The amount of players Newcastle have been linked with over the past month and a half is absolutely staggering. From Edinson Cavani to Gareth Bale to Philippe Coutinho, it’s been quite a list to sort through.
Most of its probably just agent talk or rank speculation by news outlets. However, some links may have a ring of truth in them. Separating the wheat from the chaff is almost impossible.
Newcastle’s prospective new owners haven’t even received approval from the Premier League yet, but that’s not prevented the endless wave of players being linked with a move to Tyneside.
It was only a matter of time before Wilfried Zaha was linked with such a move. According to the Sun, if the Saudi-backed consortium’s £300m takeover is successful, they will target the Crystal Palace attacker.
The crux of the Sun story is that since Mauricio Pochettino is supposedly the preferred manager of the new consortium and the Argentine coveted Zaha while managing Tottenham, then Newcastle targeting Zaha ‘may be a deal that works for everyone.’
It’s a stretch, to say the least. However, Zaha has been linked with a move away from Selhurst Park for years now. The 27-year-old seemed destined to leave last summer with both Arsenal and Everton in pursuit.
We expect that to the case once again this summer. However, the Eagles value Zaha at around £60m, and the winger has another 3 years left on his contract.
So we just don’t see Newcastle entering this race. There are better options out there to jumpstart the Newcastle revolution once this takeover finally gets approved.

Comment #3Oh munster and jibby are a right old double act. Constantly bigging up bruce and knifing Rafa, can almost see the virtual high fives. Funny, munster praises bruce for acknowledging the nhs but never mentioned all rafa’s charity work and work in the community. Also Bruce’s poor injury record, along wth all his other bottom of the table stats, directly mirrors that of all his previous clubs. Old school running half marathons and picking up numerous muscle strains isn’t increasing fitness levels, whereas Rafa’s more enlightened methods oversaw 3 relatively injury free seasons
If both of you think, taking away your individual personal feelings towards Rafa, that Bruce is superior to rafa on any level, based on 1 incomplete season, then that speaks volumes for your alleged footballing intelligence and knowledge. Cue some more predictably foul mouthed responses and more virtual back slapping.

Comment #11Rotunda you may not agree with me, and I’ve no issue with that, but as with some other people here, you have to get your facts right. I never said Bruce was better than Rafa. Go get your facts right if u want to debate. I also don’t Dislike rafa, and would welcome him back, but not as quickly as I wud welcome a Poch. I feel rafa’s greatness and Bruce’s ineptitude are both hugely exaggerated though! And people like you, who refused to criticise rafa for anything, ever, completely lack credibility.

Thanks for the offer in principle, of some rabbit. There’re plenty down here it’s just the getting them’s the problem.
However, if you were suggesting leaving a rabbit pie on the doorstep…… if or next time you’re down this way, let me know and the table’ll be set with a couple of bottles of good Rioja or Chianti decanter ready for you.
However, let’s hope your info or gut feeling’s right.
You and all of your kin, be safe.
