90min are claiming that Newcastle’s new ownership group will target British players in their attempt to transform Newcastle into a Premier League power.
In addition to defenders John Stones and Chris Smalling, Norwich City fullbacks Jamaal Lewis and Max Aarons, cousin of Magpie Rolando, are also on the list.
The Norwich pair are both very young and have shown this season they are Premier League quality players. However, Norwich look destined for the drop as they sit last in the league at the moment, though only six points from safety.
If the Canaries fail to avoid the drop, they’ll find it difficult to keep hold of their trio of young stars in Lewis, Aarons, and midfielder Todd Cantwell.
Jamal Lewis and Max Aarons– Nowrich duo tracked by Newcastle
Newcastle will likely be looking to bring in both a left-back and a right-back this summer.
We have three right-backs on the books in Emil Krafth, DeAndre Yedlin, and Javier Manquillo. However, Manquillo’s contract runs out in June, while Yedlin only has another year left on his.
On the left, Jetro Willems could well make his return to Newcastle, though we’d expect another player to be brought in as well.
Max Aarons is just 20-years-old and has made 27 Premier League starts at right-back for Norwich this season. He is a product of the Norwich Academy and has a contract that doesn’t expire until 2024.
Jamal Lewis is 22-years-old and has made 16 Premier League starts on the left this season. He, too, has risen through the ranks at Carrow Road and is contracted there until 2023.
Newcastle are going to be linked with every player under the sun over the next few months, assuming this takeover is approved. So it’s going to be difficult to separate the wheat from the chaff.
However, both Aarons and Lewis are Premier League proven and either could do a job at Newcastle. Being English, they’ll cost a lot of money so we wouldn’t expect Newcastle to go after both.
If we do go after either of them, the duo will not have to go far find out all about Newcastle. We’re sure their teammate Tim Krul will be more than happy to give them all the information they need.

Comment #5I suppose im stating the obvious but going back over the previous 3/4 weeks i cant find anything of an real importance that’s been reported by all of the hacks.
I think that’s s how folks are becoming emotionally and physically tired with the takeover…. Its the same old same old camouflaged very cleverly under a barn storming headline which is meant to catch the eye.
I find myself clicking on a ‘new’ link only to find i was reading same crap 3+weeks ago… Very clever

Most transfer rumours originate with agents
They are probably some of the folk least affected by the pandemic
They will still be in touch with their clients and journos daily

Comment #7I think Lacelles is the best on the ball out of all our defenders. He also has the highest passing accuracy of any player on our entire team, which basically means he loses the ball less than any other player in our team.

Comment #8The Bundesliga is set to get the go-ahead to resume in the second half of May after a meeting involving the chancellor, Angela Merkel, and state premiers.
Under the plan, the league (DFL) will be able to choose the appropriate date for games in the first and second divisions to restart and and matches will be held behind closed doors.
Clubs in Germany’s top division have been training for around a month amid Covid-19 testing and the DFL has been keen to finish the season by the end of June, when contracts expire. (Grauniad)

Good point but if we paired him with someone like Boubakary Soumare they would surely make a formidable centre midfield.

Comment #11I’m fast losing interest in this takeover. There is NO reason for the PL to take this long.
I’m beginning to think it won’t happen and quite honestly I’m not bothered anymore!
Think football is dead for 12 months anyway so that should force fatso to sell up cheaper!

I think we’ve more than reached the point now where the season just has to be voided so everyone knows where they stand. I say voided and not because restarting is impossible but simply because the premier league have to have all 20 teams in unanimous agreement as to when to restart? how to best go about doing that and where to play and I believe your just never going to get that. I think you have teams that are behind project restart, teams that want to finish but only when it’s safe to do so and teams thats just want the season voided at all costs like wet spam and villa? I feel if the league enforce playing at neutral venues the relegated teams will sue the Premier league for breaching the rules. Like wise if relegation is determined on a points per game basis, which could potentially go on for years.
The only way I can see the season finishing and everyone wins i feel is if no relegation is put on the table, as how in this economic climate do you fairly relegate a team that will set them back 5 years, without being sued for breaching the rules? That way an agreement can be reached for finishing, title and European places will be decided, sky and bein sports show behind closed doors games so league still receive its domestic and overseas revenue and money can then be given to teams on merit for league finishes. Money then can filter down to the efl and be distributed fairly and evenly to lower league clubs to stop them going under. But as long as this uncertainty continues, where do you draw the line between this season finishing and next season starting?

it’s also very noticeable that George Caulkin is not joining in with the frenzy of speculation on new players,

Comment #14The five top flight Leagues are
EPL (Eng)
La Ligue (Fr)
La Liga (Sp)
SerieA (It)
Bundesliga (Ger)
So far France is the only one to abandon the 19/20 season
and there’s hell on there since the decision was made

Comment #15Our Centre backs are all solid they can sometimes defend for 90 minutes attack after attack so eventually they will make a mistake
If we were to improve our quality in midfield and up front they wouldn’t be under as much pressure and would have more options to pass too
If we really are after Koubaly and actually got him a pairing of Lascalles and him would be immense!
Fernandez and Clark are also very decent backup
Lejuene and Dummett are probably the ones who would have to make way both are pretty injury prone and Dummett isn’t great on the ball so you would expect we could upgrade

Comment #17I think Cantwell is a tool. Stupid haircut and goal celebration, always want to hit him.
Max, oh yes, really good, and they have others.
In fact would consider their manager if he had a decent defensive coach with him.

Comment #18These close to the deal hacks need to be called out its notting short of propaganda that someone like Barnes, Charney or KBA are drip feeding out to these morans who are running to their press rooms with. Did anyone stop to think that this was all horse crap? I didn’t buy any of it from the off, they knew that document lodged at companies house would break the story to the media, weeks before it would be finalised why? Ashley is that considerate is he? Well I never???

Comment #19Had to post regarding lascelles. Great in the air, very good communicator to other defenders. Poor on the ball, often looks at his feet before striking the ball. Smart forwards are aware of this and close him down when he’s not looking up, costing an occasional soft goal. He does this every game. Decent player but no more.
