Our prospective new owners will inherit a Newcastle United that is in excellent financial shape. This will afford them the freedom to maneuver in the transfer market and keep within Financial Fair Play regulations.
Reports have maintained that the new ownership group plan to be responsible with their spending and comply with FFP.
In April, football finance analyst Kieran Maguire tweeted the following about how much flexibility the new owners will have.
As unpopular as he is with many fans, Mike Ashley will leave Newcastle United in a very strong position to invest in players under new owners as can lose £105m over 3 yrs but #NUFC profit making under MA so lots of wiggle room to buy. pic.twitter.com/aUIr2x9SMm

Given that transfer fees are spread over the life of the contract NUFC could spend £150m, pay decent wages and still adhere to FFP
— PriceOfFootball (@KieranMaguire) April 16, 2020
With the economic impact of the coronavirus on football clubs, it looks like UEFA could loosen their restrictions on FFP going forward
The Chronicle has published the following comments from UEFA president Aleksander Ceferin:
“The situation is extraordinary and we will not pretend that it’s not, so we will adapt the Financial Fair Play system. But the final decision in which direction we will do it is not brought yet, so yes we will adapt.
“We think it’s important to adapt it because the situation for the clubs is not easy, and we are all in the same boat here. But it’s again too soon to share details of how we will do it because the clubs are included in the conversation and the leagues are also included in the conversation.”
So it looks like Newcastle could be in an even better position once this takeover is given the go-ahead. We’ll have more flexibility in the transfer market if the FFP regulations are loosened.
However, we don’t think the potential new owners will be irresponsible in their spending. But with the vast wealth behind this consortium, Newcastle will have a massive advantage over other clubs this summer.

Comment #81Thats also forgetting the impending appeal over those undisclosed payments
And the likely investigation into his staff working while furloughed
And his tat shops being reported to trading standards
And the government refusing him those loans
I wouldnt be surprised if that 600m tax bill he says hes sorted turns out to be just another lie

If he dont sell he will have to refund the season ticket money
And have to play games in an empty stadium
How many season tickets you think he will shift next season if he stays ?
All the while his tat shop empire goes down the sh1tta

As David Coleman once said, ‘They think it’s all over etc’. Bearing that in mind, if you think you can get away with throwing foul, insensitive and offensive comments at others, you’re sadly mistaken
You might think that your comments are accepted as though there was nothing in them, but you can be certain that those you’ve offended don’t brush them off as if nothing was said.
You’ll never learn will you.

Hate to point it out but aren’t the people you made a comparison to players, ie in teams of 11, not coaches !!! Bruce was a great player but poor coach, a la shearer + beardo.
Unless you’re incredibly egotistical and just blatantly ignore what a lot of people think, you’ll have seen a lot of people don’t agree that bruce has done a great job at all. Languishing lower mid table playing shite football is exactly what I expected. rafa was under ashley too but10000 didn’t walk away then though. Bruce got people back in with the free 10000 tickets giveaway!!
Starting to sense you’re either on a wind up or you’re not one of jib’s chosen genius playmates.

Comment #95On the Beeb teletext Saturday was an item relating to Angel Gomez the 19 year old ManU player who was hesitating signing a new contract cos of the number of other 19 year old kids that they were after.
Makes you wonder how many other players in his position must feel with expensive players being bought in, sort of slaps them in the face a bit.

I’d put a random date in from last year showing that Munter had said Brucie was one of the best managers in the world as he’s been harping on about saying he never rated Brucie, the comment was dated 17th of August at 2 50, as it happens you’d made a comment at that time. It was clearly intended as a laugh and even Munter hasn’t taken offence, just Jibbers being a dick.

from little way back
I don’t believe that Rafa came simply to keep us up – seems too short-sighted and not his way.
He (not other way around) approached Club after viewing and weighing us up from a distance and I doubt there was enough could have happened to sway his view by then and he was (rightly) basking in the adoration of the fans as their savior.
Its all just reading the tea leaves though

Your post about Gomez at ManU being a tad disillusioned could equally be applied to the Longstaff lads hearing about other players on greater salaries being linked to their positions

You seem to have had a bit of a hard time on here today. Sounds like it’s time for some music to take your mind off things.
Don’t know if you’re a fan of Tom Waites but BBC 4 TV are showing a bit of a must-do this week. Friday evening I think.

Aye, I believe that he came with a view to being long term but I also believe that Ashley didn’t want him anywhere near the place and absolutely hated his guts after he forced his own way in that first summer of recruitment.

May be but all that wouldn’t have been enough to oust him after few months. Might have been another season but my take is without having to have endured relegation the Club could have slowly built up from what Rafa had inherited and he would have wheeled and dealed as he saw fit. Perhaps not fast enough for Rafa or too fast for Ashley but it’s all academic

I like Tom Waites but prefer early stuff and have a few cassettes of his but can stream much of his stuff and dip in now and again.
Good songwriter and observer of humanity – bit like John Prine and that other Tom (Russell) both of whom I really like.
Might record or catch up on Iplayer- thanks

Comment #108Rotonda it’s quite simple really, and I can’t understand your difficulty getting it.
1. Rafa is better than Bruce
2. Bruce is worse than Rafa
3. Bruce got similar or better points
4. The football was baaad
5. Rafas football wasn’t that much better
6. Bruce put his best team out in the cups
7. He wasn’t a patsy as some said, incorrectly.
8. If I’m not wrong, some fans were singing Bruce’s name at the end
9. Les Miserables did NOT expect his to equal and surpass rafa’s points at this stage of the season.
10. Bruce will be respectfully remembered for his contribution at a hard time in the clubs history.
You see Rotonda, fair, balanced, simple.
