that would take months and months and huge sums of money. Ontop of the nearly year long publishing of genuine news articles and links, plus its links to official Saudi government websites. The website is as legit as you could hope to find. The minute I seen the article my mind was eased, its happening. It’s done bar the official announcement from Stavely and He which will not be named.
