Report – More Names Linked With NUFC Director Role

The Independent is claiming that Owen Brown is confident of landing the director of football role at Newcastle United.

According to the report, the former Rafa Benitez advisor would team up with Frank McParland, who has served as the sporting director at Brentford, Burnley, and most recently Nottingham Forest.

Earlier today, Get French Football News claimed that Lille’s director of football Luis Campos turned down an approach from Newcastle United. The Independent echos that claim while adding that Domenico Teti was also approached.

Owen Brown (pictured above with Rafa) spent time as a scout and advisor under Rafa Benitez at Liverpool.

However, we can’t see him being handed the director of football role at Newcastle under our new ownership group. Though he could be in line for another position at the club.

We would expect our new owners to bring in a top director to take this club forward. Someone like Lille’s Luis Campos would be an outstanding hire if he could be persuaded to join.

Earlier this month, former Newcastle defender Nikos Dabizas was again touted as a candidate to become Newcastle’s next director of football.

Is it a coincidence this Owen brown worked with Rafa?
Is this our new manager putting his own people in place before his
Triumphant return to his promised land.

    Northumbrian,

A Director of Football with a CV of Brentford, Burnley, and most recently Nottingham Forest doesn’t give confidence unless the Arabs want to raid the Championship and League One clubs.

You misunderstand , they are building from the foundations up
Owen Brown was the force behind the upgrading of Melwood
    under Rafa’s regime.

I really hope they go for Poch after the takeover.

I can’t handle another 3 years of rafa arguments on here with the usual suspects.

    Clean break please.

We’ve apparently targeted a few DOF’s with 1 apparently turning us down who had no links with rafa. If Brown gets it then it’s a coincidence, rafa wont be returning

I’d be really underwhelmed if he did return

If it takes 5 years to rebuild us then no 1 manager will get that amount of time. It shouldn’t take 5 years to rebuild especially with all clubs globally hit by current economic crisis

who every it is will get my full backing,

Can you imagine the atmosphere in Newcastle if we actually won a trophy, the whole city would be heaving, people from all over would be coming to be a part of it, considering its one of the party cities, this would be on another level…..my excitement just got another boost, i must stop doing this to myself

It looks like this will of been Staveley’s plan all along then.

Staveley saw how much hope Rafa gave us fans and gave us something to smile about and early reports was she always intended to keep Rafa on and let him rebuild us.

Looking like the most likely scenario now.

But saying that there is reports saying they will keep Bruce on for the short term the transition period and obviously a possible season to finish.

Defo they’d get backing, guess that’s the only reason I want a change. I actually want to see good attacking football, personally had enough of the mind numbing dull stuff we’ve witnessed for far to long.

No matter what people say Rafa wont change his style and we will see less players like ASM and more workman like players. Trophies will come, maybe sooner with Rafa in cup competitions but I cant remember the last time he actually won a league, maybe Valencia

Either way it’s a step up from Bruce no doubt!!

    Done

Well at least my just over 2 year old grandson says so

To clarify I asked him on what’s app video when will it be done and he said “done”

Note of caution he often repeats words especially last one he heard.

So I thought sbout it and realise he was telling me “it’ll be done when it’s done” – out of the mouths of babes
    😉

It makes sense to keep bruce till end of season, he knows the players and they seem to like him. Start a fresh next season.

Rafa will have to do a first in breaking his contract, what’s the buyout to get him?
