Report – Newcastle In Talks To Make January Loan Move Permanent

Yesterday there was a claim that Newcastle’s loan signing Valentino Lazaro had doubts about his future on Tyneside in the wake of the Saudi-backed takeover of the club.

But today the Sun is reporting that Newcastle are in talks with Inter Milan over making Lazaro’s move to Newcastle permanent.

When Lazaro joined Newcastle in January, his loan deal included a purchase clause believed to be around £20m. He snubbed a move to RB Leipzig to get the chance to play in the Premier League at Newcastle.

The 24-year-old was forced to leave Inter after just six months as he sought first-team football with EURO 2020 on the horizon. He made only three appearances in the league under Antonio Conte.

Lazaro’s limited time on Tyneside has produced mixed results. When pushed forward in his favored right-wing position, Valentino showed glimpses of his quality.

He managed just five appearances before the season was suspended in mid-March. With that, his future, along with the other January loan-signings Nabil Bentaleb and Danny Rose, were thrust into limbo.

According to the Sun, Newcastle’s talks with Inter are over the structure of the purchase option. They claim Inter are desperate to offload the Austrian to raise funds for this summer.

However, if this report is accurate, Newcastle may be pulling the trigger unnecessarily early. Lazaro has played just over 300 minutes in a black and white shirt.

With the Premier League destined to get back underway next month, why not wait until Lazaro gets more games under his belt? Though maybe this contact with Inter has something to do with extending Lazaro’s loan deal beyond June 30th, which will need to be negotiated.

We really rate Lazaro and think he’s embedded himself into the squad seamlessly. However, it would probably be wise to hold off on triggering his purchase option until after this season gets completed.

I feel like we haven’t talked about the takeover or covid 19 for quite a while – what are your thoughts?

Lazaro is not a bad player, good technique and even post takeover I think he’ll make a good signing. He’s an upgraded on what we have now. So a welcome move if true.

All this talk about Cambois a couple of hours ago reminds me of a song that Garland, the resident band at the Cellar Club in Ashington, used to sing in the late 1960s, early 70s. They were a marvellous band , 3 fellas and a lass, who wrote their own songs that were musically accomplished and comedically brilliant. I know that Adrian, the guitarist, died about twenty years ago but the others, who must be in their 80s, may still be around. This song was called ‘Come Back to Cambois’.

    Chorus
So won’t you come back to Cambois when the flowers are blooming
And pretty girls surround you by the score,
You can see the power station it’s the pride of all the nation
And there’ll always be a welcome at my door.

Well the night life is marvellous, we’ve got three fish and chip shops
And social clubs with ever open doors
And if you are the kind who loves sunbathing
There’s miles of open sand along the shore.

You can go big game fishing on a Newbiggin trawler
Or eat winkles on the beach at Sandy Bay
There is live entertainment in the pubs down on the main street
And Blyth is only half a mile away.

There was another verse but I can’t remember it.

Does anyone on here remember the Cellar Club and Garland?

That’s it they’re going to buy Roma instead.. This is says old and bulltish just like all of the other lazy hacks print g stuff you wouldn’t wipe you ass with and this is the very crap that caused us all to get into a frenzie about nowt.
I’m more than confident we are about to become the richest sporting club on the planet… Its just taking a little longer than we had hoped…. Don’t take any notice of lazy hacks, they’re sad southerners without a brain cell…. and VERY jealous

Vaguely remember Garland Think there was a Blyth lass sing with them who went to school with my sister and did they not do gigs at Seaton Deleval Hall. Was involved with the folk club at the Windmill at Cowpen . Hamish Imlach Tony Capstick some good turns on there. as for the take over I think it will happen but it will take its own sweet time.

i think Amanda has been driving the takeover like last time in the hope she can broker a deal and get a pay day.

she’ll be pushing her Saudi friends but their heart isn’t in it unless she can convince them they’ve got a good deal.

    chinleymag,

I was on holiday when the Humblebums played the cellar. The Big Yin spent the night at our lead singer’s house (we were the second house band) and if I’d been there then he would have probably stayed at ours. So I missed out on having Billy Connely stay in my house. Regrets (and the holiday wasn’t that good as I remember).

The Blyth lass singer in Garland was Ron (Veronica) Saunders.

I like a bit of rap at times but wouldn’t say I’m a fan. I’ll happily listen to Marshall and admit that he’s good at what he does. But I’d much rather listen to some Pink Floyd.

i guess the takeover would come in this category. a nice woolly discription..

    “STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIP PROGRAM
    PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
The Strategic Partnership Vision Realization Program aims at strengthening the position of Saudi Arabia regionally and globally and push forward the GCC integration agenda by launching a series of strategic partnerships in various fields through creating and capturing opportunities and dealing with them effectively and proactively by supporting and coordinating initiatives executed by responsible entities in a way that ensures synergy with partnerships countries and economic blocs, thus contributing to the realization of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 and its interests at the regional and international levels.
